Longer, I think, because global supply chains are expected to collapse. Products that are complicated to build may become hard to find or unavailable during 2024

@@JT-oc2dn I haven’t had any problems with overheating after about 4 months of use. I don’t shoot long format video though.

As someone who just switched from the A7 IV to the A6700, I recogize very much what you’re saying about not needing all of that stuff. I started with the a6300 then ”had to upgrade to fullframe” so got the A7 III, A7C and then A7 IV but realized that it doesn’t really matter to me who just want to take some pictures now and then and sometimes post on Instagram which a A6700 will do more than fine. Also, since I like to do some video, I like how the A6700 have a lot less rolling shutter issue than A7 IV. Anyway, great video!
Yes I feel the same way. It’s seems like cameras aren’t really that much different since the a7iii and the a6700 pretty much checks all the boxes.
Carl, you figured out what I just have! I had the A73, A73R, A7C, and A74 --- they all were fine, but I found that I didn't use everything they "had" in them, and were kind of expensive if this is a hobby, and it is not your professional work. I just retired at the end of January and as we are traveling more I have determined a lightweight (cheaper) setup would be better for this. Also, my wife is starting to show an interest. I can get two A6700 cameras and a nice set of APS-C lenses for the same price as all of my heavier, bigger, full frame gear!

The 6700 may be my last camera. I don't think I need anything more for either video or photography, unless global shutter becomes a thing in this price range :D
Then there are some analysts, saying global supply chains will collapse, and sophisticated products like cameras may become unaffordable.
We may want to buy a spare, instead of waiting for a later model.
Of course, this is just some people's analysis, like Zeihan and with any luck, they are wrong...
Excellent review dude. Ever thought about going with FF, but ended up getting a6700. This camera is perfect for beginners, casual shootes or people who want a second camera or compact setup.

It was in my hands literally days after release. Already I loved my a6600, the best little camera until the a6700 came out. It amazes me to this day. It is beyond perfect, it is incredible, it just blows my mind. Unless you need more megapixels, you will find this a better shooting camera than the A74. I bought its big brother, the A7CR and yet, I prefer using the a6700. This is a testament of how well designed this camera is.
I wanted the a7rv for a while with all the new features but after the a6700 came out and I saw it had a better grip than the a7c I was sold.
Great video man. I shot with full frame lenses (11mm, 50mm, 24x70 GMII, 70x200 GMII and 200x600) on an a6000 then upgraded to the a6700. The a6700 is a jack of all trades and master of none. It's the best all around every day camera for phtography and video for most people. I'll probably buy another one later to replace another a6000.
Thanks. It’s not as big of a change from full frame as I thought. Just did some astrophotography with it with some pretty decent results.
@@Davidmccombs I shoot the moon a lot. Stars on those rare days when the sky/air is clean. But for everything else, it is not only the jack of all trades, but it is the master of most trades. Just like any camera, there are things we would like but are more than satisfied with what we got. This little camera is amazing and I'm coming from the days of shooting with a Nikon F2 and FE2. It's amazing. Anyone complaining today about this camera, go shoot with a Pentax Spotmatic F like I did and tell me just how bad the a6700 is.
The a6700 will be my next purchase, arriving there from the a100, a300, a330, a77, a5100, a6000, a6500 and currently the a660.
I have one apsc lens which is the Tamron 17-70 f/2.8, the rest are full frame lenses, ready for when making the jump to FF but to be honest, the urge has never arrived.
The bump in MP isn't here nor there for me though the new articulating screen is welcomed and i'm with you on the card front. Never used any of my cameras for video, guess it maybe time to give it a go.

Well that’s kind of you to say. I think I’m coming from the opposite direction. I spent years with Nikon and then made the switch to Sony full frame. Coming back to apsc is a nice switch and don’t think I’ll be switching cameras for a while. That’s interesting that you’re shooting mostly full frame glass on Apsc. I’m still going to shop around for some apsc lenses. I’ll have to Check out your Tamron some time. Thanks again.
I've been using the A6700 for 5months now. Never regretted my choice!
Does yours overheat?
Yeah the only way I’d upgrade is if they improved the EVF and added a joystick. I’m loving the smaller lenses just need to get a couple more.

Normally it's not an issue, but when it is an issue I use the Ulanzi fan and it seems to go on forever.

I've been shooting APSC for 8 years now. I am between a7CR , a7R5 , GFX100ii.. I want great image quality .. been looking into the a6700 and .. the 26mp censor seems to do a good job. Paired with a high end lens, I'm thinking about it 😊 APSC as something special I always loved

That’s an interesting idea. I use it for almost everything except for my home TH-cam setup (zve1)
Nice review, as someone who just downsized cameras, I see the logic. Features are mostly missed in the imagination and in practice, the smaller size makes more sense.

I didnt think i wanted this camera but I'm looking for the perfect travel camera. I love my XS20. The images are crazy good, but i really do need something with weather sealing. I also have a few Sony APS-C lenses that I have not sold off from when I sold my a6600.

I use my pop up flash all the time on my A6000. Why don't they bring that back? It seems handicapped to me.
If you were disappointed in the E1 for Astro, may I ask what have you used that you were pleased with? Sensor is more than capable for amazing results. It would be more the lens or user to get improved results.
I was using the Sony 20mm 1.8. I was disappointed because the dynamic range wasn’t much better than my Sony ac7 or a7iv.

Thank you! I’m not sure. I don’t really do anything more than 45 min. It probably depends on the temperature. I’ve heard it doesn’t overheat but it really depends on the temperature
I recommend you buy the SmallRig base plate for the a6700; the grip becomes even more solid! My lenses for the a6700 are Sigma 16 mm 1.4, Sigma 24 mm 1.4 art (the new one) and the Tamron 28-75 2.8 G2.

I have used an A7RIII and A7III as a full time professional for years. "Downgraded" my A7III recently for an a6700. I never used my A7III except for the rare occasion I needed two cameras at the same time, it doesn't have much to offer over the A7RIII, so I usually just use that. But i've found that the a6700 has some huge advantages, even over my A7RIII. The new generation of autofocus tech in this camera is a huge upgrade. I feel like I get a lot more utility out of my prime lenses, especially my Sony 24mm 1.4 and 90mm macro. Only complaint is one card slot.
Hey dude, the Product Showcase on ZV cameras just toggles the Eye/Face autofocus on and off. That's all it does, there's no AI behind this feature. When Eye/Face AF is off, then the camera focuses on the closest subject.
Unfortunately unlike ZV the other Sony cameras can't do a one-click toggle button, but just put Eye/Face AF to your Fn menu and it will take 3 clicks and you have the same feature.
Oh that makes sense. I guess it’s a bit of a gimmick. I thought it was using ai to track the object. That’s for the info!
My random youtube videos to watch has lead me here and overall its an amazing video. I do believe that the a6700 has its strike to be one of if not the best camera for the up coming 2-4 Years unless some small company or a large company like Hasselblad releases something that is consumer and Bank friendly. With the price being about £1,400-£1,900 it is a very suitable price for the camera but is far from in my budget yet i have used it a few times and agree with most things said in this video if not all.

I love the a6xxx series. I've owned a few of them. Put a 24mm G lens or 50mm G lens on it and you've got a great all day walk around kit. I also own 2 full size Sony cameras and GM lenses, as well as, an A7CII and A7CR. Why put such a small grip on the A7C series? If Sony can put a larger grip on a smaller body, why not on the A7C cameras?
I know. The newer a7cii makes no sense. They should’ve went with a larger grip.
hello! between the a7iii and the a6700 which one is better for general use?
I'm leaning toward the a6700 since it's pretty much better in most aspect but what's your opinion?
For just photography and low light go for the a7iii. For video and everything else get the a6700.
would love to here more about sony aps-c lenses, anything small compact sharp... from my view point they look a little disappointing compared to fuji line up... then it feels to just go sony full frame if using full frame glass.
They come a long way and there are a lot of great recent releases Sony and also Viltrox. They also have less focus breathing which is nice but the look and feel of Fuji is better. And Fuji has a larger list of lenses with better glass.
Loving my A6700. Seems that the A7CR could be a good upgrade path, since you can buy just the body and no FE glass, and use the APSC glass in crop mode. Your still getting 26MP in crop mode, and you can slowly get your FE glass. It also seems like good small form FE glass is hitting the sony ecosystem. The Tamron 28-200 is not much bigger than my 17-70 F2.8 and seems to cover a lot of people's needs really well!
BTW, have you used the 18-105 on the A6700? Seems like a very versatile lens for travel and im finding them for $350 used. Seems like a steal! Was considering getting the 24-105 but its 2-3x the price and 200G heavier.
Totally agree. There’s a lot of light weight lenses that match well for full frame and apsc
@@gibbage1The 18-105 is a great lens. Have used it for years. It’s a good size, but not massive and is well made. I find the image quality to be excellent and the Power Zoom is a great tool for video. Lastly - its image stabilized.
@@mariopassalacqua6674 I have the 18-105, and have used it for several years on my a6000, and now for a couple of days on my a6700, which I am deliberating on exchanging for an a7cii. It's a very versatile lens, yes, and great for video, but not the sharpest for photos. Not terrible, but, not the sharpest.
I think i missed it in the video but how was the overheating im looking to get this camera just super scared of overheating issues as thats the only main con i hear about it
Mine overheats fast even when at 24fps.
Haven’t had any issues but I don’t record for more than 30 min usually.
I got the A6700 with the 11mm lens and the Viltrox 23mm, 17mm / 35mm equivalent
I switched from the A7C, because the body is not great and your still stuck with giant, heavy and expenses lenses. *What other lens would you get next* ?

Sir , wanna buy a6700 but afraid of overheating as I reside in India ; so decided go with full frame hybrid camera. Can u recommend any Sony full frame hybrid camera with 4k 60fps no crop ; and 4k 120 fps with crop and I want camera for wildlife photography and videography and astrophotography. Especially low light performance.
They’re all most likely going to have a crop with 4k 60 fps. Check the a7cr. I believe it only has a slight 1.2x crop.

I live in Thailand and our countries are similar when it comes to climates. A6700 never overheats on me for normal use case of b-roll 24/60/120 fps.
Honestly I think the a6700 even has good low light performance for being APS-C. I’ve shot pictures at 4000 ISO and they still are tack sharp

You could go for the A7CR and have the best of both worlds. A7CR with apsc glass still gives you 26mg. No need for ZVE1 then either.

@@DavidmccombsThe grip on A7C2/A7CR is upgraded from A7C - actually, it is exactly the same as A6700 grip.
The lens doesn’t fit the body perfectly. What are you talking about?
It’s full frame but it feels good in the hands.
Just get the viltrox 27mm f1.2 and the viltrox 75mm f1.2 and you will have the full frame quality! (As well in low light)

I'm really divided. I love the pride and quality of a6700 but afraid of the overheating. I also wish the megapixels were more, on the other hand there's a7cii that has more. Mega pixels but I can't tell if it has good video because nobody uses it for short films (I wanna use it for video and photos). A7cii also doesn't overheat
On the third hand (I'm an alien) Sony a7iv seems like a beast but has a slow sensor, good megapixels but the slow sensor makes things blurry. It's also expensive, what would be good for me then?
I had the a7iv. It was amazing for photos and videos and doesn’t over heat. The same sensor is in the a7cii. I would think either of those would be a good fit.
Maybe look into an a7Riv. High megapixels and decent enough video capabilities. I do wish my a6700 would be around 33MP, but I honestly can’t complain with the quality at 26MP.
