    I'm so excited about this case. This is the first time I have ever seen a case from my town. I am very familiar with this intersection. One of them had to run the red light. I believe it was the plantif. She's saying she had the yellow arrow. I see people turn at the last minute all the time at that intersection. The turn coming off of I80 going south on Torrence Ave is a little tricky. It takes a few extra seconds to get across the overpass to make it to Torrence Street. If you turn at the last minute it is possible that by the time the plantif reaches the I80 east bound exit, the light would be green for the defendant. I've seen people do this time and time again at this intersection.

    I think that the city should put a 5 second delay on that light at that
    intersection to allow the cars to fully complete the turn. This will allow for cars who want to merge to the far let lane to merge safely. The residents in that town should email the city about this particular hazard. A few seconds can save a life. 😮

    There’s no way that the plaintiff could’ve had a yellow light and the defendant could’ve had a greenlight at the same time. There’s no way I would attempt to go through a yellow light with an intersection that big. IMO, if the defendant was going on a greenlight, it’s more than likely the plaintiffs light had already changed to red. And if the defendant had pointed that out, she would’ve won.

  • @looniebinn
    @looniebinn 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +11

    This likely would have had the same outcome even if the Defendant hadn't claimed no defense. When you're making a turn, there's always a lane that you're supposed to turn into. Plaintiff has to turn into the far left lane, and defendant should have turned into the middle lane. Instead she tried to go into the far left lane without making sure that it was clear. It was her fault all day long. I will give her props for being honest in court.

I’ve been in situations where I was in mid-turn, then the light changes for the other lanes and that’s because I tried to beat the red light. Ok hear me out the plaintiff testified that the light was yellow. That means the green light had the right away. Them intersections can go straight or turn so the plaintiffs light being yellow probably blinking she turned to fast trying to beat the light probably not realizing she should of waited till the road cleared before she turned

    Right outcome but for the wrong reason. You can pick the left lane since you’re turning out of the left lane. Defendant is wrong because green doesn’t mean “go now” it means “go when the intersection is clear and safe” and it wasn’t.
