@@Shugg-Goff-HHoffical It’s complicated. It was through the homeschool program I was in (State verified with state curriculum). They gave you a sum of money at the beginning of the semester with which you buy your courses. I believe the course was $200. But, many community colleges have courses like this, and some allow for dual enrollment if you’re still a high-school student. Sometimes Anthro courses go over folklore too, if you can’t find a folklore and mythology course.

It’s always so interesting hearing myths and legends people created to explain something natural about the world. Body decomposition does cause some yucky stuff to be released into soil, but it’s also nutritious to plants. So it makes sense that flowers and trees would thrive on and near areas of death.

Great video, Japanese Mythology and Folklore never cease to fascinate me. It's interesting to think that for those things that escaped from rational understanding, people started since the beginning of time to create legends and myths that have lasted for centuries even until our days. Since in Japan, many of these stories that feature yokais, reside on the borders between the known and the unknown.

I think Shinto beliefs are much older than a thousand years. When the Chinese met the Japanese for the first time, almost 2 thousand years ago, they observed the practices the Japanese performed daily related to Shinto beliefs, such as body cleansing, mourning the dead, clapping for praying and before starting to eat, etc. The unification and structuring of Shinto as a state religion may be around one thousand years old but the belief itself and the practices around it are much, much older.

And his fiendish tale grew more and more Onilike with each generation making the infamous Yokai we know now.
