Great Jeans losing her mind yet again. Next it will be Stacey.
The river scene with her and Stacy in the water and her in a wedding dress will be interesting and sad.
I think Jean is going to plan a wedding for her and Harvey as one of her "surprises" and when he rejects her proposal she loses it and tries to kill herself.
I liked that but this part of the story was its absolute nadir. We shouldn’t be laughing at a sick woman making a complete show of herself but there was no other way to take the knicker-castle stuff. 2-year-olds have more straight-laced intent when they’re up there and they can’t even walk properly, let alone bounce to anywhere other than where the pram and milky bottle be at. Not so much a hard-hitting depiction of mental illness as it is something to not watch while eating to avoid choking yourself to death with unintentional laughter. She’s better off in a lithium-salted bath with a rubber-duckie or two thrown in for good paediatric manic measure.
Just keep her away from the other nursery kids unless they have knees that can withstand a bouncy castle (not even a concrete pavement that would actually wound someone, like).
Jean’s come on tremendously since this part of the storyline ended. She’s getting more like her old self now and stepping into a solid grand-maternal role (a bit like Dot) but she was unwatchable for virtually all the 2010s for the most part and right up until the middle of last year. She was basically a squeaky sausage-cartoon during the Shenice/bouncy-castle years.

Even though Jean needs to learn that she isn't allowed on the bouncy castle with the kids otherwise she will hurt the kids and I completely agree with Stacey here Jean won't be allowed to see the kids until she gets better

As a kid, I'd fall on pavements and hurt myself regularly. It didn't mean I got to stay home from school to totally eliminate the possibility of me falling and hurting myself.
They changed the kid who acts as Arthur again the last one looked more like Kush and he was mixed
They did but at the end of the day Arthur’s only a kid. The only kid character who was worth paying attention along any lines was Ben Mitchell (Charlie Jones’ version) and he would’ve been lame in the way he was whether he was black, white or purple.

They're gonna conspire together to 'do what's best' for poor Jean & send her to the nut hut.
Or another way of saying that would be that her family recognise the signs of a manic episode brought on by her bipolar and arrange for her to go to a psychiatric hospital so she can get the treatment she needs to be more stable. So much for removing the stigma around mental health.

It’s a lifelong illness. Episodes come and go and medication doesn’t completely eliminate the risk of future episodes. It just makes them less likely. Doesn’t mean they can’t still break through.

Stacey’s always amazing but this one of the most excruciating low points in Jean’s characterisation ever and it’s ironic how the way Abby/Vicky Pollard 2.0 described her back in ’05 out of ignorance (when she was a very serious character) ended up being who she actually became a couple of years later.
I don’t know why so many people keep liking this clip and enabling the show’s more modern nonsense.

She has bipolar
Bipolar
Bipolar (manic depression) but she doesn’t have it in the serious, gritty way she used to. Nowadays she has it in a cartoonish version that mostly just makes her come off as someone with special needs. And they did gradually make her seriously stupid after her first couple of years in the show (and even then there was some really rather silly stuff in the middle) so without a contextual overview of her history and watching her earlier stuff you’d take her to be someone with severe learning difficulties by now. She still has glimmers of brilliance but for the most part she’s now like “look at me I’m a woman-child who happens to take lithium and dresses like a 3-year-old.”

Always the same....Jean's family suspects she's becoming mentally ill again and try to force her to seek 'help', go to counseling, take drugs, admit her in-patient.
Cartoonish garbage compared to her earlier breakdowns. Only the last part (from Southend onwards) was any good.

Why is Stacey mad at Jean she is literally bringing Joy to the square I LOVED bouncy castles as a kid so this would of made Jean automatically my best friend. I know she's mentally ill with BuPolar but this was awesome.
Yeah, this was ‘awesome’ but what if the next day her bipolar has her being vile to the kids? You need to remember Stacey’s seen it all. Go back and watch young Stacey telling people about her mum, it was heartbreaking to hear all the stuff that Jean did when Stacey was young
