Steambot Chronicles(aka Bumpy Trot) is a fun pseudo open world action RPG for the Ps2 that never quite found the broad audience I felt it deserved. It is also rare that you hear even retro Ps2 channels talk about it. If this video gets a sequel, then that is my 2 cents on hidden gems for that great system. Either that or Legaia 2: Duel Saga.
Game combat wise falls apart within 4 hours after you learn a move that literally wipes out enemies in a single turn. The plot falls apart the second you get your Super Saiyan power that literally is nothing at all to combat your stats don't even change at all.... The fuck is the point of it besides visual. Hey, awesome video! I've played ONI on PC though. I got it from those magazine that had a CD game with. It was one of the best action/shooting at the time for me and yes, main character did reminds a lot of Major Motoko from Ghost in the Shell anime series. Now, that "Frogolf" game is something very odd, did pick my interest mostly because it looks really funny. Thanks for this and happy new year!
Robot Alchemic Drive is not only a gem, but if ever there was a game that fits the "hidden" definition, RAD is it. If you make a follow-up to this video, I hope to see my beloved Robot Alchemic Drive included. Even if I don't get the Steam Key (I don't even use Steam, I just love your content). The voice acting is so bad it's funny, the story is surprisingly solid, and the gameplay is just plain fun. Not to mention replayable.

Hidden PS2 Gem "Shinobido: Way of the Ninja" When you want a better and non-linear Tenchu game with more mechanics, Shinobido is the game for you. - Messing with Alchemy for creating Ninja tools. - Placing booby traps around your Home in case invaders came. - Freely choosing jobs from one of the 3 factions you can work for and seeing the effects of said job on future missions.

I happen to have recorded the footage you've used for Grandia 3 haha (it's credited correctly cause I uploaded it to our community channel LongplayArchive so no problemo here). As far as that game's "hidden gem" status goes it's more like a hidden GERM as in it's deceptively good till it's not. Oni is a fantastic game, but the developers probs had very poor understanding of the hardware because it's not just one of the worst looking PS2 games but despite that it's framerate is really horrible at times.
Oni was made by a new branch of Bungie, that only worked on this game before the Microsoft acquisition. That’s not enough of an excuse, sure they didn’t have mastery of the new PS2, but obviously Halo was pretty well optimized and That was the first game that studio made for the Xbox. Oni WAS rushed and almost didn’t exist because of the Microsoft acquisition, but the core concept and work they had done so far was too good to pass up on.
Someone should talk about Graffiti Kingdom. Spent hours as a kid trying to make a Rayman inspired creature only for it to look like the scrawlings of a deranged serial killer. 10/10 game, would sail the high seas to play again.
Battle Engine Aquila Holy shit I never ever thought I would find this game again. Grandia 3: Great music, great graphics, great battle system. Mid character & monster design. Absolutely garbage story, writing, world design, dungeon design.
Not going to explode too hard on this one, but mecha fan gotta say two after seeing Aquilla mentioned. I don't think SLAI - Steel Lancer Arena International got any love in any video yet? The humble "Urban Core" as I like to think of it, small customizable mechs in urban-style arenas free-for-all'ing it up for money. Steambot Chronicles or its PSP port Steambot Cronicles: Battle Tournament are also really interesting mecha games. Kinda give me ridepod from Dark Cloud 2 vibes with how the mecha is designed. And that somehow led to a spinoff adaptation of "Blokus" a tabletop board game under the Steambot branding. What a weird thing to think about.
You should definitely give a try to Shinobido Way of the Ninja (The best Ninja game that was ever create it in my opinion) it's really a hidden gem of the PS2 Era, you really feel like a True Ninja when you play this game, no debate whatsoever, in my opinion it's even better than the Tenchu series. ☯️

I hear people still talking about this series as the better Sword Art Online, but this first set of games are more like Ghost in the Shell in tone than SAO and it's contemporaries whereas it's sequel series .hack G.U. is closer in tone to them. Anyway the reason why I consider these games hidden gems now is because G.U. got remastered, but this first set still hasn't been. Many new fans are also unable to legally play these games all the way through due to how rare and expensive the last game is as well. The developer CyberConnect2 has stated that they want to remake these games someday, but the publisher Bandai Namco has to greenlight that unfortunately. Bandai is more interested in remasters/remakes now than when G.U. Last Recode came out, so hopefully CC2 can get the go ahead to remake these games someday.

Grandia 3 was decent, but never stood out among the other RPGs IMO. Other hidden gems, Mana Khemia: Alchemists of Al-Revis and Mana Khemia 2: Fall of Alchemy. These two games have pretty standard story lines, but OMG, the music. The music in them carry the games and have some of the best battle music I've heard in a game.
Megaman X command mission gets no love and its a hidden gem that blows other RPG's out of the water, but its ok only real ones beat it and found a massively fun and unique RPG with some of the coolest character designs imo
The only flaw here is Grandia 3. Don't know who recommended that lol. Grandia series was popular games, thus spawned sequel after sequel. It's a mistake saying that as hidden gem.

Grandia 3 was severely disappointing compared to 1 and 2.
M.S. Saga Great stuff no one mention 👏 👍 👌
still didn't mention one of the sneakiest hidden gems: Lucinda Green's Equestrian Challenge (2006)
I laughed because I just got an Oxfam ad a few minutes before you mentioned them
Update: the first ad after finishing the video was also for Oxfam.
I played twin caliber on a demo disk way back in the day. it was one the same one as the demo for half life
Fur Fighters and Makai Kingdom 🤙🤙
I agree with the statement made in 0:41
Is there a reason why there are no names of the games in timestamps? It is super annoying.
The reason here is obvious, to make you watch the video. What else lol.
Megaman X command mission gets no love and its a hidden gem that blows other RPG's out of the water, but its ok only real ones beat it and found a massively fun and unique RPG with some of the coolest character designs imo
Yes!!!!!!!Finally some Kessen love.
If you haven’t, play speed freaks
Kinetica is a cool racer.
Wait, did they just forget to mention Jade Cocoon 2 here? Surely that was just an honest oversight, right?
If you spotlighted Roadtrip the other ChroroQ spin off is a must Seek and Destroy dont let the awful cover fool you its a ChroroQ game with tanks!
Chaindive. Lotsa talking but the action is good and fun to play. Hidden gem
Does Colosseum: Road to Freedom count? I'm not sure how popular it is, but i loved it.
Ooh that was just in a similar-ish vid!

The only flaw here is Grandia 3. Don't know who recommended that lol. Grandia series was popular games, thus spawned sequel after sequel. It's a mistake saying that as hidden gem.
How about Blood will tell? I made this game around 20 times and no one around even know that game exist
