Stephen Colbert brings his signature satire and comedy to THE LATE SHOW with STEPHEN COLBERT, the #1 show in late night, where he talks with an eclectic mix of guests about what is new and relevant in the worlds of politics, entertainment, business, music, technology and more. Featuring bandleader Louis Cato and “THE LATE SHOW band,” the Peabody Award-winning and Emmy Award-nominated show is broadcast from the historic Ed Sullivan Theater. Stephen Colbert took over as host, executive producer and writer of THE LATE SHOW on Sept. 8, 2015.
He seems delightful. Cats? Tomatoes? Marvin Gaye? Being appalled by modern fascism? Yes to all of this.
You seem to be in the category ordering: More of the same, please ☺. Roman Holiday or The Holiday with him (and the featured Kate Winslet today)?
what a delightful human being
How is grandpa Pete 😂😅
you skipped what is the WORST smell! Jude Law is not fully known!
Good remark. They twirk the answers sometimes. Could be the answers were ... ahem or not wanted but then again, no lie detector after?!
Glad that I wasn't the only one who caught that. That needs to be Stephen's first question on Jude Law's next appearance as soon as he sits down. No warning or preamble.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I came here to say that.
"Fascist homo sapiens" is gold 🎉❤
Is that what he said?! I heard freshest homo sapiens ... as in, babies which makes total sense, those little buggers are scary
@@Cantblendthis good one mate 😅
Gosh, I didn’t know I could appreciate Jude Law more than I already did. Seems like a lovely man. Petrichor is my favorite smell as well.
I just stepped inside from my fragrant rainy garden today and thought, What was that word?? A few hours later watching this, I anticipated he'd say that. Thanks. Now I know.
He gave the best answers so far, and also the most correct description of why the window seat.
He seemed to be prepared as he never took time to think.
his answers were about as interesting as any person off the street would have
Ryan Reynolds best answers ever. This is pretty goo though.
Jude just broke the Colbert Questionert Sandwich Law. I'm in awww 😉
Quoting Judge Dredd, "I AM THE LAW!" 😂
Damn! Wasn't expecting such simple yet profound answers to some of the questions. Never knew Jude Law was so articulate and cerebral, then again never really saw many interviews of him.
He definitely studied other people’s answers.
There's something extremely gentlemanly about Jude Law.
except when he cheating on his girlfriends
Except sleeping with the nanny
Cats!!! 🐈
It’s almost The Holiday season, and by that I mean watching The Holiday at least once a week from Thanksgiving to New Year.
Same, if not more ♥️
I couldn't take that much sobbing! "I'm a weeper."
I love it too! I love everyone in that film
@@NancyPower33 😂
I've always known that he's a great actor but it's good to know that he is also a good lad.
except when he cheating on his girlfriends
What a very likable guy, and a great actor.
Finally, a cat lover!🥰💖😻
For the record, Nicolas Cage is a cat guy. Daniel Craig, Ryan Gosling, Matt Damon, & Josh Brolin, even Mariah Carey like both! I'm keeping tabs from the very few. Only the cool dudes..
@@rl8275 absolutely!
@@rl8275Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran and Katy Parry are also cat 🐈 people! 😻
RuPaul and Jude Law got "scariest animal" right.
So did Ryan Gosling.
damn did he just say "I don't cheat" and talk about his wife in the same sentence LMAO .... if you know, you know
lol maybe he means currently
The best sandwich is me, my kids, my wife, and the nanny...
I always liked him and his work and this confirmed my impressions.
Wait, hold on, what about his least favorite smell?
And I think the number Stephen’s been thinking of this whole time has been 3.
3 is the only one he didn't say no to, and he didn't answer Jude when he asked if anyone had ever guessed.
Didn't think I could end up falling in love with him even more 😻
Love this segment, and I'm a cat person too 🐈😺❤😊.
Very bright answers. Perhaps because I'm a cat person, too.
😂
Just find him so attractive! Watched the holiday so.many times,!
Stephen dodged the question about whether anybody has guessed the number but he never tells people who guess "3" that they're wrong.
Tonight's episode is The Holiday reunion! Where's Cameron Diaz and Jack Black
I finally realised what the answer to the what number am I thinking of is 'No.'
He's as gorgeous as always, how is that possible?!
The number he's thinking of is 3. A couple people have guessed it and he immediately went to the next question without saying no.
Seems like a decent chap. Just one point: the band is Squeeze, not The Squeeze.
I was thinking the same, but expected him to know better.
Yeah that was weird!
2 different bands. Squeeze is from AUS, the Squeeze is from London
Squeeze (from London) have been around for over 45 years and have never been called 'the'. Going to see them soon.@discospiders
@@discospiders Wrong
Went and looked up Marvin Gaye's "Inner City Blues" as I wasn't familiar with it and it's a jam
This is really good, what a charmer
If anyone is curious and hasn't figured it out yet from previous interviews the number Stephen is thinking of is 3. He's stated that it's always the same number and when someone has guessed 3, which has happened at least twice that I've noticed, it's the only time he doesn't say incorrect. Instead he reply's "Interesting." I love this segment it's one of my favorites the show does but I do hope someday the guest also realizes this and calls him out! It would be epically hilarious!
What a thoroughly charming, charismatic, delightful gentleman. Excellent answers, lovely interview, this was fantastic, Jude is always a win.
My wife always call him 'Lude Jaw', and I used to kinda roll my eyes... until I considered the alternate spelling.
Lewd Jah? 😅
Lewd Jaw?? He is a beautiful man, but he does come off as fake & into himself.
Didn't ask worst smell!
I learned a new word: petrichor.
Just because he doesn't eat bread doesn't mean he can't list his favorite sandwich. I have a friend who's celiac and she loves to talk about all the bread she misses.
I have 2 celiac friends & they can have sandwiches with GF bread.
OH MY FABULOUS GODDESS - have you seen him in the popes? spectacular!!
His hairline is reverse aging. I had a full head of hair when he was almost bald and now he has more hair than me.
Hair transplant maybe?
@@mrk2K10 I'm not sure, to be honest, I know how transplants works and I believe they work better in large patches, but he could do micro-implants to keep his widow's peak, short of rebuild it, in a way that isn't as absolutely ridiculous as Steven Seagal's Vegeta level widow's peak.
omg i was thinking I'd answer "petrichor" yesterday morning if Stephen asked. Jude just freaked me out.
Me too!
@@aninewforest whoa
he's such a charming man
Looking good at 51! But men also are under pressure in the movie business to tend to their looks at they age.
jude law is gorgeous, talented AF, and apparently a fabulous human.
Jude Law my heartthrob 💕💕💕🌟🌟🌟🫶🫶🫶and I’m 74 🥰☺️what a pleasant surprise and a pleasure. Love his answer to scariest animal. 👍🌟
The name of the football (not soccer!) player is Kevin Keegan, not Kevin Keaton (as the subs indicate).
Such interesting responses
Jude should know they're called Squeeze not The Squeeze 🤦
I know someone who has worked on the crew for two projects with Jude. I’ve heard he is one of the absolute best in the business to work for and that he’s really genuinely a very kind person. They said he’s the kind of person that is always genuinely interested in what everyone he interacts with is doing and mentioned how he would regularly ask people on the crew how they or family members are doing.
Strangely, "more of the same, please" is not an original answer - Sting also said that
I’ve always been a fan of Jude Law, now I like him even more.
He is acting like his role in the talented mr Ripley.
Jude Law is too sleek to not be a cat person.
Very good answers!
Jude is SO handsome! 💋🔥💋
5:04 "inner city blues", baby. it's a jazz standard by this point.
More soul than jazz
Mostly I watch those to find out which song but the whole interview was enriching.
what a GREAT, SUPER sandwich, Jude!
Some More Jude Law Please
What number is Stephen thinking? 42
😻
Like Jude. Don't like his infidelities but i do like watching him act.
I'm always surprised when people prefer apples to oranges...but tomatoes??
I'll take a handful of cherry tomatoes over both apples and oranges. I usually keep a container of cherry tomatoes in my fridge and eat then for a snack. I also usually have a bag of apples in my fridge. Sometimes I have a craving for cuties (small oranges), but I don't buy those very often.
I'll take a tomato over those fruits any day. And orange over apple.
Its Squeeze not the Squeeze and they are from SW London.
The Young Pope is one of THE best series ever made!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! stunninggggggggggg
I can't believe he knows πετριχώρ!!!! Ancient greek word, my favorite, can't be found often to other vocabularies!!
Greetings from 🇬🇷
Inner City Blues. Fantastic, smart, choice. Lovely, thoughtful guy.
Uh, what happened to "least favorite smell?!" (edited out?)
Didn't Rodriguez write Inner City Blues, or am I thinking of Establishment Blues? grr
My favorite so far! So original, so authentic!
Never agreed so much with a guest Great answears!
I love Jude!! His answers were delightful and smart lol
I’m sure it’s been said before, but that Life in 5 Words thing…..
people either think 5 individual words OR 5 words in a sentence.
PHD someone, please!!!
Never been a fan of his. Now I know he isn't a dog person....like him even less.
Did they skip "least favorite smell"?
Impossibly charming and wonderful 😍😍😍
One of the coolest names, greatest actors, handsomest guys. And good memory
I'm fine with Stephen! The Questionert is stomach churning. Likewise, Meanwhile! Get a grip!
If you couldn't predict Jude Law as a cat man...knew it...well done.
This is the most stupid questionaire EVER, and somehow I always stop trusting people after it like you Jude. Sorry.
he got the two main answers right: scariest animal is the human and when we die, after there is nothing.
I do not know if anyone else noticed this, but his last answer (describe the rest... ) is EXACTLY the same as Sting's.
His answers were great and all with the exception of “I don’t eat bread” 💔
When Jude made the comment about fascism, Colbert turned his mug around so the show's logo wasn't facing the camera. Why?
❣️LOVE me some Jude Law...also, did the man find the fountain of youth?! No aging here! He's terrific in 'Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil' & 'The Talented Mr. Ripley' doing American accents in both! Amazing actor.
Window or aisle?
Two jokes about picking "aisle":
1. Oh, I just had my hair done.
2. I don't want to fall out of the plane.
First interview of Jude Law I've seen. Seems like such a nice guy.
If I was a popular celebrity:
Colbert: "What number am I thinking of?"
Me: "eight million, six hundred, seventy five thousand, three hundred nine".
Colbert: (if he knew what I was referring to right away) "That wasn't what I was originally thinking about, but now it is."
How do you know if someone is a vegetarian? THEY'LL TELL YOU. (you know that you can make a veggie sandwich, eh, Dicky GREENLEAF)
His favorite smell with the rain always smells like a dirty wet dog
More of the same, please (shit/stuff). Has been said before. While it’s unique I’m also surprised at how many times it’s been said.
Why hasn't Jude Law been tapped to play James Bond?! 💗💗
Mr Colbert, I prefer aisle to window on the airplane because it's a lot quicker and easier to get to the lavatory.
I had no idea Squeeze was British. Lol.
Shows you how much I knew in high school.
Awesome dude!I am a dog person though.
Loved him in Gattaca. His character was so flawed and brings tears to my eyes if I'm in the right mood. Jude seems like a good dude.
Almost everyone answers the smell question either with petrichor or baby heads after a bath. Very few other answers
those were pretty great 5 words too
Lots of celebs find 5 great words to offer on that prompt, but that and the sincerity of his sandwich make me like him more than I already did.
Lucky guy, fruitful fit in career, happy marriage and family, sounds like. Happy for him.
Lovely. I've been a big fan ever since he first showed up on the big screen. He never disappoints.
Finally, someone gave the correct answer to scariest animal!
I will forever have the hugest crush on that man until the day I am no more. And I am definitely on the back nine Of this life!
I always wonder if he is thinking the same number or a diff one everytime? Either way, they day someone guesses it right, sure will be amazing.
