This is an amazing channel. I didn't know about you until I saw your "what happens when shanty singers play sea of thieves" video. I didn't know I needed this in my life before that. I'm for sure gonna start following you guys and binge all your other stuff.
Would love to hear you guys do a rendition of "Over the hills and far away". Either the George Farquhar version or (even better) the John Tams version. Great job guys.
When you’re watching something else on TH-cam and the next video is this, and you get the song stuck in your head for half the day till you have to come back and listen to it on repeat for a while before you can continue your day……
Thank you for sharing your talent with us all! You are all truly magnificent. I have never donated before but after having a bad week you all put an smile that lasted throughout the duration of the stream. We are all instant fans! Cheers for you all! #seaofshanties Additionally, it occurred to me that you could put out 20 minute episodes. Some episodes could be encounters with other players like reaction videos. Another possibility is to make videos where you sing from location to location, not knowing what may happen along the way. Then once you arrive at your destination continue with the game. That way we get to experience your progression in the game and get to hear your amazing voices. Also it gives you the ability to have a schedule and be ready to sing songs. This also means you don't depend on other players for your content. Which is the one weakness of my first idea. Please consider these ideas. You have a gold mine here. A chance to be massive on TH-cam but you must act quickly. You are all talented and magnificent. I await your next video. Best of luck! Cheers! #seaofshanties
Missed my personal favourite verse* but still nice to hear you guys (and gal) do a song I know. * "a pint of rum for ever-y man walk him along... and a bloody great big barrel for the shantyman carry him to..."
I'm so glad I found your channel, amazing songs and personalities, plus love that you're into sea of thieves but most of all, I feel absolutely privileged to be one of the first few to see this video. Keep it up guys. This is just the beginning
You continue to improve and mature on each rendition. That amazes me, as I thought you were perfect from the first time I heard you. It's an ideal vocal blend here... Keep it up!
Found you through Sea of Thieves but... I've had your voices in my head for a week now!!! I absolutely can't get enough of your singing. It's historical! It's beautiful! It makes me feel like a nerd (having been singing in one of my college's acapella groups) to listen to your talent :) Keep doing what you guys do. Seriously!
I think it's absolutely tragic you fine musicians are all the way in England. I would love to go to one of your performances in person. Perhaps one day I shall but till then please keep up the amazing work. I love the music and the voices that make it. The stream was a brilliant idea and sorry that it didn't go exactly to plan but hopefully more will be in the future. : )
After reaching the bottom of the playlist for music videos, I think you guys should start producing shanties for D&D. People love shanties in general, but combining it with music that can be played during people's DnD games or just for enjoyment would, I think, be a big win.
Better that Steeleye Span's version! This shanty has the weirdest story, about Zachary Taylor Defeating Santa Anna in Mexico at the battle of Buena Vista. Why on earth British sailors would be singing about this is a mystery.
I really wish i could see you guys live, but quite an ocean separates us, and we all know how treacherous those can be. Maybe one day i'll find the time and money to say hi.
I have to say, you are absolutely fantastic. I’d be surprised if you take requests, but just in case: I would love to hear your version of “Barrett’s Privateers”
Can I just... have that bass? Your voices are all great, demonstrating that it's not only American voices that can lock and ring properly. I could listen to you guys all day!
If I may put in a request, I would suggest that y'all do "Roll Alabama Roll." Roll Alabama Roll is a sea shanty about the CSS Alabama, which was a commerce raider for the Confederacy during the American Civil War. She was built by John Laird Sons and Company. Her hull was laid down in Birkenhead, England and she was mostly manned by Englishmen from Liverpool. Most of her officers were Southern though. She raided and pillaged Northern commerce for a little over two years. She boarded nearly 450 vessels, captured or burned 65 Union merchant ships. She also took over 2,000 POWs during her voyage. She did all this without losing any of her crew. She was finally sunk off the coast of Cherbourg, France, where she went for a much needed refit and long-overdue repairs. She was sunk by the USS Kearsarge after a long, drawn out battle. In the end, 19 of her crew died (9 killed in action, 10 drowned.) 70 of her crew was captured and 38 to 41 of her crew evaded capture by being rescued by a British yacht that was passing by. After all that writing, hopefully this sea shanty will peak y'all's interest.
She used to be in the Johns as well, but sadly had to leave last October due to other commitments. But yes, she is indeed in the Norfolk Broads, who are amazing!
Loved the video and cheers to You all from Saltillo Coahuila México .👍❤️🇲🇽Okey i just have to Say it who is the jolly lassie and where is she from in the video?? because i think i should write this on the first video i ever saw of You guys ( which is this one ) and it's been a couple years since i subscrived and followed You in all the other social media i don't know why but in extremly extrovertido but when it comes to talking with ANY girl or ladie it dosent Even Matter if it's fisicly by face to face or on the internet mesaging and sending voice mail i either freeze or forget what i was saying or what i was gonna Say eighter ( literally if still have the memory that i was with some Friends and i wsnted to así this girl out that i really liked the moment i called her and the moment she turned arround it was like spell was casted on me and lose my voice, so mucho that i was getting all red and bllue from trying to much Even a friend came and like punched My in the black and all i said was a scream in her face and i just went a way to sabe myself from the awkard moment but everybody on shool remember and somehow when i hear all of the sea chanties songs and especially the ones You sing really help me ... Anyways keep up the good work Sirs!!!
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking you should re-record your ENTIRE catalog with this lineup. The harmonies are simply perfect and enchanting.
In case you're wondering, the study of nostrils is rhinology.
satiric_rug nah man it's nostrology
Catnerd David Nah mate, nostrology is when you use your nose to justify your shitty personality.
satiric_rug thanks that solved an argument I was having
Not the hero we deserved, but the hero we needed.
I like how buzzy yet prominent your bass is. Like the anchor to the beautiful ship that is your melody.
It almost begs to be paired wit a hurdy-gurdy.
Agreed JD is fantastic
I much think the bass is rather the sails
@@captainduck3421 r/ihadastroke lmao
Agreed! A JD fan
You.. you’re the ones who turned me from a normal music fan, to a sea shanty enjoyer.
It’s an honour :)
Thanks for all the great music :)
What took you so long???
Oh, General Taylor gained the day
Walk him along, John, carry him along
Well, General Taylor gained the day
Carry him to his burying ground
To me way hey, Stormy
Walk him along, John, carry him along
To me way hey, Stormy
Carry him to his burying ground
I wish I was old Stormy's son
Walk him along, John, carry him along
Well I'd build a ship ten thousand ton
Carry him to his burying ground
To me way hey, Stormy
Walk him along, John, carry him along
To me way hey, Stormy
Carry him to his burying ground
We’ll load her up with ale and rum
Walk him along, John, carry him along
And every shellback should have some
Carry him to his burying ground
To me way hey, Stormy
Walk him along, John, carry him along
To me way hey, Stormy
Carry him to his burying ground
We’ll dig his grave with a silver spade
Walk him along, John, carry him along
His shroud of finest silk is made
Carry him to his burying ground
To me way hey, Stormy
Walk him along, John, carry him along
To me way hey, Stormy
Carry him to his burying ground
We'll lower him down on a golden chain
Walk him along, John, carry him along
On every link we'll carve his name
Carry him to his burying ground
To me way hey, Stormy
Walk him along, John, carry him along
To me way hey, Stormy
Carry him to his burying ground
Well General Taylor's dead and gone
Walk him along, John, carry him along
Well General Taylor's dead and gone
Carry him to his burying ground
To me way hey, Stormy
Walk him along, John, carry him along
To me way hey, Stormy
Carry him to his burying ground
Thankyou for this
I sing just like them and now I have another song to sing
THANK YOU
You are a good man, thank you.
Do it in a ship
Like at sea
That'd be amazing!

We know a ship that would welcome you all again... The Baltic is calling...
Imagine theyre singing it in the sympathy of the seas
they listened, they did wellerman on a ship!
That's how us Vikings do it!
This is an amazing channel. I didn't know about you until I saw your "what happens when shanty singers play sea of thieves" video. I didn't know I needed this in my life before that.
I'm for sure gonna start following you guys and binge all your other stuff.
Definitely worth watching adverts for!!
This is so aesthetically pleasing to look at.
Would love to hear you guys do a rendition of "Over the hills and far away". Either the George Farquhar version or (even better) the John Tams version. Great job guys.
I’d pay good money to hear their cover of the Gary Moore version too. 😋
When you’re watching something else on TH-cam and the next video is this, and you get the song stuck in your head for half the day till you have to come back and listen to it on repeat for a while before you can continue your day……

This song is so good it would be a worthy addition to a Stan Rogers album.
Missed my personal favourite verse* but still nice to hear you guys (and gal) do a song I know.
* "a pint of rum for ever-y man
walk him along...
and a bloody great big barrel for the shantyman

Found you over your "Sea of Thieves" short. Awesome.
Would be nice if the lyrics were in the description.
Even now I keep looking back to this video, the first shanty I heard from you guys, and the reason I now sing shanty music!
Love to see this on Spotify
Agreed, I've been listening to your current songs on Spotify and would love to hear more
You guys need to be more popular, your shanty-ing is amazing!
Well do I have good news for you.
Listening to this while I study, while I sleep, while I workout, while I eat, 24/7
It's different. And it works. Kudos... that's a risk many take and don't even get in the same ocean as you. This is grand.
This remains my favorite version of this song
I'm so glad I found your channel, amazing songs and personalities, plus love that you're into sea of thieves but most of all, I feel absolutely privileged to be one of the first few to see this video. Keep it up guys. This is just the beginning
I’ve always wanted start a group like this
yeah me too
Lets do it
We Vikings sing like this while rowing!
I first heard this by Great Big Sea and love, but your version is amazing as well.
Glad to see this channel active again!
You continue to improve and mature on each rendition. That amazes me, as I thought you were perfect from the first time I heard you. It's an ideal vocal blend here... Keep it up!
2:08 the face of a TRUE pirate!
What a great setting! Beautiful!!! Loving those voices too

This is beautiful i love you guys
Great stuff! Cool location as well.

Which one of you is that deep, full baritone? Seriously you folks are awesome!
This sounds so great and the Background is great, Thanks to you guys
True talent! Thank you for sharing with the world.
This is wonderful!
You never disappoint. Great tune, amazing performance.

This was lovely! Keep up the great work lads!
Why not sing on the Matthew that's docked in Bristol Harbour? That would be perfect 😍
Damn, that is a bass voice!
Always a good time when you put out a new video.
I just found your channel and I freaking love it
Absolutely! Good stuff, this.
Amazing!
That does it. I'm saving up for a Galleon and a full crew of sailors.
Better that Steeleye Span's version! This shanty has the weirdest story, about Zachary Taylor Defeating Santa Anna in Mexico at the battle of Buena Vista. Why on earth British sailors would be singing about this is a mystery.
Is it normal for people to just...cry... when ya'll sing? Cuz I can't stop now ...
I really wish i could see you guys live, but quite an ocean separates us, and we all know how treacherous those can be. Maybe one day i'll find the time and money to say hi.
THIS IS SO GOD TIER!!!
The stream of the other day was just perfect
I wish I had 4 friends to do this with
I have to say, you are absolutely fantastic.
I’d be surprised if you take requests, but just in case: I would love to hear your version of “Barrett’s Privateers”
Would a recording from the livestream do for you? th-cam.com/video/IkDdqXtDzOY/w-d-xo.htmlh16s

They also have a few live videos from gigs put up by other people
I miss Anna in the group
amazing!!!
Great job guys
Aweeeessoooommeee♥️♥️♥️💜
sounds amazing everyone!
Welcome back!
Fantastic
Silly question, is this the same general Taylor as is in Santiana? They both gained a day at the beginning and both ended up dead?
Best stream ever btw
Now i have a compilation of songs to hear for at least 3 hours
Same here haha
Mhm same
@@KingJellyfishII same
can you guys plz sing Sally Brown, Leave her Johnny, Whiskey Johnny and William Taylor
I personally prefer this to the recording on their album. The "Way, hey" part in the chorus on this one gives me chills every time.
beautiful
Can I just... have that bass? Your voices are all great, demonstrating that it's not only American voices that can lock and ring properly. I could listen to you guys all day!
the perfect song for the perfect a cappella band
You guys should do Roll Boys Roll
Great song, have you ever sung “blow the man down” I would love to hear your version.

I wish I had friends to do the higher parts too along with my bass.
seattle assassins us baratones have it easy lol
The cat just came out of hiding to listen to this song.
This is different from Great Big Sea's rendition. I like it
I, too, wish I was ol' Taylor's son.
Sixth listening! (I think, maybe more...)
I think I can beat that with 15. Listen to it almost every day ;)
Ya'll, and @TheSnakeCharmer doing a compilation. Yes please! :-)
I think this is about Stormalong John carrying General Zachary Taylor
Yeah the song is about President Zachary Taylor. It was created when he was a general.
I'd love to hear a version of John Kanaka
StorytellerOfTheDead YES!! Skinny Lister has my favorite rendition as of now
for 3:38 minutes of this song every thing is perfect.
This connects to santiana
What is the context for you guys talking about the study of noses?

Probs Zachary tho
Stream squad inbound!
What's the study of nostrils?
In unison: nostroligy?
Please wear pirate hats
Your ship is still not sunk with me. Keep on sailing.
Is that a Norfolk Broad with you?
She used to be in the Johns as well, but sadly had to leave last October due to other commitments. But yes, she is indeed in the Norfolk Broads, who are amazing!
So who is the lady
Does anyone know who General Taylor was?
His name was Taylor and he was a general
He was actually President of the United States at one time. He died after his term in the capacity of a General.
