In the late '80s to the '90s, there was a ride just like this one at Six Flags Magic Mountain in California. The only difference was that instead of the space shuttle. The ride was a US Navy F-14 jet. Obviously they had it like that because of the movie Top Gun and wanted to cash in on the popularity of the movie without paying the rights of the movie. The ride was just called G-Force. But every one basically called it the Top Gun ride.
