Also your companion has unlimited ammo so give them like a mini gun that eats up alot of ammo that you don't have to worry about supplying them as long as they have 1 bullet they are set for the duration
Companion AI is terrible half the time mine don't even fire. I think you are better off taking the Isolation perk to get 40% more weapon damage and extra resistance.
Different experience with my companion as she's fierce. Lol. Probably depends on their backstory. Andrejia is cool, gave her 1 grenade and she's been making it rain grenades on fights. Lol. Love her.
Dont forget, you can trade inventory with your ship up to 250km away. So you can do it while in most towns amd such. Buying huge amounts of materials then tranfering to your ship is always nice
Fast travel is cool when you're need to quickly pop back. But don't always do it as the game is full of random encounters that lead to some epic stories and adventures....
Yes agreed I changed the way I play yesterday. When I do a quest where I go “fetch” soemthing. I wander around there and let that take me wherever next. Takes too much time to go quest by quest across systems

You can rename any ship go to the ship builder and do a flight check, then go to the weapons tab and for some reason the edit ship name feature is at the top of that tab.

When you tell followers to wait or when the game forces them too if they arent allowed somewhere with you. You get a side quest that uou can find in the activities tab called collect waiting follower or something like that. It will add a quest marker to your follower if you make it active.

1:00 There's a tiny chest on a table in the basement with infinite storage and linked to the various stations there, the one in your room isn't linked. 3:00 the game remembers where you drop things and if you drop them in the ship you can carry them with you without it counting towards its limit. this will probably be fixed soonTM. 8:00 The guns also hold a small amount of ammo so early on it may be worth grabbing them as you can just drop them. 18:50 companions only need 1 ammo to fire, they will never run out of bullets or grenades.
for the first bit there is also a storage container in the lodge's basement with unlimited space which is great for putting crafting materials in so you don't have to run around too much
Keep in mind, when you create your outpost, if you want to decorate it with all that junk (set dressing) you find laying around, keep it in your inventory. Once you're in your outpost, drop that item on the ground, open the outpost editor move function and mouse over/select it and move it to where you like. Keep in mind that this is somewhat limited on how/where objects can be placed, hopefully they expand on this feature later on. Enjoy!
Something I literally just realized is there’s a way to highlight all your quests in the mission screen. Then use your scanner to see what’s what. Before I was clicking on the one I wanted to do so it would put a way marker & then I’d do them one by one which was frustrating when it happened to be in another part of the city. I prefer to just do them organically as I cross paths with them.
I'm obsessed with this game, I'm only 24hrs in at playtime and my only complaint is the gun modding. I wish it was more like fallout. Other than that it's hands down GOTY. Some type of online play (it's own mode) would be awesome, imagine you and your buddies traveling thru space looting and smuggling contraband and getting into dog fights with other players!
Ammo tip I found by accident. When given companions ammo for unlimited ammo. On console hold left stick to the left and the left D pad and it'll move ammo twice as fast. Handy when you have to move over 2000 rounds to 1
Ooohh the spaceship tip is gold! It took me forever to figure out how to power up my gravity engines. I am not a space pirate this first playthrough, lol.
Outworld and the Weapon shop give more credits for Clothing, Space Suits and Weapons. Outworld is in Commercial area and the Weapons Shop is in the Residential area.
I did not know followers could wear armor. Thank you. I sold so muchi could have equipped them with. Welp now i know what ill be doing. Getting them equipped.

even with the UI fix I still had a real hard time figuring out how to transfer items to the cargo hold, I almost had to resort to looking it up, some things this game does incredibly poorly and slowly, like equipping a new weapon or eating out of your inventory (you can press E to do that but it doesn't say it anywhere) 13:40 that sounds like an easy way to avoid contraband scans
Yall do realize you can set any taken ship as your home ship in the starship screen, you can also pay the registration fee in this screen without going all the way back to a starship technician. And theres a weapon tier system like in Fallout, calibrated is better than modified which is better than the standard named weapons, etc etc
I messed up on so many things just for instance I'll be missing two-thirds of the faction storylines because I chose the wrong minor attribute during the character creation also sinking money into the frontier ship and multiple other things the bad part is I'm already 50+ hrs in😂
One affliction I discovered the hard way that you cannot remedy, unless you go to a doctor, is addiction to chems. I didn't even know I had it, and I was wondering for the longest time why I wasn't able to carry as much as I used to. Found out that it's due to addiction, and I tried resting - didn't work, and the aid item "addichrone" only temporarily remedies the negative effects. But you need to see an actual doctor to permanently remove it.
If you give your companion contraband, will it trigger authorities when you're scanned? Or does it only matter if it's in your cargo hold or inventories..
I saw in a early video somewhere that you could grav jump out of a space battle. But i don't think its true... n can you escape from a losing battle in space ? So far i die there the most
so, when you load into a ship battle, a lot of times, you have a couple of seconds before the game flags you as being "in combat" where you can open your menu and fast travel (aka grav jump) out of that instance. if you do it fast enough you can get out of the fight
You can, but you can only jump out of the system. You cant travel elsewhere in the same system. But allot your grav pips quickly bc if you dont, they may disable your grav drive then you'll be dead in the water. It happened to me, tried to jump but took almost 6 sec and they were able to disable my gdrive and destroyed me.
Question, you can not access your ships inventory from anywhere on the planet correct? Let's say your off exploring and you forgot ammo, you can not go to ship then cargo and pull that ammo from miles away correct?
That's correct. you can't pull ammo from your ship while on a planet, unless very near/inside it. But your outposts can pull from the ship when it comes to building them using the materials stored in the ship. Fortunately ammo has ZERO weight, so there's no reason not to carry all of your ammo on you all of the time :)
@@OrishiBlackMoses You can pull items from your ship from a limited distance. Since you have to be pretty close to your ship, it's not much of a big QOL feature, IMO, but at least it saves you from loading back into it.
Make sure you know if your buying or selling from a vendor. I just spent all my money on maelstroms. Then sold them back for 20% what I bought them for…

The fast travel sadly makes contraband smuggling super easy as you will almost never encounter scans in space, while regular system jumps almost always ends in a scan.
Not true. You only get scan if you enter a planet in a new star system, and you cannot fast travel straight into/land on a planet you will fast travel to that star system first then land. I cannot go anywhere with contrabands. I just sell it within the same star planet where I picked it up.
I think the storage box down in the crafting room in the lodge is a better storage space for your junk. It’s way closer to walk to when you go in the lodge
Your priority categorization "white weapons" is wrong. The weapons are normal just the name Beowulf or AA-99 a better version of that would be CALIBRATED , the best DPS being offered by ADVANCED this are straight up better weapons in terms of all the stats including DPS. Things can go from like 7dmg for normal to 24 for advanced. The beautiful colors are just to tell you how many mods you can add on that weapon so ideally you should have a legendary advanced but when you make a comparison between the 2 I guarantee you that a legendary orange weapon with only just the name (even if one of the mods is armor piercing mag - which is the most DPS that you can get) will be out DPSed by a "white" Advanced version of the same weapon. Example an Orange AA-99 can do 40dmg/shot, if you put armor piercing mag on it will do 48, an Advanced AA-99 will do 74 and 82 with apr... in this case a white weapon will do almost double the DPS straight up, it won't have so many slots to put mods on but you are way better off with the dps increase than the Orange stuff.

Bonus tip…. Don’t rush to new game plus . Immerse yourself let the side quest come to you randomly while doing main quest. Let it be an actual sim

Go to the basement in the lodge and get the spacesuit it’s a beast no lock picking skills needed. Make use of glitch !!!!!
Tip: You can mine way faster with the cutter of you hold right click while mining with the laser.
Or you can find the legendary cutter GL

I don't know if it's been posted but if you mod a stolen weapon it no longer carries the "stolen" red flag and it won't be confiscated.

Resources are the heaviest parts of your inventory. Don't underestimate the stacked weight!
There is a 4th type of medkit, it heals some aflictions at same time. About lvl 45 you see it

Dont rely on autosave. The autosaves eating themselves bug has made its return from fo4. 30 hours of play gone. Theres something they didnt tell ya
why would you rely on auto saves in a Bethesda game tho, that’s on you
Manual saving every 10 mins or so mitigates this
Another point with ship storage, there is a skill to increase cargo capacity, level 1 is a 10% boost, if I remember right at max its a 50% boost.
great point! The skill you are referring to is called "Payloads" and is under the tech tree!

That scales off of the ships storage. I stole a galbank ship that was around 3900kg. So max 50% would add 1950kg

Example an Orange AA-99 can do 40dmg/shot, if you put armor piercing mag on it will do 48, an Advanced AA-99 will do 74 and 82 with apr... in this case a white weapon will do almost double the DPS straight up, it won't have so many slots to put mods on but you are way better off with the dps increase than the Orange stuff.
