Thanks for the vid. It worked like a charm and is amazing how much brighter and noticeable when the brakes applied. So many people with huge SUVs here in the states that are on phones while they’re driving.
BTW, have you tried the Brake Force Display to get the brake lights to flash during emergency braking? I enabled it but doesn’t seem to be working. I’ve got a 2017 F56 MCS so wondering if the non-expert macros is not functional.
Hi Ben First of all thanks for doing your Videos they're really helpful. I have had my Bimmercode app and OBD for 2 years now since seeing the first few of your videos but never had the bottle to actually use it until last night when I noticed since having my ECU reset (because I wanted the remapping putting back to factory) my retrofit Rear light Union Jack lights they have started flickering. Having summoned the nerve to put it right I began to go through all your other coding and so far I have Door Handle Lights On In Reverse, Auto Stop Start Cancelled, Audible Lock /Un lock, but this morning I was going to have a crack at having Fog lights as break lights but ... When you said go to Mapping _BREMSL_2_LOutput (and also) Mapping _BREMSL_2_ROutput and change from BFD_L and BFD_R, My F56 Cooper S is set as SI_I and not as yours was BFD_L and BFD_R ..... Is this a problem or will it be ok to change it from SI-I ? Hope you can help Cheers Quinny
Hey nick! I’d imagine it can be done although I’m not sure if the wiring harness is pre-installed. If it’s not it would be the case of installing a new wiring harness which in my opinion wouldn’t be worth it. If that is the case your best bet would be installing a pair of LED auxiliary lights, either the OEM ones like I’ve installed or the aftermarket ones sold by SMPS2012, both are great options. However, they’re probably not that useful in the fog.
Hello Ben, I code the fog light for my friend's car but he has the AliExpress headlight Union Jack and now the break light into the headlight didn't light up anymore, do you know if I can code the break light to light up again ? PS : The coding for the fog lights works but need to find a solution to code the break light again. Thanks for your help
Hey! I’m not too sure what to suggest as a possible solution as mine works correctly, even with the aftermarket Union Jack lights. Try restoring from a backup and trying again
@@BenRolfe I tested on mine mini and it's work perfectly because I have the OEM Union Jack headlight, I think I need to find a good setting for my friend's car.
Hi Ben, just tested for Mini F55 with single rear fog light. It work but the original rear brake light(halogen type) bottom part lights go off after that for both side
love your videos. where can i find all this codes for bimmercode. i bought my mini allready coded with foglights as brakelights, how can i make everything stock again.
Brother. I just realized why my GP brake lights aren't working! If the rear fogs are enabled as brake lights, it will make aftermarket tail lights bug out. I fixed it! MAPPING_BREMSL_2_L_OUTPUT/MAPPING_BREMSL_2_R_OUTPUT must be set to "bfd_L"
FYI.. Has these coded for almost a year. Mine past Mot with them coded yesterday. But only have the original (top part) of the brake light in rear cluster glow.
No problem. Also have the cornering lights coded for front fogs and more of the lights glow as welcome lights upon unlocking. Not tried the internal ASD. Also have the jcw less on the main bezel display (but a bit boring). F55 2015 2.0sd
I have a new video coming over the next few weeks showing how to add Apple CarPlay or Android Auto to the F56 MINIs. With your size screen, this would be the only and best option for you. Stay tuned!
Will this work on a USA f56 with rear fog lights/bulbs but no console on/off switch for them? I’ve never seen my rear fog lights activate before but they appear to be installed...
Yes. You just tap the rear fog light wires to the break light wires. Dead simple process. BTW, you can buy a European light switch that has the rear fog button, and it'll work in the US spec vehicle, plug and play. However, the unintended consequence of tapping your rear fogs into the brake lights is that if you turn on your rear fog lights, all your brake lights illuminate as well, so you effectively lose all your brake lights. Could be fixed using 2 relays, but it's up to you if you want to put that much effort
Hey Ben! Ive put my standard lights back on as my UJ ones are not giving me break lights but now my standard ones are only giving me half a break light circle and not a full circle if that makes any sense! Are you on insta so I can send you a video? You may be able to help :)
@@BenRolfe You reassigned the upper brake light bulb to the fogs lamps, I see only the lower brake bulb light at 4:25 There are 2 bulbs in th housing for brake lamps. Upper and lower.
My MINI F60 came from the factory with Left Rear Lamp top bulb assigned to Brake Light & the Right Rear Lamp(Drivers Side) top bulb assigned for Fog Lamp. Effectively i had NO rear brake lamp indicator on the right side!. I checked the "software coding switch" as detailed on this video and found that the MAPPING_BREMSL for both Right & Left are set as "Switched off" from my dealer/OEM. I did what was detailed on the video and the right side fog lamp(bottom part) was able to activate as the brake light. On the left side the rear top bulb continues to be the brake light. (On my MINI F60> The top bulb is Brake light; The middle have a circular DRL with the turn signal bulb in the middle; the lower most bulb is the fog bulb.)
So damn scha-weet! Did this today on my '19 F55 S. With rear-end collisions so common, I like having the additional brake lights. Thank you!

Worked! Much easier path than other attempts at doing this.

awesome! One question: I already code daylight on the moment car start, possible to code parking fog light to be on together with daylight? Thanks.
Loving the car. I just ordered my Cooper s. Do a car road trip in your mini, that would make a great vid.
Thank you! You’ll love it! That would definitely be an interesting one!
Hello, do you know what is the code to turn on/off with his own rear fog lights button? Thank you.
I hv the 23’ SE. Is that the same coding to turn on the rear fog light? Also, can I code the rear fog turn on when headlights on?
Would this be the same process on a 2013 r56?

Unfortunately not as the indicators have to be Orange

Is it possible to set CarPlay to fullscreen with bimmercode?
Not that I’m aware of, you’ll have to use an ESys cable and compatible software as far as im aware.
NO ! buy on ebay usb stick 40 us dollar for fullscreen
Which BimmerCode adaptor would you preferably recommend ?
I recommend the VGate iCar Pro sold by SMPS2012
