This report is NOT accurate. The issue is not centered around 1 location. It is the result of the 'consolidation' that happened on 2/24. All of metro Atlanta is impacted. Truck routes were 'consolidated' meaning some were eliminated, and where offices used to get daily outgoing mail pickups, last week they only received 1 or 2, where all the outgoing mail for many offices couldn't even fit all on the truck. Please do better 11alive - this is an issue that needs some serious attention brought to it. USPS knows EXACTLY what's going on - it's the impacts from their "Delivering for America' efficiency plan, and they are doing everything in their power to keep these negative impacts hush hush.
@@user-ts7ns7bt2vno, the trucking routes were contracted. In this area, with Davenport specifically. USPS ended those many of those route contracts. There were layoffs, but the issues creating the delays are no trucks coming through to pick up outgoing mail.
Broadview Post Office in Atlanta as well. I sent 4 priority packages on Feb 20 and 3 were delivered and 1 is still in processing at Atlanta NDC. Post Office notices that "Delays of up to 2 to 3 weeks is to be expected with all shipping including express. Please be patient during this transition. We hope to be back to normal within the following weeks."

My package was sent from Arizona on march 1st. Now it’s going back and forth from palmetto and Fairburn. Went to my local post office and the excuse is Atlanta postal services are merging into 1. Im in Augusta Ga. At this point I’m ready to drive and pick up my package.

My lock change request to get a mailbox for my condo has been floating out there with no news for over 3 months. I have been unable to receive mail this whole time. Atlanta truly is descending into 3rd world status.

@11Alive The Palmetto Sorting Facility isn't the only USPS facility losing mail in Atlanta. Two packages sent via Priority mail in January and February vanished as soon as they hit the Atlanta GA Distribution Center. Missing mail reports were filed for both packages but USPS has been unable to locate the them as of this writing. Both packages were sent to an address just 50 miles away. One sent on January 12, 2024 went missing from their network on the January 13th; the other (a replacement for the first one) was sent on February 23,2024 and went missing on February 25th.
Ahhhh....it is not just isolated to Atlanta area. So far in 2024, I've received over 10 reports from clients stating that their item has never arrived, is stuck in transit, misdelivered, or stolen. And the USPS is of NO help! I can't afford to replace the items that the USPS keeps losing, and they refuse to follow up on their insurance.
Sort of expecting it. I'll have to ho yhe hoops, but already talked to yhe shipper, and they will replace the item. Also will ship via FedEx for replacement.

YES! It is happening EVERYWHERE and the people at the USPS respond by arguing with you about missing packages, belittling you, telling you to use their Express service instead, file complaints (knowing it doesn't get resolved), or my favorite: If you don't like it go somewhere else.
Ive had to call the 800 line twice over a month as i tracked my package go sourh go west come to my post office only to leave again . I will give xredit to when i call they put a track on it and usually the next day it's in my mailbox. Plan to wait on hold 30-45 minutes and choose the music you like or they will pick music you may not like.

Word on the street is that they can't keep workers plus, they are doing a “new” hiring practice where the USPS hires people after 90’s days lay them off in order to keep the workers from becoming regular employees with benefits. The USPS wants these same people to be dedicated to the USPS in terms of scheduling, the starting pay is only $18.20 an hour, and playing with the schedule making it impossible to have another job or keep the job with the USPS because they’re playing a dirty game is horrible and tha's why the workers are walking out in heaps, those trucks will stay backed up and people will continue to leave.

This is impacting a large area including north Georgia. And it's not just the Palmetto site, Fairburn distribution facility is also causing its fair share of issues as well. I have several valuable Priority mail packages that have been mis routed out of Palmetto with no scanned updated since Feb and several more misrouted to the wrong post office in Georgia only to repeat going through Palmetto again. Amazon seems to avoid these issues by going directly through the Atlanta distribution site and off the local post office. Several more inbound packages were misrouted out of state to the wrong distribution facility. Two or more might be lost and USPS support is non existent. On good day, a package might be delayed 2-5 days past the expected delivery date- have a dozen or more in limbo, lost, or misrouted as I type this. It's clear that the already shaky USPS has gone off the rails in several US locations (now Georgia) and will only get worse as time goes on. My local postmaster has never seen it so bad in his 35 years of service.

I live between Atlanta and Macon (close to Monticello) and have been waiting for a package since last week. USPS is no help and offered NO warning that these delays were going to happen. It is utterly ridiculous.

No such thing as two day delivery. No guarantee. Estimates only. Two day is the estimated time and not a guarantee. It's a bummer.

The state isn't the problem - it's USPS. Anything run by the government is complete trash. Deliver by UPS, FedEx, or any other carrier instead.
