Lacey Turner & Gillian Wright are phenomenal actresses on their own, but when they’re together my god, it’s on another level, 2 of the best actresses EastEnders have ever had 👏🏻🙌🏻
I haven't watched Eastenders in YEARS but, because I know the history of Jean and Stacey ; I was getting emotional watching this scene! Poor Jean, I've always felt sorry for her and wanted her to get help! 😢
@@luwamalem9537 most of the time she just about has the help she needs. I think even in her more grittiest days she had a somewhat quirky baseline temperament (the fact that her illness went unmedicated for years off-and-on doesn’t help, either) so even when she is taking her medication and not acutely unwell she still comes across as a little mad. That doesn’t make her a perpetual pity case or someone who needs an enormous amount of sympathy all the time. To a greater or lesser degree that’s just Jean’s personality. When she’s not boarding up windows with cardboard, burning and smashing stuff in maniacal rage and trying to drown herself while believing she’s related to the Queen of Cleopatra, she’s kind of just the way she has been over the years and half of the time she’s quite happy being like that.
it was actually a really great touch how the sun was shining, nice blue sky, the sun on the water making it shine, we literally got to see what Jean was seeing, and then what it really looked like for Stacey, think EastEnders have done well with this storyline
High mood yes but the visual hallucinations is more suggestive of psychotic features. Stacey’s scenes from when she was first introduced were more manic exclusive (financial recklessness, promiscuity etc).
I know it’s only a soap but I love how when before Jean fell deeper underwater it was all sunny and when Stacey pulled her to the surface the weather was all horrible. Might’ve been unintentional but I loved it
It was to show Jean’s perception of what was happening, it was never sunny there it was cloudy and miserable but to her it was the best day of her life
Such an important story to tell about Bipolar and they've done it so well! Absolutely powerful acting from Gillian Wright and Lacey Turner as always 👏 great upload 👍
@@andrewcornish291 it’s the truth I don’t care it hurts your feelings Why are they showing this when it’s got nothing to do with us? I don’t need to learn it and neither do you because you’re never have bipolar in your life
This sort of reminds me of Ronnie and Roxy drowning in a way. Excellent episode which wraps up this storyline as Jean now establishes that she’s ill. Amazing acting from Gillian and Lacey👏
We don’t need reminding of that ! It was terrible I’m still mad they killed them off like that this was better as it was showcasing bipolar and Gillian & Lacey are amazing actors.
It was very well-acted but the most sublime performances Turner and Wright gave between them re. bipolar was during that week in December 2005 where Stacey went to their boarded-up old yard. Nothing Jean’s done since then has been as perfect or raw as her first episodes.
This was amazing acting it genuinely shook me to my core when I saw this for the first time and even now when I see it it sends chills down my spine amazing actors they deserve so much credit
Jean knew that if she walked into the water she would die and meet Daniel in heaven and the bipolar made her believe dying is a good thing but reality hit when she tripped over the rock and began to drown. A really fantastic and underrated moment, eastenders have brought so much more awareness towards the condition. Very very well done 👏
I love how it looks so sunny and everything and everyone is so happy in her mind then when she comes down from the episode she sees its actually cloudly. I don't think she is going to want harvey because she was sleeping with him due to her episode. Hopefully she comes clean that she actually stole the money and not tommy.
This amazing episode has had me in tears 😢, such powerful scenes ❤️ well done to both amazing actresses!! Whenever I watch these 2 together I genuinely forget their actors! Very true to life, well done Eastenders 👏 ps got to mention love the scenes with Jean and Kat, very real xx
Tonight has been such an incredible night, I got scared thinking about what's going to happen to Jean and how far she's going. Gillian Wright and Lacey Turner are both incredibly talented
God bless Jean! My heart goes out there to people who are suffering from a serious mental illness and who have lost a loved one and that they imagine that the person is still alive and waiting for them. Then they later realize that they are not there. This is not something people should be making fun about! It is real, it is serious, and people need to get their acts together because they may come across someone attempting suicide! Please, please do what you can, as a viewer of soaps, to try and gain an understanding of mental illness! A little bit of kindness by showing how much you care and how much you want to support someone suffering makes a big difference and can save their life!
This is similar to what happened to Ronnie and Roxy, they both wore their wedding dress in the swimming pool. Now it's Jean, but she's in the sea in her wedding dress
I literally have a mental illness called Borderline personality disorder I know it's not the same but episodes similar to this can happen at any time without warning. The way Jean saw everything peaceful without any sense of danger is actually VERY accurate to a real mental health attack. This scene is probably one of the most powerful I have seen in the show. I'm far from recovery but this is realistic.
There was a very disturbing scene in the early days (December 2005) where Jean stuffs her face with chips in an attempt to manipulate Stacey into saying (and again later in that episode where she conveniently-found her tablets in her cardi.-jacket) that was/were starkly-symbolic of the diathetic (if you know what I mean) linkage between borderline p.d. and certain forms of bipolar d., coincidentally. But Jean’s character in general was far-more-accurately-written back in the day so it’s no surprise so much elucidating psychological content can be milked from those first five episodes of hers alone. Now, not so much.
This was very sad. I wondered what she was trying to do though. I wondered why they couldn't give her a happy ending. I thought she was going to die when she fell.
Jean was ½ asleep in this scene... Was she so dreary, which caused her to just wade into the sea like that? Thank GOODNESS stacey got her just before she slipped over!!
Haunting scene and so sad shows mental health issues need to be taken really seriously as Jean tried to drown herself as the illness makes you think suicide and death is a good thing when it really isn’t it can literally leave lives of families in ruins professional help is key 😪😪💔
There are 2 forms of bipolar disorder so whichever form have this pair got? Go on experts who watch this explain and see how good you think you are. BUT REMEMBER an expert is:- x the sign of nothing and a spurt is just a drip out of control!!

Wow. I hope this story gets many awards. One of the best depictions of mania I have ever seen. Bravo!

This storyline has been so accurate on what a manic episode is like for the sufferer ,and their loved ones.
