Its not only the economic damage to the victims and environmental damage of all those wasted tires but also a safety concern. Modern cars drive surprisingly well on a flat tire and with the radio blasting you may not notice it at all until that tire shreds and the driver loses control. It would only take one out of control car to kill someone and then this guy would be facing a murder charge. He should not only be charged with the vandalism and force to pay restitution to victims but also charged with reckless endangerment on every victim and go away for life.

I'm a truck driver. I was in the Florence KY (just south of Cincinnati) area a few months ago and came across a guy pouring a small bucket of nails at an intersection near Walmart. I got part of his license plate and complete description. I dialed 911 to report it, but the 911 operator didn't seem too concerned. I followed the guy for a few minutes and called back to update 911 of his location, but the lady seemed agitated that I was "so concerned." I couldn't believe #1 that someone had such a worthless life to do something like that, and #2 the police didn't seem to care.

Whenever I've called and they weren't equipped to deal with something right there in their power, it's never been an issue to transfer me to the appropriate channel. By just blowing stuff off, the operator is just wasting time. If it came back that someone had a blowout that caused major property damage, injury or a fatality and not only was it preventable, but the initial report was blown off, do you think that dispatcher would still have a job? Why people why? We had a guy doing that but he went all out and made nail caltrops. We were in a rural neighborhood where most of us knew each other. He did it before we moved there and then when we were there. All four tires ended up either being repaired or toast multiple multiple times. The last time just before we moved we got a flat- took it to our tire place and the guy said "Well he outdid himself this time there's 3 caltrops embedded." Over that two years we also had random sharp, shaped pieces of metal embedded as well. It was a dangerous skinny road where if you blew a tire you wouldn't be able to safely react given the drop offs and bluffs butted up to the road, including an epic S curve. If you ask me these guys should be charged with attempted murder. To the cops who went way above their job, thinking of that solution, I salute you!

There was a person in my area who'd empty bags of shredded paper while he drove through residential neighborhoods...not as damaging as nails, but just as frustrating to clean up...

That arrow on the side wall is not indicating where the hole was, but where the valve stem was when they dismounted the tire so they can reinstall the tire in the same position to avoid rebalancing it.

Why isn't this guy going to prison? Vandalism with costs exceeding $10k dollars in damage each time. Whoever the DA is needs to be removed, replaced, and get somebody who will uphold our laws and punish the guilty and protect the innocent.
Same for any Judges giving this guy bond to walk free after being arrested. People lose jobs, kids miss school and tests, and nobody cares that you got flat tires because someone who hates life threw thousands of nails on roadways to ruin people's lives.

30 years ago I was driving down the highway when a 500ct box of romex staples flew out of the back of the truck. I did the neighborly thing, I pulled over and tried to pick them up, but nobody would slow down. I said fuggit, I climbed back into the truck and kept going to the job. I hoped no one got a flat.

That arrow is for balancing not for marking the location of a nail, the flat repair shop didn’t want to rebalance the tires after the repair.
