Brantily Drilling Company had two D-9 in Brazil in the early sixties. Used them to move a drilling rig to locations. Seen them in mud up and over the tracks. Also had a wench with 1-1/2” cable on the back, great moving cats.
Hey man I remember going to work with my stepdad and he was the supervisor for a construction company. They had a couple of D9s but they had the pony motor on them. I love seeing that old iron running and putting in work. I like your channel.

A family construction company here in east central Missouri had a D9 and two D8's they used to pull big ass plow with to turn under sand in the river bottom.

Good vedio Jeff, Use fine steel wool on your windshield. It,ll come right off. I do this to ger cement dust off my wind sheild of the suv i leave out side.It wont scratch it.
When you can buy them at scrap value or less it's almost impossible to say no to something showing any promise of use. Ha..."You know me ...I gotta fix it"... well if you round up a short row of them cheap enough you'll pick one or two to sacrifice quick enough. There's still a lot of odd jobs a sloppy ol dozer can do before it clocks out for good. I've seen more than one old dozer pushing off dumpsites that could hardly turn... but they didn't need to...all they had to do was push mostly, and sit a lot....and it kept the good dozers where they needed them. You were looking for something to do anyways right? LOL.. thanks for sharing

I if it were me I take 3 dozers and make 2 out of them....salvage and reuse what you can to fix killdozer up and the g with blown hoses and cab with ac ...be good.

When you realize you have to many projects you can part the old girl out. I call dibs on the turbo and muffler. It has the same motor as mine. Hell Geoff just box the whole lot up and send it down under. You can keep the blade.
Given that this is THE old Cat dozer channel, I think it's only fitting for you to get another D9! I also have a question for those who know more than I do about these old yellow beasts. About 5 minutes from where I live, there's a few acres of mixed timber that is absolutely littered with old Cats. One among them that is clearly visible from the road appears to be either a D7 or D8, late 60s vintage I'd say, with a big brush rake on it that has likely been sitting for the better part of 30 years. My curiosity (and the desire to see old iron live again) has gotten the better of me, and I'm going to try and buy the machine in question. Is something like that worth saving, or will it just be a massive money pit? For what it's worth, the machine was at least unloaded off the trailer under its own power, and has been sitting with the blade chained up.
Is it saveable? hmm. thats a good question better ask mr Owl.☻ hard to say, good engine good powertrain components, then yes. bad components equals money pit

Yup. Saw that up for sale and wondered if you would purchase it. Being as it was so very, very close. Crossed my mind to bid. Not in your league though.
When used as a dredge anchor the blade is pushed into the ground several feet. The cable running over the top of the blade turns the pull into down pressure. The harder you pull, the more it's pushed into the ground. The arrangement welded on the back of the blade keeps the cable low enough to not damage the nose and radiator, which is probably what happened, and why you see modifications in that area

(0000) extra fine steel wool takes hard water and bugs right off of glass professional window cleaners use it. don't use anything coarser than (0000)
