'Breath Taking". Ms. Monheit has now become my favorite female singing artist.
I decided to mention something .... I love Jane ... and her music ... and as a human being .... I certainly am not concerned with her private life and weight gain .... I think she is wonderful and I am disappointed in those whose reach for criticism ...

How much do I adore Jane Monheit! Every single time she opens her voice, I feel as if she tells a story that I truly connect with. A beautiful Artist with a stellar capacity for capturing the imagination of her audience.
Wow can she sing! The dynamics are breathtaking. You know, people remark about her weight gain. I thought she was beautiful back in 2003 and I still think that she is beautiful. Some gals can gain weight and still look attractive. Jane is clearly one of them. This said, her voice is so amazing that if I never saw her, I could fall in love just hearing her sing.
I love her voice.....ever since I heard her sing Somewhere Over the Rainbow....
I could listen to Jane just read names from the phone book. What a special voice!

Since I first heard Jane Monheit's singing - Blame it on My Youth (with Kenny Barron on piano) -I fell in love with her voice. She gets everything she can out of every tune with tremendous depth of feeling and incredible lyricism. Check out her Live at the Rainbow Room (fantastic band too).

So much emotion in this performance, absolutely breathtaking! YOU ARE STILL BEAUTIFUL JANE, and can sing with the best of them.
Jane understands a song ... and she interprets it perfectly ... she knows how to share feelings. I especially like the piano introduction - absolutely beautiful ... with a quote from Gordon Jenkins' song, "Goodbye" made famous by Benny Goodman.
You were very perceptive to detect that quote from Gordon Jenkins' "Goodbye"! I have been a big fan of Jane's over the years, ever since I stopped the car to listen to the singer singing "Detour Ahead". She sure knows how to squeeze all the emotion out of a lyric and I think it is great that she has the control and technique to implement any idea that comes into her head. Yet, at times I would appreciate hearing the written melody, unadorned. Sometimes less can be more.

Besides that, this theme takes me back to the time my precious kids were little and we used to watch "Snoopy Come Home" together...

I'm a singer and have gone up and down in weight and it's never affected it's quality. What has been affected is my self esteem due ro moronic men who judged me for being overweight. Sickening. You just mentioned two singers whom the same imbeciles would have nothing to say about because only white singers are judged for being fat.

She is such a nice singer...So beautiful ..Should not gain so much weight..I didn't recognise her just by the picture...Very plumpy..That's a shame...The voice is always fine
