Boost Converter | Works from even 0.5V

  • Hello friends, today in this video i have made a step-up / boost converter. The inductor in this circuit doesn't have any feedback winding that is why another transistor have introduced. This circuit is very efficient. One used 1.5V battery will power a bunch of LEDs for several days until the battery voltage goes below 0.6V. You can make a night lamp or even a bright white led flasher with this circuit. The output voltage goes around 40V without load.
    Components used in this circuit:-
    1) Bc337 transistor(NPN)
    2)Bc547 transistor(PNP)
    3)0.022nf / 22pf capacitor (Sorry for my mistake in the circuit diagram)
    4) 47k resistor
    5)Inductor from old CFL circuit
    6) Enameled copper wire for coil ( Got from 5W CFL circuit's transformer)
    7)4148 zener diode
    8)10uf 35v capacitor
    Thanks for watching.

    GREAT CIRCUIT! This should work from a 1-cell Earth battery. Just pound two dissimilar metal rods, like copper and aluminum, into the ground, a couple inches (or ?) from each other. Hook it up to the input and you should be able to charge batteries or whatever.

    • @dylanm.3692
      @dylanm.3692 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I don't think that's possible. While this circuit boosts voltage, it does so at the cost of current. More current is traded for voltage, and an Earth battery system simply won't output enough power to be useful, unfortunately.

    • @y1hardtop
      @y1hardtop 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dylanm.3692 Like any other battery, an Earth battery's current output depends on the size of the electrodes. Larger pieces of metal would yield enough current.

      @@y1hardtop Those electrodes would have to absolutely huge. Way larger than anyone could feasibly manage. The soil only outputs very tiny trace amounts of power.

Like the 2N2222 or up to anywhere in the 6000 Series Transistor. 1K Resistor or one Adjustable Resistor. One Non-Magnetic Toroid with 30 Turns of 24g Copper Wire. ( Maybe a Low ESR Capacitor and a Diode also could be used. Right? Just asking. I hope you'll Answer my Question Mate.

I used 22pF ceramic disk capacitors since I saw in the comments that that is what should be used. Should i have used the 0.22uF ceramic disk capacitors as listed in the diagram?

      @meghnaanu5559 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The circuit diagram is present at the last of the video. In the circuit diagram the electrolytic capacitor 10uf at the output should be connected to the cathode of the switching diode or small signal diode 1N4148. Instead of using diode 1N4148 schottky diode 1N5819 should have been used which is perfect for this joule thief boost circuit. The efficiency of the circuit depends upon the parts used such as power transistor 2SD965 etc., Inductor and schottky diode.

The shown video of BC337 is misleading it should be 2SD965.Because the pin configuration with ECB of NPN transistor is matching. The circuit diagram is present at the last of the video.
