  • What is that stuff in their hair? I need to do WHAT to my athletes hair? How am I supposed to put my athletes hair up so that it doesn't fall out in the pool?
You are not the first one or last one to have these questions! Knoxing might not be everyones favourite part about artistic swimming but it is a right of passage and we promise it gets easier!
There are lots of different techniques when knoxing and everyone adds their own flair, but these are the basics to get you started!
    To knox, you will need:
-Bobby pins (AT LEAST 1 full pack)
    -Comb / Brush
-Hair Elastics x 2 (or more)
-Knox (~6 packages or 8 tablespoons)
-Hair net (one for each time you have to knox)
    -Springer if needed (bangs)
-Container to mix knox in (Empty yogurt container, cream cheese container, etc…)
    -Fork to mix knox
-Towel & Shirt that you are willing to get knox on
    -Kettle
Some pro-tips on making great knox include:
-Make sure you are starting with boiling water
-Always start with a clean bowl
-Start with 3-4 packs of knox (~3 tablespoons) and add water.
-You can add more water after you have started if it is too thick, but don't add more powder or it will get very clumpy
    -Apply knox when still hot
-Stir at a moderate pace, not to quickly
-Use a fork to squish clumps into the side of your container.
