"This is the way I shopped for films" This is the way you SHOULD shop for films. Case in hand, description on the back, incredible art on the front. No one should have an algorithm keeping them in a box. Pushing your own boundaries.

Jude Law is one of the most underrated actors of his generation and it makes me happy to see many people on here give this man the respect, as well as love that he deserves.

@vittoriostoraro Not really, no. People who aren't extremely passionate about cinema have no clue who Laughton is. Casuals, which is the majority of people, wouldn't be able to tell you a single film he was in. Even if they'd seen something like The Hunchback At Notre Dame I bet they still wouldn't be aware they saw Laughton in it. Nobody is watching the film & remembering it because Laughton directed it, they are remembering it for how striking & enjoyable a visual experience it is, that's the point. The film wasn't a success either, it took decades to find an audience that appreciates how good it was even though Laughton was at the height of his powers when it was made.

@@heliosfilms_bg You're a bit of a negative nancy, eh? One of the best and most influential filmmakers of the 20th century and you sum him up as just a "trend." What does one even need to say about a Tarkovsky film? They're experiences, you can get lost in them. If the film speaks to you, if you can get on its wavelength: be it Mirror, Stalker, Andrei Rublev, or Sacrifice or any other, it's not asking you to think. It's asking you to feel, to savor. Jude Law himself says he remembers experiences. I bet he remembers the first time he saw Stalker. I certainly do.

Me too! I never would’ve thunk it, but Tarkovsky?! Night of the Hunter?! Wages of Fear?! The man has some damned good taste! Clouzot was magnificent-Diabolique, anyone?? I’ve already got the 30 BluRay Ingmar Bergman collection…I think I’d throw Costa-Gavras’s “Z,” and “The Confession” in my bag, and maybe M*A*S*H for the hell of it. Hell of a cast in it, and, imo, I still find it consistently hilarious and, don’t get mad, but far funnier and better than the series. Robert Altman’s greatest period. McCabe & Mrs. Miller followed, then the brilliant Nashville all in a 5 or 6 year period. 👏🤟✌️🎞️🎥

Love this guy…he was fantastic in Gattaca, very memorable in a role he owned and my introduction to the actor (who has quite a nice-sized family) and he seems as non-chest thumping about his successes as he is honest about his less-than-successful projects and how disappointed he was they didn’t perform better.
I agree w/ his assessment as to choosing films this way: scrolling through streaming choices doesn’t quite offer the thrill seeing a tape or DVD of a film you’re keenly interested in (or have been dying to check out) did for many years.
