Happy Anniversary guys, my better half has been putting up with me for 20 years as of this month. Well, sort of, we've known each other for more than 45 years and dated when in high school. Hope your repairs go smoothly!
I have been landlocked my entire life, mountains and prairies for days. I just found your channel and am captivated by your adventures. Thank you for bringing us along.
So glad you two (and also WYNNS), made it to port in one piece...not counting those pieces deposited somewhere in the Pacific. Your faces tell us everything we need to know about how relieved you must be in New Zealand...good on you!
I've watched you guys from your RV adventures all the way through Curiosity and now your journey to New Zealand, I take my hat off to you both, I don't think I would have the courage to do what you have done. I'm so pleased you got to New Zealand safe and sound! Take care!
Being a fan of sailing vloggers, I feel that I have a platform for comparison. No other hardened, salty world cruisers react that way to a pod of dolphins. You both are such nerds! I love it so much!!!!!
You guys are great! You never let anything get you down. The positivity you both exude is infectious. It literally brightens our lives. Congrats on your upcoming anniversary, you both are so well suited to each other.
I absolutely loved my time in New Zealand and have been excited to see it again through your lens ever since you announced having to go there for repairs.
As uncertain & complicated as your situation is right now, you are true ADVENTURERS! What you are doing and have to do is not easy, yet your attitude, poise, and curiosity for life is a great inspiration. And WOW you are in a NEW beautiful land.... gorgeous New Zealand!!!!! And what a an incredible welcome from the DOLPHINS!!! That looked like a wondrous experience of WONDERMENT and JOY!!! We are so excited to watch and support you in all of your coming journey adventures!!
Yes you fortunate guy, being 15 years with that mamasita, traveling in that manner and the whole future with her, WOW your blessed indeed. Love you guys from Antigua Guatemala, OsoYolo.
I really need to say. I love our country. Its a beautiful place to hibernate in and to see places that I haven't been to yet through your lens. Thanks for sharing. Yes, dolphins are spiritual creatures - what a great welcoming for you guys. Hope you're able to get your waka fixed and enjoy some of our scenery at the same time. How cool 15 years of marriage congratulations. It only gets better. We have been married 52 years on August 20th….coming up. Little slower and few more aches and pains but still blessed for each day above ground. What a difference in weather changes from hot and humid to shaking in your cold hands. Just living the dream thanks for taking us along. Tell Jason don’t feel bad about forgetting to turn on the camera I leave the lens cap on all the time only to watch black video or pictures 😂😂. Stay safe from Fred in Texas.
You already explained on a previous video why you thought you'd be allowed into New Zealand and you were right. I'm late watching this today and I felt it when I was craving my Sunday fix but unable to watch. Good luck with your repairs! 🍀🇨🇦
Seriously one of the biggest concerns right now for us while we are planning out our next few years and sailing is COVID. But, watching you guys get through this and still making it all happen is definitely inspiring.
I have been watching since the bahamas and its amazing that you have made it here to nz hope you get to see plenty of the hawkesbay and coromandel while you are here especially whitianga
Kia ora, welcome to our little slice of paradise. Winter is chilly here but the welcomes are always warm. I'm excited that you are here enjoying our moana (ocean) and whenua (land). I'll be keeping my eyes open on the water to hopefully say hi while you are down here in Godzone.
Every time I sailed around those northern NZ waters, dolphins were almost always around us and sometimes had the odd whale come to the surface, great fishing usually as well. Winter sailing in NZ is great but you definitely need proper gear on.
As always wonderful. I also want to say thank you. My traveller broke today. The same as your did a few years back. Because if your show. I was able to fix on the fly and keep sailing until the wind dies totally. Then my engine overheated and I ended up getting a tow. Life in the slow knot lane
I have a inflatable dinghy and I had a puncture a few years ago. I located the puncture using soap water and repaired it with reparation kit. 2 years later and the repaired puncture is as good as new :) I recommend self repairing instead of paying a fortune to some dealer. Heating up a room is possible using a electric stove, running a computer, simply spending time in a room. Greetings from Finland that experiences horrible winters
I admire your childlike curiosity, it is how I would experience it - but your world seems a lifetime and a span away of mine. Curiosity might be crawling into port but she is stocked full of experiences and people she shared her light and love with - as should all of us.
Awe, Curiosity has seen and experienced soo much (including with her previous owners). She is full of good stories. We'll get her back in shape and she'll be good as new.
Firstly, so glad you made it through your trip to NZ. That was a white-knuckler, to say the least! Your joy at sailing and just taking the good with the bad, and showing it all in the videos makes you a must follow channel for me. One thing I also really like is for your intros, that you match the tempo of the music behind your voiceover, with the tone of the episode. It is very subtle, but over time, you can see that it matches. Great build-up and lead-in! Again, so glad you made it safely. All the best with your coming boat work!
I have watched many of your videos and I thoroughly enjoy most of the music that you often use. Happy 15 years anniversary for whenever that is and keep up the love and adventure for the next 15 years at least. You seem to have the right recipe cooking for that to be reached. I look forward to seeing your journey and thank you for 'keeping it real'.
First, congratulations on 15 years! Our 44th is this week. Second, I wanna see what Leopard has to say about the missing locker. Third, y'all had me sold on a catamaran for cruising, but now I have my doubts, and am thinking a single-hull is the better of the two designs. Take care!
I know Sailing la vogabond has better catamaran and I think funkier that targets younger audience but I can relate better at the Wynns. I can understand the wynns English better and their story has more context. The wynns adventure are more laid back and I like their editing style. Just started watching this blog over a year ago and had a marathon watching since buying their boat.
15yrs!! Congrats! 👰 💐 🎉 You look relaxed and I'm so happy for you two. Camper vanning around while curiosity gets repaired is a great way to spend the time! Looking forward to those vids! Happy life-ing! ❤
Great job with the editing guys, so beautiful to watch. Nikki, looking very glamorous, you make the whole experience look effortless, which I can image is really not! Enjoy the road trip 😄.

Dolphins never get old. I know it's been quite a journey to get here and quite a journey ahead to get everything fixed up - but it's so good to see you here and know that all your work to get this far is starting to pay off.
Ugh, my toolbox and left eyelid are twitching to help with the boat repairs. As a prior aircraft mechanic, I don't handle well seeing the repairs needed and not being able to help. You guys will crush it though, always take the chance to learn new skills from anyone you hire to help!
That's one of my biggest worries about getting our boat. Trying not to focus solely on repairs that won't have a negative impact on actually getting out there. Helicopter mechanic checking in. ;)

It's good you made it to the harbor where your boat can be refit. I'm still wondering about the life raft compartment, I might take a really, really good look at why that left you. So Jason did you marry Nikki when she was 14 because she doesn't look a day over 29. Keep the good stuff coming guys.
15 years of bliss .... and you said that with a straight face ? LOL.. Another great video, I like the repair videos because they show the thought process behind decisions on equipment and where you might go ... Stay Safe & Fair Winds !!
I surely can't be the only one who's surprised and disappointed when I find the end of the video! I get so caught up in the adventure and the scenery and then, what feels like five minutes into it, it's the end and I have to wait another week for another glimpse into your saga! You know... some day you two should edit your travels into a movie or series of movie-like episodes. I know I'd buy it even if I had to live on peanut and jelly for a month! ☺
Yes, we come to regard the Wynns as extended family. It's very generous of them to take us all on their world adventures. We wish them health and safety.
Can´t wait to see U blowing the 15 years candles, I just hope U multiply it by 3, at least, in your life, Greetings from the island of Chiloe in the South of Chile
Funny how everyone (myself included) talks to dolphins in a high pitched voice. They are probably talking about us. “Somehow I thought they would have had deeper voices.”
Congratulations on your 15 yrs of marriage. It is obviously a great relationship that works ,a common interest that you both enjoy I guess helps .Well done on the marriage and getting here to ,New Zealand.
Hey Nikki when I seen you trying to pet those dolphins it made me think of something my mom said to be before she died in 2006 from colon cancer and she told me if you ever need me to come to the beach she would be swimming with the dolphins so every time you see those dolphins you try to pet them for me
Just a quick thanks. My wife and I just finished watching Peaky Blinders (amazing!!) and were looking for our next show. You mentioned Catastrophe, and we watched the first 4 episodes tonight and LOVE it. Thanks, and happy sailing...or repairing.
Got a hole in the bottom of the boat? Aww, No Problem, we'll go sailing anyway. Now that you are safe I sure am looking forward to seeing that hole from underneath looking up. Anxious to know why it failed and how much structural damage there is.
Absolutely loved how the dolphins came to play with you, a wonderful welcoming committee! I look forward to your adventures on land and sea in New Zealand, stay as long as you can because it’s an opportunity of a lifetime!!! 🐬🐬🐬
Marsden Cove-Whangarei (pronounced “Fon-ga-ray”) is top notch for boat work. Y’all are gonna love New Zealand! Don’t be in a rush to leave. There’s so much to see and do there. Some yachtie friends of mine have been “stuck” there since the pandemic. They have made great Kiwi friends. Y’all will too. It’s my most favorite place on earth! I hope you fall in love with the place like I have.❤️ 🇳🇿
Your videos are a life saver. It actually gets me thru the day, i saved your video to monday morning to stop me quitting my total garbage job hahaha, cuz we wanna get into sailing like you guys. Stay safe guys, keep living the dream!
Kia Ora. That place where you have met the dolphins is their home. That pod has been there for ages. Sometimes they even go into the estuary around Karikari peninsula and you can swim with them at Rangiputa beach. Every day you can find them in that location. I love watching them. It would be so much cooler if you guys could hop in the dinghy and play, makes the dolphin experience 10 times better :-)
Welcome to New Zealand. We have a 1960 Chev Impala and tow our 1970 Lilliput Caravan around New Zealand. We are based in Auckland so let us know if you want a catch up. Regards Robert and Nicola from TH-cam channel Little CamperNZ.
I felt the same way as the stripped sided dolphins were riding our bow wave on a “Dangerous Waters Jet Ski Adventure” from Juneau to Ketchikan Alaska in June ‘21.
Sitting here in Alabama, in the middle of summer, makes your comments about the winter weather in NZ a bit funny. Silly question: Do you always present your meals so well, or is it just for the camera??😎
Ha ha, I bet it is weird to see us talking about cold weather. I am big on meal/drink presentations, I think it makes everything taste better. Plus it's fun.
@@gonewiththewynns It was so weird after more than a few years of seeing you in summer gear and swimsuits, to see you wearing winter clothing. Glad that you made it there safely. Praying that your repairs go well and that you find amazing discounts on the costs.
Hi Jason + Nikki, you have so made my day, I am currently looking after my Mum who had a fall, she has dementia really bad since, so tough, however I have said meet my friends online and I guess she loves you too, cheers guys xx

Hi guys, you can catch Kahawai pretty much all the time in NZ and one would be a meal for two. I really enjoy Kahawai filleted, fried in butter with salt and pepper. You just need a silver or white lure. sometimes a little red thread added or a tag. Just ask at a boat store or fishing store for a couple of kahawai lurers. Kahawai is caught trawling (say 3 knots) whenever you see bird action on the water you should be able to easily pick up a kahawai. Also Kahawai (Maori for strong water) is pound for pound the strongest fighting fish in the world. So you will think its a monster but it will only be about 2 to 4 pounds ! Kahawai is also the best bait for snapper so after you catch one you can bottom fish for snapper with left overs. Snapper is rated by Kiwis as a top eating fish. Kahawai isn't rated as high, but not because its not good eating, you just have to bleed it as soon as you catch it and us kiwis are very spoilt for fish and very fussy what fish we eat. So don't get put off, I grew up overseas so I am not biased. Snapper is also pretty ease to catch in the Hauraki gulf (ask the tackle shop for a few snapper rigs and bottom fish with these using left over Kahawai. Good luck. :)

Q&A Here are answers to some of the big questions this video sparked (thanks for watching!):
How did we sneak into New Zealand when borders are closed? That was the question we kept getting and why we used the same wording for the title of this video. Cheeky? Yes, but so is the idea that any sailor could sneak into NZ. So, we share how and why our application was approved in this video to dispel any cheeky ideas. And to help other sailors in a similar situation who may also need to apply.
Q: Who was the TH-camr that made the NZ officials apprehensive?
A: We don’t know, they didn’t tell us who it was. And we aren’t going to judge or assume anything because that makes an ass(out of)u(and)me. It was just a good reminder to us that we are being watched, we need to be respectful visitors, and that our actions can affect our fellow sailors.
Q: Why didn’t we have to do MIQ?
A: We did! We showed quarantine in the last video and mentioned we had just left the quarantine dock at the beginning of this video.

absolutely. same same :(
Yes, we come to regard the Wynns as extended family. It's very generous of them to take us all on their world adventures. We wish them health and safety.
It really does go by fast doesn't it.
You two are my favorites to watch. Because, well, many reasons! Thanks for sharing your lives Nikki and Jason!
You never need to apologize for having a sponsor, it helps you keep providing worthwhile content for us all. Good luck with the repairs.
Happy 15th Anniversary. Enjoy New Zealand and van life
Can´t wait to see U blowing the 15 years candles, I just hope U multiply it by 3, at least, in your life, Greetings from the island of Chiloe in the South of Chile
I think thats a very nice exemption for those people who depend on their boat being in shape to continue being able to allow them to live.
Funny how everyone (myself included) talks to dolphins in a high pitched voice. They are probably talking about us. “Somehow I thought they would have had deeper voices.”
Everyone? You need more friends.

Congratulations on your 15 yrs of marriage. It is obviously a great relationship that works ,a common interest that you both enjoy I guess helps .Well done on the marriage and getting here to ,New Zealand.
Love, love, love each & every episode!!! Thank you for sharing your adventures!
Just as I was mentally doing 42°F-32 divided by 2 the answer appeared on my monitor 5°Celcius. Thank you, it was very thoughtful of you.
Hey Nikki when I seen you trying to pet those dolphins it made me think of something my mom said to be before she died in 2006 from colon cancer and she told me if you ever need me to come to the beach she would be swimming with the dolphins so every time you see those dolphins you try to pet them for me
Honey! Oh my God. You make me cry.
@@Udontsay948 o don't cry. I'm sorry..it just those dolphins were beautiful .
The first & only time I saw dolphins, I bawled. They are so beautiful.
I met a real person who remembered his past life as a dolphin but that will be another topic :)
Oh Susan! What a lovely thought, to spend eternity swimming with the dolphins! ❤
I realize boat work is not much fun for you, but I quite like the project so I hope you will be taking us along for those. Thanks for sharing!
I hope you fall in love with the place like I have.❤️ 🇳🇿
Jason sounds more than a little like Mrs Doubtfire when he’s talking to Dolphins!
He did, I heard
"Helloooo" made my day! Lol
LOL. I read this comment just before seeing the dolphins. About spit out my coffee when I got to 8:30
I was thinking Julia Child, but same idea. ;-)
I thought his underwear was in a knot
Your videos are a life saver. It actually gets me thru the day, i saved your video to monday morning to stop me quitting my total garbage job hahaha, cuz we wanna get into sailing like you guys. Stay safe guys, keep living the dream!
just a quick tip, if you find yourself without mittens or gloves, use socks to keep your hands warm.
Look at me, the early bird from Prince Edward Island in eastern Canada. I look forward every week to your beautiful and honest videos.Thank you!
Quebec here, Canada represent!
Ontario is in the house too!! Mornos Canada!!
Ha, 3'C sounds lovely.
And BC too! The smoke fest!
...and another Canuck from Ontario!
Welcome to New Zealand. We have a 1960 Chev Impala and tow our 1970 Lilliput Caravan around New Zealand. We are based in Auckland so let us know if you want a catch up. Regards Robert and Nicola from TH-cam channel Little CamperNZ.
Love my Sunday mornings. A hot cup of coffee with the Wynns. Great vlog guys.
@@gonewiththewynns Good point. When everyone's tired and worn down, even the appearance of a well-prepared meal can be a huge spirit lift.
Lights, make up, camera, action.
❤️the New Zealand Welcome committee!
Congratulations on 15 years wedded bliss!!! May you two have many more sharing the adventure together...
I loved your excitement when dolphins swam with you all! I'd be doing the same thing, including saying goodbye to them :). So glad you all made to your latest destination safely. Looking forward to seeing your road trip adventure too! I concur on Cooking with Nikki recipes. Cheers!
Congratulations on 15 years! My parents were married 73 1/2 years; Mom passed away just last year.
Another awesome episode! Thank you
Hi guys, you can catch Kahawai pretty much all the time in NZ and one would be a meal for two. Good luck. :)
Background song was most amazing 😍
Im originally from Wellington in new Zealand. Watching u a longtime . Love u long time guys. I now live in australia in a town called Moe. For the last 40 years. Followed u on to zatara . Then followed zatara around the coast up to top of australia.

Such good content. Documentary, Adventure, and Reality all rolled into one. Thank you for sharing your adventures that most of us are unable to do.
You had pirates that stole life raft?
@@karenmax5999 no, they hit a huge wave that ripped off the carriage that held the life raft among other things.
呃呃呃呃呃呃的
Happy Anniversary! Enjoy the ride together as the only thing any of us really have is time, and we never know how much w3 really have.
How can you guys be so happy all the time, what a great life you lead
Right?? I wish they'd can some of that and sell it...to me! lol
the naia came to welcome you to Aotearoa. What a gift!
