At LAST ... the ENTIRE CONCERT and not just a fragment as was published before. I saw the original presentation when it was on TV and I fell in love with the entire production, the accompanying singers, the rhythms and most of all, Harry Belafonte. I had always loved his previous songs but this one was taken to a new level especially when the sax performer did his solo but they would always cut off his song as soon as he started and that was my favorite part. I'm so glad that trashy presentation is gone, this is COMPLETE and I will come to enjoy it many more times. THANK YOU to whoever did this. This is a concert worthy of the proper presentation and every bit as good as Simon and Garfunkel, The Rolling Stones or The Beatles.
what is this song about ??? ... an eternal human condition - of-course !!! ... no matter, the song & album is absolutely beyond brilliant ... Thankyou Harry !!!
The original song was by Obed Ngobeni from GazaNkulu, South Africa. the song was titled "Ku Hluvukile ka Gaza" is actually about the development of the Gazankulu people during racialism. It was kind of a protest in a way but done is if he was appreciating, Check it and listen to it and listen to the cover by Mahotela Queens with Mahlathini as well.
@@welcomenyalungu1861 massive "Thankyou's" for the wonderful info ... been a Harry fan forever ... movie Star as well, Buck & the Preacher (Blessings to Sydney), a huge favorite ... incredible what this man has accomplished in a beyond brilliant career ... Take care !!!
From my understanding the setlist of the 1989 broadcast was; Banana Boat, Kwela, Skin to Skin, Nur ein lichen, Matilda, Martin Luther King, Island in the sun, Try to Remember, Aranjuez, Try to Remember (With Nana), Jamaica Farewell, Paradise in Gazankulu. Feel free to correct.
Oh my lost genius, sing to my Afrika. Let them listen and learn to lose their bastard corruption and ffd up grabbing of every viable thing. Please conscience, conscience 😥😤😫😖😣😣

RIP baba Belafonte, I love you so much and thank you for helping us fight apartheid just like the late Peter Tosh.
