For all those undecided - the a6700 is a beast. Sony took the best of the fx30 and a7IV, then added new firmware and a new AI processor with features from cinema line cameras. It's unbelievable what they did for this price. I mainly use it to shoot video, the quality of the recordings exceeded my wildest expectations for an APSC sensor. A6700 - Tamron 17-70 - Sigma Trio - Sirui Anamorphic - Weebil 3S - Rode VideoMic is everything you need for semi-professional work.
I still undecided because zoom lens weight on a7C2+24-70 or a6700+16-55😢 is huge difference . I am a retired, and picking up the hobby again, I am not new to photography as when young I shoot on film camera. Don’t like to change lenses on tour😅.
Hey, thanks for this comment. I am debating whether or not i should get a6700. How bad do you personally think the overheting issues is shooting videos?
@@lonewolf8275 I made the decision after watch this video and bought the a6700 with 1655 zoom. So far 3 week into shooting, the more play with it the more I love it. Photo I shoot on FL setting, video I shoot PP 11, just export and edit on CapCut or DR on iPad. Even for photos I decided not to save on Raw, just jpeg, because I lazy to spend time on color grading as not much different for untrained eyes. lol
As an APSC Shooter This video sold me on the a6700. As much as I think the full frame setup is great I just don't think its needed for most common small youtubers on a budget. Thanks for this comparison video! Very well done!
1) Overheating is a non-issue, if you buy one of those magnetic i-phone coolers (or the Tilta cage with fan. 2) chosing the right lens negates the slo-mo crop, like the Sony 11mm f1.8. This lens also works on full frame cameras, if you activate the lowest stabilization setting. I had 3 full frame cameras and eventually decided full frame isn't worth carrying a much bigger, heavier bag.
@@engineer4862 Nonsense! My 6700 has never overheated without the fan - in the hot climates of the Philippines and the Desert of Nevada without any fan. I have A6700 and this is fantastic crop sensor camera! Great balance between take photo and videos. And I really love your review! Your color still so beautiful
I usually use my camera for filming tech gadgets. The shallow depth of field of a full frame can sometimes be a con when I want to shoot the whole product in focus. Yes, I can just crank up the f stop value, but then I would need more light to remain at the same ISO. For a crop sensor, I can keep more layers in focus at lower f stops, allowing me to have more room to adjust my ISO. I know it's a niche situation, but I'm perfectly happy with my A6700 Oh, and it's hard to mount a full frame camera + bright zoom lense on a consumer level gimbal too

After using the zv e10 for around 2 years I can say, for the most people APSC is more than enough. Would I like to have a FF instead? Sure. But it is so much more expensive and nowadays with Software you can achieve the same look.
Thank you. I own both right now but with videos like yours I’m trying to decide which one to keep. Got the A7CII as an open box with a $200 discount and probably go that path because I have other full size full frame Sony bodies I shoot with and I’m really more of a stills shooter and I do very little video. Your video is VERY good and recommend it to anyone looking at these cameras. One hug plus for the A6700 is the reduced cost of lenses and their nice small size. A greatly reduced burden for new users. Take care.
For photo-only use, I did a detailed comparison to determine which to get. Ultimately, it boiled down to compactness and weight of camera and comparable lens.
Just got my a6700 a few days ago. The crop factor and the 120fps were what won me over. No-brainer for me. I'll get a full-frame if sony comes up with an a7siv or zv-e1 mk2 🎉 thanks for the comparison!

Great content Sean!! I recently got the a6700 and really loving the camera. I was a little worried about the overheating, but got the Ulanzi cooling fan which just clicks in the back, and all has been fine so far! The biggest thing I haven't had much luck with is using SLOG3 indoors, in terms of nailing the exposure and not having quite a lot of noise (at ISO 800).
Sean! Lovely videos. I’m playing this on a giant projector. The a7cII has green cast in skin and a6700 looks more pink. I prefer the pink look and reminds me more of canon.
Thanks, Jay - that could be more of a white balance thing but I can see your point. I have noticed that the a6700 is a bit warmer but both look excellent regarding color science in my opinion.

The 6700 is a great entry to the Sony eco-system and would make a nice camera instead of the A7Cii with less expensive lenses and even more compact combo. I'm standardized on FF; so the A7Cii was a no question. Lastly, I really like the aesthetics of the silver version!
It's a simple decision, if you have the budget for full frame camera and full frame lenses, get A7c2, if you have tigher budget you can get A6700 with lenses for the price of A7C2, you can actually get a used sigma trio and a6700 for the price of A7C2
It's not simple if you want 4K 120fps and also a full frame camera. I don't want the A7SIII because it doesn't have AI autofocus or a feature where you can upload LUTs to the camera. So basically you have to compromise at the moment.

Great comparison video! If you could get the a7cii or fx30 for the same price, which would you choose for a 3-camera video podcast? I like the idea of having a camera for high quality photos sometimes, but I also like the idea of 2 card slots and internal fan. Although I haven't seen any complaints of the a7cii overheating, like you mentioned. Thoughts on a7cii vs fx30 for video?
Did you do the live streaming via USB on the cameras? I stream with my a6700 through HDMI at 24fps with a dummy battery and it has never overheated on me and I stream for hours. Actually, I have accidentally left the camera on all day sending the signal through HDMI and it has never overheated. I have had issues with it overheating using the USB streaming feature or trying to use USB as the power source.
Good info here. I kept it to the USB-C as in think that is the most practical for most people but I hope that what you wrote helps some people. Great feedback here, thanks again
very good video!! I'm between these 2 cameras! but I've been looking at the Canon R8, it would be great if you could add the R8 to an upcoming video. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I have a6700 and a7iv. The a7iv has very good AF, realtime tracking is great, butthe little a6700's AF is just perfect. Also image quality together with the GM lenses is remarkable.
The big advantage of A7C2 in video is the possibility to use APS-C lenses with wider field of view. Sigma 16 mm + Active stab + 1.15 Cleaimagezoom make a kind of 20 mm F1.4 lens.
Am I not correct in saying if I do a 50% crop on an image from the a6700 and take the same shot on the a7C II with the same lens and blow it up to the same subject size as the one from the a6700 (the two images look exactly the same), the a6700 will be sharper (more pixels) than the a7C II. Looking at this from a wildlife perspective where cropping is common place. The a6700 3:2 Raw mode is 26 MP (6192 x 4128) and the a7C II is 33 MP (7008 x 4672) . The effective focal length for the a6700 is 1.5 times which would reduce the pixels for the a7C II by 1.5 times to produce the same size image (4672 x 3115) and then half that for the crop, the final resolution for the a7C II for the 50% cropped image would be 2336 x 1557 vs 3096 x 2064 for the a6700. Pricing update as of Jun 8, $1398 USD for a6700 and $2198 USD or $800 difference.

Although I haven't really seen any complaints of the a7cii overheating like you mentioned. Personally I prefer FF, but wanted your thoughts on the fx30 vs a7cii for video!
I have an a7iv and I need a smaller cheaper camera for vacation…knowing the quality of the A7iv should I just splurge for the a7cii? Or just get the 6700? Really just want something small that will fit my small lens I’m not taking my A7iv with me most of the time due to size…
I really regret choosing the a7cii over a6700... my own fault but I didn't realise there just isn't any good versatile zoom that offers very wide to a zoom like the 16-50mm for Sony apsc cameras, nothing exists for it, and that's what I want, I don't want and can't afford two lenses.... I messed up 😩
22:40 I'm not sure it's fair to say that for live streaming "your not going to be able to go with the a6700". Most people don't need to be streaming in 4k. Aside from us pixel peeping perfectionists, the average person is watching our content on a smartphone. At best they're watching on a laptop or desktop, and they don't even seem to be aware that they can go full screen (I do a fair bit if user testing). If they could, they wouldn't know whether they were watching 720 or 8k. Heck, most iPhone users can't be bothered to rotate their phone to landscape and give a video the respect it deserves. All sad but true. The a6700 is beautifully positioned to stream razor sharp 1080p all day long. I love your content, Brother. Keep it up!
This is my biggest concern. I want a greater hybrid camera. I need a camera for product photography for work. However, I want to do product reviews and videos. I really think the fuji x100vi would fit me perfectly, but it's backordered for years now. So I've been looking at the a6700 and a7cii.
Hi,photography wise,if someone likes the characteristics of a full frame sensor, the Sony A7C2 is a clearly better camera. Why: -It has 33 Mp,while the Sony A6700 has 26 Mp. - It has better low light performance. - It has better dynamic range. - It has better colour depth. - It has better Ibis. According to Photonstophotos, the A6600 has better results than the Sony A6700,idespite the latter has a new BSI sensor. The fact that the Sony A6700 is a videocentric camera affects and has AI technology affects its phoptographic performance. I have a Sony A5100,a camera lainched in 2014,and the image quality of the Sony A6700 is only marginally better.
Sorry, Sony has good colors? The worst color from all brands. Can you do a Fujifilm xt5 and Sony a7cii. Love to see that comparison on photograph. I do zero videos. Trying to upgrade my system. Leaning towards heavy on the XT5
I don't know why people are still debating color these days when obviously different people are gonna like different skin tones anyway. I personally like Fuji skin tone the most but I never really use picture straight out camera anyway and I shoot raw 99.99% of the time....moreover, there are so many great post processing apps these days that it does not really matter already with a few click / touch to apply preset which only takes a few seconds.
a6700 is such a great camera. Unfortunately it has the cronic problem of overheating, which is something i personally can't afford having on my shootings. Based on cost and benefit i chose to go with A7C mark II, also I strongly believe that filmmakers need to let go of the mediocrity that Sony pretends to offer in the crop sensor format. The a6700 definitely disappoints when it comes to low light.
I am sorry....but you are telling me APSC lenses are of the same size and weight vs FF lenses? ... and perhaps cost? For example, can I get a FF lens of F1.2 at 35 or 50 MM at the same price/weight as the Viltrox 27mm F1.2 on APSC which let in basically the same amount of light on the sensor?
@@seandewispelaere No, my house cost me $3,000 per month, so a lens at $1,000 once at time of purchase isn't something I find expensive. I think the only people who find cameras expensive are those that live with their parents or never compare how they spend money.
@Michael-fw5ef or people that they work very hard to save a thousand pound and don't feel to invest 3-6 k on camera and lenses as they need, for instance, to pay morgatge/rent and car mantainance and/or any other hobby and holidays. Said so, the use of a aps-c it's not only about money but also weight.

i..e i wouldn't count it as a disadvantage. More like the 4k 30 of the FF sensor is a big advantage
The insane crop for 4k 120 is quite bad. but you only use that when you need it
Incredible video my friend! Been looking for a b-cam for vids and I think I’ll be going with the 6700 bc of this video!
Appreciate the effort invested to provide us with such helpful and enjoyable content!
That’s awesome, David, enjoy it. Glad you liked the video 💯
@@seandewispelaereI did forget to note that you will need a capture card also.
Thank you so much😊❤❤ & respect from Hini Shinaki Gilgit-Baltistan
Glad you liked it and thank you for the note
You are very well informed on cameras! I learned a great deal from your a6700 tutorials. I am quite happy with my purchase.
The only problem is that where I live a6700 costs 1729€ and the a7c mkii costs 2399€ This price point makes the a6700 so expensive crop camera
Yea that’s really unfortunate and I see your point
@@seandewispelaere That is the main reason why I keep saving for A7C mkII 😅
Switching from FF Canon… I'm hyped to be honest 🥹
In the US, I was able to get the a6700 brand new for ~1200€ so the a6700 was a no brainer :D
very good video!! I'm between these 2 cameras! but I've been looking at the Canon R8, it would be great if you could add the R8 to an upcoming video. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Hi, would you prefer this camera to the Sony ZV E1 in terms of photo and video quality?
Great question!
I got both Ac7II and the A6700. Ac7II is inside a box, I’m going to unbox it and decide which one to keep and which one to sell thank you.
Which one you kept?
Which one? Answers!
@@wouldoox8024 I’ve actually been busy so still haven’t unboxed the AC7 II yet, I will try and do it this weekend.
@@VictorMartinez-cx7iy I’ve actually been busy so still haven’t unboxed the AC7 II, I will try and do it this weekend. I will get back to you
@@luenicluke thx :D
Please, discribe about budget lens for a6700.
I have a6700 and a7iv. The a7iv has very good AF, realtime tracking is great, butthe little a6700's AF is just perfect. Also image quality together with the GM lenses is remarkable.
What about the rolling shutter effect?
6700 has way less rolling shutter
The big advantage of A7C2 in video is the possibility to use APS-C lenses with wider field of view. Sigma 16 mm + Active stab + 1.15 Cleaimagezoom make a kind of 20 mm F1.4 lens.
Excellent review! Thank you.
Hey Sean can you check if overheating is still an issue with A6700 if it's used with Elgato camlink 4k via HDMI

I have an a7iv and I need a smaller cheaper camera for vacation…knowing the quality of the A7iv should I just splurge for the a7cii? Or just get the 6700? Really just want something small that will fit my small lens I’m not taking my A7iv with me most of the time due to size…
Did you have any overheating for live streaming when using the micro hdmi to a capture card w/ a dummy battery? edit: for a6700
Very informative! Thank you.
You did very great with this video! I loved every second of it!!!!
Thanks so much, that means a lot 🤙
I’m selling my Sony a6400 to get one of these cameras. I’m not sure what to get?
Same. I'm stuck between these 2.
Pls review the upcoming zve10 mark 2 vs 6700 as well. I’m getting either of them this summer.
great review algo comment
Great vid thanks! Subbed.
Thank you Sean for the helpful and informative video comparing Sony A6700 and A7C II, useful! God bless and good luck!
12:34 its brilliant
This is technically a comparison between the FX30 and the A7IV 🤔
I mean am I the only one that sees the stabilization glitching for the a7c ii? The 6700 does move a bit but the a7c ii snaps. no?
Awesome video! One small thing: the a7cii retails for $2,199, not $2,100.
Love my a7siii but that a7cii would be awesome to upgrade my a7c….i don’t really need it but man it’s 🔥….great video!
Was waiting for the Jaw shot 😫😫😫
12:30 I didn’t see that coming😹😹
Why is high iso range important comparison honestly
One of the best overviews I’ve seen on these two cameras…but seriously, your jaw is AI, right? Right?! 🤔🤨
Great comparation of beast sony camera
I cant find the 60fps in my A6700, only 24,30,50,100,120 fps
someone help me
Change from PAL to NTSC
I got 6700 crop censor is no meaning to me. Just step back and shot hahaha.
ZVE1 is much better than both if want to do video at faster frame rates.
Excellent Jaw
I really regret choosing the a7cii over a6700... my own fault but I didn't realise there just isn't any good versatile zoom that offers very wide to a zoom like the 16-50mm for Sony apsc cameras, nothing exists for it, and that's what I want, I don't want and can't afford two lenses.... I messed up 😩
a 16-50 aps-c is a 24-75 for full frame, there are even some options that exist or did I miss your point?
They are nice features full cameras but be careful BODYS ARE SMALL especially when big lens attached like your review
A6700 my way to go
Showing breathing compensation without zooming is a "creative" idea.
Keep it up!
BIG difference between the two for photos is that the a7cii does not have a fully mechanical shutter.
This is my biggest concern. I want a greater hybrid camera. I need a camera for product photography for work. However, I want to do product reviews and videos. I really think the fuji x100vi would fit me perfectly, but it's backordered for years now. So I've been looking at the a6700 and a7cii.
@@goawaybaizuowhich do you get finally brother
Hi,photography wise,if someone likes the characteristics of a full frame sensor, the Sony A7C2 is a clearly better camera.
Why:
-It has 33 Mp,while the Sony A6700 has 26 Mp.
Iso test in studio is not the same as in Low light in real situations. Low light performance on a6700 seems to be pretty bad tbh.
esto es cierto. la a 6700 a poca luz es una completa basura.
a6700 has 26mpix not 24mpix
9:51 im sorry what were you are talking about? 🗿
The full frame is overrated. I work in the film business on big productions as an iatse member. 80% of everything you watch is super 35 aka apsc.

How we percieve colors is subjective. I do not like the skin color from Fuji. Looks magenta to me, but I always liked Sony colors.
typical fuji-boi……. ignorant!
a6700 is such a great camera.
I couldn’t choose so I bought both 😂
A6700 has 26 mega pixels not 24 man
I sold sony for Lumix, now Im happier
Talk a bit faster man, i be listening to you at 1.25x speed and it sounds normal😂
Get the s5ii
The lenses are the same size and weight, so there is no advantage to an APSC camera from that brand.
Do you see the cost as an advantage for APS-C?
I am sorry....but you are telling me APSC lenses are of the same size and weight vs FF lenses? ... and perhaps cost? For example, can I get a FF lens of F1.2 at 35 or 50 MM at the same price/weight as the Viltrox 27mm F1.2 on APSC which let in basically the same amount of light on the sensor?
@@seandewispelaere No, my house cost me $3,000 per month, so a lens at $1,000 once at time of purchase isn't something I find expensive. I think the only people who find cameras expensive are those that live with their parents or never compare how they spend money.
@Michael-fw5ef or people that they work very hard to save a thousand pound and don't feel to invest 3-6 k on camera and lenses
as they need, for instance, to pay morgatge/rent and car mantainance and/or any other hobby and holidays. Said so, the use of a aps-c it's not only about money but also weight.
My man here can suck peanut butter through a straw
Giggity! 😂
Sean The Gigachad, thank you for mentioning the jab
What small rig cage is that on the a6700?
Great video on both cameras. As you may recall, I currently own the a6700, and I absolutely love it. If I get that wild hair up my ass and decide to go full-frame, then the a7CII is who I’m rolling with.
Again, great video, and even better “Double Jaw” shot, my man.
