I just contacted this man about a week ago I spoke to Irema Curto some years ago through email..actually both Irema and Mrs.Curto they spoke of the reconstruction of the breed..and how people wanted them to use more great Dane to make the breed larger..and how he would not because it lacked function..I told him I appreciated his deligent tireless efforts on the breed for fifty years this was around I talked to founder of I.c.c.f..Mrs.Curto because Irema no minimal English thanked me for kind words..I also coined phrase that I was glad he didn't add extra great Dane because it lacked workability and how I didn't want a dog so big it looked like it was walking me..he and missus Curto enjoyed this this was around 09..

PEACE fellas, I love this post. Thank You for sharing . I'm a trainer from Chicago,Illinois and have seen what most call a Presa but after listening to him I have a better understanding of the breeds background. Thank You again for sharing.

This series was mesmerizing. I am a dog enthusiast, in that i love learning the how and the why of everything. I have been researching breeds because i have a specific wish in mind.
It touched something in my soul when he spoke about the American pitbull and the old ways of fighting, not to the death, but to see which one would "give" first/easier. Modern people dont understand this, and the part about animal activists and them not understanding the nature of dogs and the whole picture of why they are bred. I read a lot before getting my pitbull amongst everyone yelling about how bad they were. But i learned the truth and was able to raise a dog that loved me, children and cats. Other dogs, well I had to depend on training and the fact that she was terrified of disappointing me. She was well socialized to the point, if you were on two legs you were here to love her. It ended up being her downfall because people i thought wouldn't do me dirty stole her out of the yard. In the 25 yrs since i haven't found the connection with a breed that i could havw a hope of reproducing that level of love of me but have the same love of people close to me but have a natural wariness of strangers that made it aloof enough that the danger was real enough, if they messed up, for us all to be safe. I see that glimmer of hope in the pressa.

I have an 19 month old male and he isn't built like a bully type in fact he looks like a Bardino Marjorero just slighty bulkier, ive noticed so many different styles of presa that its hard to know what is the breed standard and what a Presa SHOULD look like, any advise??
