  • Each year in Northern Ireland, between 60 and 80 men are diagnosed with testicular cancer. It is the most common cancer amongst young men in Northern Ireland, but has high survival rates if caught at an early stage. This is why it is so important to know what signs and symptoms to look out for.
Friends of the Cancer Centre’s clinical nurse specialist for testicular cancer, Mel, supports men with testicular cancer by offering them holistic support at all stages of diagnosis, treatment, and into survivorship. Mel can support all patient needs, including any physical, social or emotional issues, and she also cares for the wider patient network, including families and carers, recognising that watching a loved one go through treatment can be particularly difficult. Mel can only provide this vital care through your support of the charity.
The recommendation is that a testicular self-check should be done once a month, and Mel has worked with us to develop our Talking Balls self-check cards. These cards have a handy step-by-step guide on how you can self-check in just a few minutes.
