I met Yngwie in 2005 during his Unleash the Fury tour. I brought a Steeler album with me and he geeked out over it. He signed it, gave me a few guitar picks and then talked with me for a while. At the show he said what’s up from the stage and threw me a pick. He’s a cool dude.
He plays a stratocaster and sounds like Yngwie Malmsteen, he plays a Les Paul and sounds like Yngwie Malmsteen! he plays on a broom and sounds like Yngwie Malmsteen!…OMG even his coffee machine sounds like Yngwie Malmsteen..he is truly a master💪💪💪

Listened on your first record sometime in the 80'ies. A friend who was studying music (piano) in Moscow bought it there and the record was a gift to another friend. We would sit there for hours just trying to comprehend what was going on there musically. Without ever hearing about you before I said then and there, "I hear maestro Paganini only on a Stratocaster". Thank you for making this world a little better place for us mortals Yngwie. I've been into guitar since I was a kid and play a bit. Over the last few years what I notice the most is the soft touch of the picking hand....the control. I notice I've always picked too hard.
The worst Part of Yngwie, is there will NEVER be another. That Is an absolute tragedy. As a very 80's child, my teens were very much forged with the likes of Mr Malmsteen. Yngwie is not just about speed playing for i would go to hell to play vibrato like he does it! Every note is like the last, and there is great feeling expressed through his master control of vibrato..

Just got a 2021 Fender Yngwie Malmsteen model guitar! Was on the waiting list a long time for a new one and when I got an email saying it was available I jumped on the chance and bought it the same day, the next day they were sold out again and I see why, not only is he an amazing guitar player he has designed one of the best guitars in the world, love this guitar ,like him, it is like nothing else! Best guitar I have ever played or owned!!
My friends as I said in another comment: Yngwie will be remembering like a master, classically respected and fast in his interpretations. I love the high level music he does for us !!!
I’ve been playing guitar and watching you since I was a kid. I used to “nonsense shed” all over the fretboard. It basically took me a lifetime to understand what and how your playing. You have become an icon! For some reason it’s nice to see one of my lifetime guitar heroes not looking like my grandpa!

That’s VERY interesting….Yngwie used his EAR as his criterion for developing his picking technique …Thats very unlike today when students are told ‘you must do it this way’ and practice and get on with it….Because Yngwie was very much an EAR player he could HEAR which picking approaches work better for HIM….It’s fascinating to watch while listening to actually. His movement is SO economical yet So ACCURATE at speed…He once even compared the motion as being similar to a motion when people are doing KNITTING of all things …lol…Some people might think that sounds crazy but when you watch people knitting it’s the SAME kind of fast, accurate and economical movement !

Yngwie you inspired me to play guitar when I was growing up on the 80s and I became bettter than most all my friends and local players. People either love it or envy it it seems. I since found Jesus and got saved "born again" spiritually and humbled myself. One of my favorite Christian bands is Golden Ressurectoin from several years ago their guitarist has your influence for sure. Maybe you could write a new song for Jesus? God Bless man I hope we have guitar in Heaven it would be such a pleasure to honor Jesus with it as well. 🙏☝️👍
