Meridian secondary school's Gamelan Ensemble is the first school in Singapore to perform using a full Chromatic Gamelan Set during the Singapore Youth Festival, Arts Presentation in April 2017. They are the only school in Singapore to own the full Chromatic Gamelan set. Their style and fresh sound produced throughout the years is proudly known as the 'Singapore Style' of playing the Gamelan. It is uniquely found in Singapore only and the creator of the unique contemporary style is, Music Director, one and only, the late Mr Mohamed Khamis Selamat.

The Angklung, Kulintang and Gamelan full chromatic set orchestra are all originally come from Siglap Secondary School which the name unfortunately, is erased ever it since merge with Coral Secondary School. School name and History is not preserved. I am an ex-siglapian and I Don't understand why the government allow certain well-known school like Yusof Ishak Secondary School to stay while Siglap Secondary School to leave. Both have Rich history but it appears that Siglap Secondary School is less.... valuable? Of course we understood the merging importance but it is reprehensible to allow one rich historic school to stay and neglecting the other. But Anyway, amazing Performance by Meridian SS. I only hope that this music and art will be passed on to younger generations in the future.

turut bangga gamelan bisa menggaung di luar negeri.. biar lebih menantang... harusnya membawakan lagu klasik dari daerah gamelan itu berasal.. agar tidak menghilangkan ciri khasnya.. satu pertanyaan buat mereka... apakah mereka juga paham nada slendro dan pelog??.. kalau tidak di ajarkan sama saja hanya memakai baju tanpa mengenal si pembuatnya... salam seniman dari Jawa...

Gamelan diatonik. Timbre instrumen gamelan namun bernuansa diatonik. Tak jadi masalah yang penting instrumennya dibeli dari produsen gamelan Indonesia.

Abbas Ayub yup this isn't the Pelog or Slendro Gamelan. This is Chromatic Gamelan.
