    7:15 To make the cut you could use Thin Wall Extrude Cut and set the cut entirely externally. This doesn't need closed sketch profiles. Greetings from SmoothSlug and go Toby!!

    Looking Good Toby, Pretty soon you'll be an Alibre expert.
    Quick Tip: To make the tombstone sketches start with a Rectangle. Then place a center point arc at the center of one end line and finish it at the ends of the end line. Then convert the line to Reference geometry and apply dimensions.

    Noting that it is Atom 3D Compatible was a great little addition. It was surreal to see a CAD Giant like you at 02:55 having the same screen up that I have at the start of my working day. That was cool man!!!

      7:07 - he asked if there are any "Alibre wizards out there" with suggestions. That's your cue!

      @@trebmaster lol, I answered in chat and Ty, the other Alibre wizzard, corrected me in the comments of the Monday Live video. Hmmm... I wonder... Are Ty and I the Blue Wizzards of TooTallToby's competitions..?

    7:18 Probably could do a thin extrude? If you do the little arrow under the Cut Extrude, then do Thin Extrude.

    I have struggled with OnShape so I'm wondering what the difference may be between OnShape and Alibre other than than cost? I currently use Shapr3D with a student license but need to find a replacement at some point. I've tried Plasticity (can't get on with that either) and Fusion etc is way too much for what I need. I have MOI3D but Shapr3D is much better and MOI3D interface seems dated. So I am still left looking for an alternative to Shapr3D. Also I assume you are using the PRO Version of Atom 3D?

    Nice to get exposure to new apps. Installed Alibre Atom3D after seeing this video. The manual clicking of the trim command (instead of click and drag), along with the lack of a hole wizard in Atom3D made me drop it 2 days after starting a trial. I don't need any more disadvantages when doing practice models!

      Hey @joshualebo6820, thanks for your comment. Atom3D is intended to be a perpetual license for hobby-level makers. The hole tool and many other time-savers are available in the professional license, which also allows for the customization of hotkeys for just about any function. Users have assigned their own hotkeys to use the trim feature quickly. Just as Google Sheets is designed to be highly accessible and simple, while Excel offers higher levels of features, the same is true for our licenses: Atom, Professional, and Expert. All are available on a perpetual license for much less than what others charge. Happy modeling, and thanks for watching Too Tall Toby.

      Thanks for the response@@AlibreLLC . I understand the challenge - spent a chunk of my previous life at a software startup that eventually IPO'd. It's a constant battle to weigh sharing features in the community edition vs withholding them for enterprise customers. For functionality like creating CNC toolpaths, it's a no brainer. Sketch and feature tools are the gateway, at least they seem to be as I ramp up. It's interesting to see how vendors address this in the CAD space. Best of luck to you guys.

    Toby I'am new to Alibre, actually just purchased the ATOM3D version and working my way through this video. Got to the part where you add the holes and noticed that no hole option is avalable , are you sure it is Atom3d compatible?

    • @TooTallToby
      @TooTallToby  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Oh snap - you are correct! You'll have to do those holes as 2 cut extrudes! Sorry about that :-)
