I love these guys!! Such amazing players !!! I first saw Yngwie open for AC/DC in 1985 on the Marching Out tour and I saw Vai with David Lee Roth on the Eat Em and Smile tour in 1986. They both made me want to practice guitar more. Also they were cool enough to pose for pictures since I was in the front row with my old Kodak Disc camera 😂🤣🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽

I had a December 1987 Custom Shop Yngwie Malmsteen Stratocaster , Vintage White With Rosewood Fret Board . I Was In a Luxury Condo at the time and got in trouble for playing too LOUD .

Yngwie, I totally enjoyed this talk and your channel.
The bit about "Listening to yourself" standing out side yourself.... In my musical circle we call it 'The Thousand Mile Stare' It a surreal feeling when it hits. Nice to hear someone talk about it. Those moments are why I keep making music. You and Via can play circles around me but we do share at least that one thing in common.

I have played Bars were things caught on fire played at bars when there was gunfights I played at a nudist colony for a biker party 12,000 people where I've had to close my eyes and just concentrate on the music it's nice to hear my Idols go through the same thing ~ still ~ haha. The first Yngwie record I got was in 1986. It might have been out for a while by then, but it was quite hard to find in the U.K.. Before I heard the record I’d read so much in the press about this guy who was just an incredible player. Being somewhat sceptical about the hype, I remember listening to the volume swells at the start of the record before the first track kicked in. Well by the time the record had finished I was utterly gobsmacked. I’d never heard anything remotely like it. It’s a moment I’ll always remember. People forget before Yngwie, rock guitar was mostly a jumble of pentatonic licks and tapping often badly jammed into records. Yngwie lifted the whole thing up a level in a single step. I don’t think anyone else in the last four decades has achieved anything similar.
That was absolutely awesome!!! It's so interesting to hear great guitarists talk about their journey and passion for music and guitar, people just don't realize how much pain and effort it takes to be a great guitarist, they think it all just happens magically and effortlessly. But I think if you genuinely love music and guitar, the aches and pains of being a musician/guitarist will not phase you as it would for people who aren't genuinely in love with music and guitar. Guitarists like Malmsteen and Vai are so great is because they have a great passion for music n guitar 🎸 ❤ 😍 👍

Yngwie is so right about playing with heavy picks. I just won't play with a light pick because it's so hard to get the timing consistent. I never thought about why I hate light picks, but that's it, it's hard to match the movements of your left and right hands.

Seeing my first video interviews with Yngve here. And Yngve with Rick Beato this week. And also Joe Bonimassa with Rick, I learned this. Both these guys always have a guitar in their lap. Like an extension of their body. They both probably still sleep with a guitar. Hilarious.
Have been a fan of both of these guys since the 80s. I heard Yngwie first and others so at 16 I decided to buy an Ibanez RG550 as my first guitar...because "nobody was playing Ibanez" it was Fender Kramer Gibson etc. Not too long after I heard Yankee Rose for the first time and I'm like who the hell is this and then of course I find Steve I in a magazine holding an Ibanez. Lol still have that guitar and a classical I bought because of YJM. Good memories

You guys are so nerdy you're not even doing coffee with coffee and guitars?? BTW I worked at an importer when Rising Force came out Yngwie, and it wasn't Japanese pressings we were bringing in that broke out. It was Dutch and perhaps UK. We loved the shipments from Holland. Great taste over there.
