chan is friends with them!! especially jooyeon he calls him his little brother. let’s support Xdinary Heroes new MV stays ❤
It's actually intentional for the end to be repetitive! You can listen to it on a loop (as you can hear the distorted chorus at the beginning), and it then makes a lot of sense since on the MV, they are on some kind of a time loop! The album "Livelock" is a computer/coding term that means "processes block each other with a repeated state change yet make no progress." So yeah, it's part of their ongoing lore. It's very interesting to me so I apologize for geeking out hehe
Love the reaction, thank you! I honestly would recommend any other songs on the album. I think they choose the most, as you put it, "repetitive" songs for title tracks as they are more "catchy".
They are soooo good! I hope to see more of them here ❤
no i've been a fan since debut but i agree with what you said they should be more experimental and rebellious. i think that bc they're relatively new they're finding their own color with time ! the Overload album was their most experimental one so far, but i feel like they're trying out new genres in each album. what they're going for in Livelock is more of a pure rock sound.
If you're interested a good guide for them so you can hear snippets of their songs and covers is by a channel called Dewie called A Helpful guide to Xdinary Heroes (2023)
listen to their bsides!! they have no skips and all of their songs deserve all the love,, i recommend strawberry cake, knock down, pirates, PLUTO (actually the whole livelock album, im obsessed), ghost, xmas and yeah,, every song.
Oh my gosh Teddy finally discovering Xdinary Heroes! (yes, it's a vocal x, please try to pronounce it. Or at least use the abbreviation Xdies (pronounced Ex and -dies like undies). The X stems from extraordinary, not ordinary.)
LOTS of text incoming, you might want a cup of tea for that. (If I get anything wrong, please correct me moots)
Xdinary Heroes are currently mispromoted by the company, so us Villains (the fandom) would be incredibly glad if you would like to listen to more songs and spread the word because the boys are crazy talented and super super underrated. Especially the European audience might take a liking to their style which is (as you have inferred correctly) a mix of punk-rock and nu-metal, with some bits and pieces of pop rock ballads in between. The best quote on their music imo is actually "What do you mean, I get to experience my teenage nostalgia at the same time as my K-Pop phase??!?" which pretty much sums it up for me.
Their discography is insane and the members themselves super super versatile musicians, all of them participating in composing and writing their songs.
You might want to take a look in to their covers (my current favorites are Drown by SoaD (all-time banger) or Hellevater by SKZ), but if you rather take a look at their main discography first, that's not a miss. Start with the title tracks (Happy Death Day, Test Me, Hair Cut, Freakin' Bad), then work your way through Spotify's most played ranking.
When (not if) you find that you enjoy their music, XDH are going on TOUR NEXT MONTH STARTING IN EUROPE!! Details are yet to be announced (another reason why we are very dissatisfied with the handling of the band, we always have to press for information) but it's gonna be insane! Their Christmas Concert last year (called Overture) was so much fun to watch (online streaming concert) and even though they only had one album out back then, offered amazing performances, spectacular vocals and just overall a very enjoyable experience that drew the audience in, even though lots of Villains weren't even able to attend in person.
We have also finally received a lightstick AND IT'S THE MOST PRETTY THING ON EARTH what the heck aaaah. Have a look for yourself, there are several unboxing videos here on TH-cam. I am so looking forward to the tour.
From a Debut-time Villain: THANK YOU for giving Xdinary Heroes a chance! We are so proud of how far they have come, and yet believe that they can go even further!
Some fun facts on the side for closing:
After their debut with HDD in December 2021, Studio J (subsidiary of JYPE, handling most of their business) must have hidden them in a basement somewhere (maybe they forgot them in the old building lol) because it took nearly a year for the boys to come back with their first mini album. The wait was worth it however, as it gave us bangers like Strawberry Cake (don't let the name fool you).
All of the band members are huge Stays and MyDays (Fandom of Day 6, their senior band at JYPE). They regularly guest on Young K's Radio Show and have a very good relationship with all of their seniors. This culminated in a collaboration where Gunil wrote the ballad Good Enough (based on a text he wrote way back when he was a student) and finalised it with the help of Young K.
Their drummer (and band leader) Gunil is a Berklee scholarship alumni and speaks very decent English. He used to live in the US for a long time and likes to converse with Villains in English as it keeps him in practice.
The second oldes Jungsu actually used to train to become a regular idol, so his vocals are higly developed. There are several solo covers you can take a look at.
Lead Guitarist Gaon used to be a computer science student (it is currently unknown if he finished his studies), so a lot of the technical stuff actually makes sense (I study CS as well lol).
Synth player O.de also used to be an idol trainee under SM entertainment, one would not expect a band member to be this good at dancing. The experience shows; and I think (not confirmed) he's the main choreographer of the dance (yes, there's a dance and it's SUCH an hommage to Stray Kids)
Jun Han is the main guitarist. He seldomly sings but his improvs on the guitar often sparked creativity and lead to new songs. He's also very shy but very lovable.
The youngest, Jooyeon, is a vocal powerhouse. Aside that his bass playing SLAPS, his vocals have gotten so much better over the time. He also comes up with some of the sickest bass lines I've ever heard and I've been in the genre for a long time.
Honestly the whole album is insane, xdinary heroes are so talented 🔥🔥🔥

Xdinary is a contraction of Extraordinary, meaning we can all be heroes

The X stands for Extraordinary Heroes 🫡
