That felt like a believable PVP between magic users/casters. Not spamming min-max high tier spells but there were quick-witted reactions, attack and defense, dodging, assessment of the situation and unorthodox tactics involved. Whoever directed this sequence knows how to entertain the viewer.
As a mage main for the most MMO(RPG) games, I can relate. Unless it's a farming party or raid, high-tier magic is useless in PVP or even war. Cast time more than 5 seconds? It's a death sentence!
I play 3 roles fighter archer and mage. I like the mage role because of how high the damage output is and they also can be tanky and the game I play is that the ultimate skill of the mage is not a single target but an AOE and I will only use those for surprise attack when we planning on flanking our opponent and that AOE skill can kill more than 5 players if you equip a weapon element that counter their gear (top armor) element and it is satifying at the same when you manage to kill someone with just 1 AOE ultimate skill
Best Assasin: Has a clear shot from the crowd, yet calmy walks up to the target with his weapon plain in sight and the most suspicious clothes he could find, jsut to wait long enough to be stabed in the back. °clap clap clap°
Well he was a mind controlled villager, hence the shaking, though I forget if he was a set up to get an assassin into their favor or not, but it is a useful weapon of terror to let the assassination attempt be public all the same, and doubly so if the public see the face of one of their own on the freshly slain assassin. Also these people don't know what guns are, so it'd be like someone pointing a hammer at you, at least until it belched forth fire and thunder.

I think the comment he makes is that his bullet wouldn't reach her in time if he shoots where she is, if he shoots where she is going to be, the bullet will probably hit her, but she will be close enough to hurt her anyways. Trying to hit her where his head is going to be is the best option, but also very easy to miss. The magicians got to hit her because they were on the back of the assassin, not to the side like Itami, and their spells could curve and follow her, unlike a bullet.

She's augmented her tactics to incorporate elements of how JSDF elements fight in addition to her normal mage abilities plus she has gained serious combat experience.
She learned physics from our world and used it to enhance her magic, ie those flying wand its from her learning aerodynamic and that bombs literally hydrogen bomb extracted from water magic.
iirc, the field of study she picked was combustion magic. (fireballs, explosions, etc) which had been considered a dead end area of magic. since their understanding of fire and combustion was basically stuck in the phlogiston level of understanding. since you have to visualize what your magic is doing, that model of combustion doesn't allow for much. once she learned atomic theory and how chemical processes worked, she could get much more powerful results (since she understood stuff like "rapid oxidation", exothermic reactions, fuel air ratios, etc.) which frankly if the Imperial mages learned that stuff, they might be able to inflict some damage back to the JSDF (or possibly, find ways to reduce the blast effect of things like artillery shells.) case in point, at one point she uses magic and some handy nearby metal to create a *shaped charge armor piercing warhead spell*. which given the effect on the target, would likely have done a number on a JSDF tank.
I really feel for the warrior bunnies. Rather than a glorious last stand they surrendered and were murdered and brutalized anyway. The warrior bunny queen surrendered in hopes they would be spared but the prince SUCKS.
Queenie should've been less of a total asshat and seen the JSDF as a place to possibly defect to once everything was blown over, yet she preferred to stay glued to the prince's ass and treated all possible connections to Japan like utter garbage instead of just sticking to her original plan of corroding the Empire internally.

Actually there are JSDF in there, a small security team but they are wearing that official uniform which Itami wears when he visited the Emperor. In the manga 1 of them wanted to rush out and help but was stopped by the others.

It would be easy to get a shot or two on her, she’ll be landing literally in front of her, from +15 fleet, that’s easy skeet shooting.
