Thank you, Mary Jo. I really appreciate your courage in dealing with TM. You are the first person that I am aware of who has had TM for 40 years. I was diagnosed with idiopathic transverse myelitis in Aug. 2020, at the age of 70. My journey has been much easier than yours. My paralysis was at C5,6,7 and I was unable to use my arms and hands for about 4 months. I had a great neurology team here in Kansas City, MO, as well as wonderful in-patient and out-patient therapists for about 6 months. I can feed myself, do laundry, perform my ADLs and even drive now. Congratulations on the birth of your daughter and working to help others as an occupational therapist. May your journey get easier in the days and years ahead.
Hi Linda, Thank you for taking the time to watch my video. I’m not sure anyone has any easy journey with TM. It certainly helps to have a great team behind you, and I can tell you worked hard to regain the use of your upper body - Congratulations! Here’s to journeying onward with courage and gratitude, no matter our age.
Thank you Mary Jo for sharing your story. I understand your struggle and I am inspired by your attitude of positive thinking and having gratitude. This has always been the way I have approached life and it has helped me to overcome the odds of walking again and having as full a life as I can handle. I can only hope that the strength that you have expressed helps one more person get out of their chair and walk again. Thank you, Jeff Berger
Thanks Jeff! I hope you are well. I watched your video and agree that it is challenging when living with an "invisible" disability. I think it makes me less judgmental of others because you never know what they might be going through. You too are an inspiration (:
Your story made me cry. I’m so happy you overcame being completely paralyzed. You’re an inspiration to me. Thank you for sharing your beautiful but tragic story. You’re a miracle and a blessing to so many. Thank you.
Hi Deeann, Thank you for your kind words. You have inspired me to keep writing my book. I think we all have a story to tell and there is a profound power in sharing them.
