That looks like the most unsafe machine
Although the machine is built by CE guidelines as to open top skinning machines, you can also play safe and make an investment in a fully automated machine. Sadly enough the jump from one model to another is quite large, so most customers chose to stick with the manual fed machine. As with any equipment or devices (even cars), it is the user that can think (not the machine) and that needs to use it responsibly as prescribed by the manufacturer. It is also good to know that there are special gloves on the market that increases the use of open top machines. We would be happy to provide you more information about those as well as from our equipment and how to improve on safety.
