@@MisoSilly Except in the remake of Halloween in 2018 and potentially in Terrifier 3 and Talk to Me and Evil Dead Rise and The Woman in Black and The Black Phone. 😅 Those are movies rare enough to have the balls to do that.
Practical effects were amazing from the blob itself, the imagery of the victims inside of it, and the great gore like wow💀. A very good horror remake that needs to be talked about more. The gaggiest moment was the kid dying cause this movie showed how painful it is to be trapped by the blob and to have a kid suffer through that was really shocking than to have him jump out the water to get help was wild. The child’s parent didn’t know that happened cause ig they killed him off in secret from the mom cause the kid wanted to do it so props to him.
This movie was directed by Chuck Russell and written by him and Frank Daramont. The year before, they wrote/directed A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors
Before the winter season is over, I would *love* a reaction to The Lodge. It's a somewhat fairly well-known flick but I've seen no reactions to it from any of the major channels
Honestly, for its kinda quirky concept, I've always loved how this movie had some real teeth to it. When Paul - the archetypical Good Boy - dies right at the start, it's the movie flat out saying, "No one is safe. Get ready for pain!" XD
I love older horror movies, specially the Blob, Killer Klowns from Outer Space, and The Thing (original version) so much! The graphics and special effects give such a haunting and icky feeling for it to be made in the 80’s and earlier. Love it!
The 80's version of The Thing is actually a remake. The original is an old black and white movie. It's not bad, if you're ever inclined to watch it, but the 80's version is way better.
I feel like quality practical effects just evoke such a raw kind of horror - it's so visceral and unsettling in a way most CGI can't capture (at least not yet!). EDIT: Good GOD now I can't unsee the whole "prolapsed anus" thing 😂😂😭😭😭
Brian and Meg were the original Eddie and Chrissy 🙌🏻 Also, these have to be my favorite practical effects in any movie. Paul’s death is INSANE! Oh and DEFINITELY watch the ‘70s remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers!
If you watch Invasion of the Body Snatchers I would suggest watching the 1978 version starring Donald Sutherland & a young Jeff Goldblum. It's incredible
I saw this in the theater on opening night. I was 20 and a huge fan of the 1958 original. This was an excellent remake, too bad it didn’t do well in theaters. I watch both versions every October for Halloween. You should definitely watch the 1978 remake of Invasion Of The Body Snatchers. I saw that one in theaters too at 10 years old, and it scared the crap out of me! The 1956 original is pretty good too. Love you guys! ❤❤
Funny that you mentioned Ghostbusters 2 at 8:57 because the shot of the slime rising at the beginning of the ghost montage in that movie is actually an unused shot of the blob inside the meteorite/satellite. .
Shawnee Smith started out with a diverse child actor's resume: "Annie", the John Candy film "Who Is Harry Crumb", and a lead in a couple seasons of "Becker" with Ted Danson. She also starred in the forgotten cult series "All is Forgiven" which was way ahead of its time.
I've been waiting for this reaction and it didn't disappoint. I'm so happy Cody enjoyed it as much as Sergio. Since you guys loved this one, maybe check out Return of the Living Dead 1 and 2. Both are campy gross fun and a fun fact is the kid actor that played Shawnee Smith's little brother in this movie is also in RotLD 2. Both The Blob and Return of the Living Dead 2 were released in 1988.
Never have I clicked so fast on a video lmaaoo I was looking forward to your group's reaction to this since your specialty are horror movies. I think that a lot of us are people who grew up with this film were kids and traumatized 😆 but I've always been fascinated by the special effects of this film. Seeing newer generations watching this is a treat. I'm not afraid of the film anymore, but it still is creepy. Fun fact: Anime Fans may know that Beau Billingslea (the town mechanic) is more known as Jet in "Cowboy Bebop." Aaannnnd you already know about Saw so, I figured you wouldn't miss it. 😊 Edit: this movie was released a year before Ghostbusters 2, so I think the same effects were used to create the slime river.
There was a movie that came out, I want to say late 90's, called Phantoms that has a creature that is somewhat similar to The Blob but it did take the shape of people and other animals/creatures. That movie did have Ben Affleck, Rose McGowan and Liev Schreiber in it.
main guy is so fine. he's the type of boys i like. the part with the kid still gets me, i have a daughter, and i hate when any babies, kids die in movies, i get sad, its fucked up, the sink still gets me too, like how? he was crushed going down there damn. please react to Evil Dead 2013! it's one the best ones.
At the job I had during college, we had to do all the bloodborne pathogen-type training. Our boss was young and kinda not into doing the training properly, and one day he just got tired of the whole thing and said "If it's wet and it's not yours, don't touch it." The old dude at the start needed to hear this, and so many other horror movie situations could be avoided by following that simple rule. Also, "Bloba the Hut" had me rolling XD. Enjoyed watching you enjoy this! :D
This movie traumatized so many kids who caught it on TV. Especially since not only do they kill a kid, but they show the kid melting and screaming in agony, so there was no doubt in our young minds that this thing would eat us as painfully as it ate the adults.
Horror movies of the 70's and 80's were the Golden Age of Practical Effects. Lots of them still hold up and amaze people to this day. Glad you got such a kick out of this!
If you want campy, watch the Original 1950s The Blob with Steve McQueen. If you want campy, cheesy, it's so bad, it's good, get the 420 type experience....watch Beware The Blob from the 1970s.
I remember reading about the making of The Blob in Fangoria magazine before it came out in cinemas. So many movies I read about in that magazine and went to the cinema to see when they were released back in the 80's - Day of the Dead, Robocop, Predator and The Fly. 80's movies, like music, are the coolest. 😎
We'd LOVE you to do the Body Snatchers from 1978, with Donald Sutherland, and the one from 1993, with Meg Tilly. They were both so good. You could even do all of them and then compare and contrast. We love everything you do. But yes. Those are our favourites.
The Blob remake is so great, the practical effects still hold up over 30 years later! This movie is amazing and still looks good, I love the design of The Blob and the kills look AMAZING! I’m sad it never got a sequel, hopefully Hollywood revives The Blob for a new entry!
The original The Blob (1958) with Steve McQueen was the first horror movie I ever saw. From where my bedroom was situated just off the Living room, I could see the TV if I lay on the floor and put one eye to the crack under the door. My older brother was allowed to stay up late to watch the late movie and I snuck out of bed to watch it in secret by peeping that way for the whole thing!! 🤣🤣🤣 It terrified the crap outta me and I couldn’t tell anyone why because I would have been in SOOOO much trouble.
I started watching this on my phone and had to stop half way because I knew I had to see it on a bigger screen. So now I’m about to start rewatching it. You guys are amazing!
Highly recommend the 1978 version of Invasion of the Body Snatchers. It still holds up with the plot and practical effects. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time.
The film makers made a grave mistake during production by filming in Abbeville Louisiana, which hardly ever sees snow, in fact its no were near a winter resort. They had to truck in snow just for that scene.
I love this movie, of course for the practical effects, but the script is so good. It does a lot of things that most movie stumble over like introducing a lot of characters at once and have multiple plot twists and makes it all work so well. The deaths were all the stuff of nightmares that even 35 years later are still some of the most gruesome in horror history. Invasion of the Body Snatchers(1978) is an amazing film but is a 70s style thriller while also being a sci-fi horror movie.
I think Killer Klowns was heavily inspired by the original Blob film this was based on, so it's not surprising you'd notice similarities. Great reaction!
I could've sworn they made a 2000s remake of this that of course didn't hold up to the older versions but I was so in the mood to check it out. Kind of disappointed lol. Never saw the 58 version so might have to give that one a shot instead. Can't beat some of these 80s horrors!
The blob looks a lot like a pink plastic bowl I used to try and melt bubblegum in the microwave when I was little, so I like to think it smells like a combination of burning plastic and burning bubblegum
You know, for once I actually respect the gecoverment for tow things (1 they try to play smart And lie that they're trying to fix it,) and two ( They even tried to kill it after that man die and try to stop it~)
The kid dying so graphically in the sewer really caught me off guard especially since in 80’s movies they didn’t normally kill off kids😱
Naa, in 80s movies they were always killing the kid. 90s they became invulnerable
They probably couldn't do it now . ?

When the Blob first landed, it was clear and whitish, the more it consumes, the deeper in red it gets.
This movie was directed by Chuck Russell and written by him and Frank Daramont. The year before, they wrote/directed A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors
Frank Darabont! That's why it has heart!
He's the best! Change my mind.

Is that the one with Alicia Silverstone?
Nice reaction. This movie is criminally underrated. Easily top 3 best horror remakes handsdown.
Honestly, for its kinda quirky concept, I've always loved how this movie had some real teeth to it. When Paul - the archetypical Good Boy - dies right at the start, it's the movie flat out saying, "No one is safe. Get ready for pain!" XD
The classic “Invasion of the Body Snatchers” with Donald Sutherland is so good👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾😎
The only CGI effect is the mini blob glistening in the jar.

Cody with Shawnee Smith was my wife with Mandy Patinkin. I was so disappointed when she said "I don't know who she is" 😆
Also, it was surprising that the town folk were being smart when they barricaded the city hall.
Not Sergio immediately wondering about sticking Dong into the blob, lmao! We Stan!!❤

this is my favorite 80s remake
AND it has a very Amanda Young
