Air in oil line before filter has to be pushed through the filter. Dry media of the filter is invisible for air. When you have oil over filtering media - you create extra resistance. It can rip a hole in your filter.

If i remember correctly from the previous video the car was originally a 300D model and immediately came up with an idea that I would really like to see on the channel - building an OM606 engine :) Lots of people here in Europe like this engine and tune it(If I am not wrong, I think the OM606 is the 300 Turbo Diesel from a W210). Legends say on stock internals engine can easily take 500 HP.. So, knowing you perfect work from each and every video, I think you will be able to create one of the best cars with an OM606 :)

E34/E39 BMW 5 series and W/S/C 124 Mercedes are some of the best cars ever made. The LS really fits with the solid engineering of the W124... The W124 diesels were EXTREMELY solid cars, but not fast. They could be made fast though, the straight six 3 liter turbodiesel OM606 engines take 700 hp without being opened. Pretty much the diesel version of a 2JZ.
Very nice car with an LS!

Had a E39 528i manual, that was a great car and great to drift as it had the same rear axle as the m3, little low on power perhaps with just 198hp but a Turbo will fix that as they take low boost just fine.
I would get another 528i just for a daily driver but they are not common anymore, most were sold with the horrible automatic transmission, and most is scrapped.

  • @glassvial

That car certainly buffed out and cleaned up nicely. I also can't believe they didn't think to swap the throttle body around and instead put a nipple on the hood. I think you got a fairly easy one here, minor mechanical work that needed done, hardly any parts, I think you'll do well selling it or trading it up.

  • @GlassWolfLH
    @GlassWolfLH ปีที่แล้ว +5

Two things of note: Don't use primer alone to protect from rust. Primer attracts moisture and will actually promote rust. Shoot something else over the top of that primer on the battery tray. POR15, or just an actual black paint. Two: Before you ceramic coat your glass, hit the glass with your buffer, and your cutting compound. It'll remove any microdebris from the surface, won't harm the glass, and will make it crystal clear, like it was brand new glass. THEN coat it.

30:20 the thing about oil based clear coats is that buffing heats the oil reactivating it into a uniform finish. need to clean surface with cold water on a cold day to prevent dirt from becoming imbedded into the clear coat, tho buffing down to the paint and re-clearing is an easy process.

Pre-filling a filter is an issue if you getting oil from a bulk tank without filtration on the pump. You could be introducing debris or contamination from the bulk tank. In the gas compression industry it is recommended to install filter dry and run your prelude/hot start system to cycle the oil before starting.

What do I think the car is worth? I figure it's worth installing a turbo (prior to flipping it for another engine swapped Merc (I think next car should be a Merc with a non-stock motor).

We once owned a 1993 300E 2.8 in blue-black metallic with the same gray lower trim & a gray interior. Fantastic color combo and it always received praise when it was clean and shiny. It saved our daughter's life once when she was hit from the rear on an I'state when she was stopped in traffic and a car hit her doing approx 50mph. She was uninjured and the car was repaired and looked great. Took about a week on a rig to stretch it back out.
You should get no more than $15k for it. It's tough to market such a car as very few people would ever want it. Stick it on the site you've used before and had the C63 giveaway.

12:21 cornwell tools had a socket shaped like a bell that’s used to replace it without having to remove anything. 2 he job turned 10m with the socket. The tool truck guy who comes to our shop designed it and sold it to snap on and cornwell works great in the trucks with very limited space.

This car is awesome! All the joy of a 500E or Hammer, but you're not afraid to drive it! I'd never thought about an LS-swapped Mercedes, but now I kind of want one, and a 124 I would take no matter what.

I always make sure the filter is wet. Full is great but wet is important. Especially is you are cheap because the vacuum of the engine can break the inside of a dry filter. LSC has it right!

Kansas and Missouri mainly use gravel for snow and when ice is going to hit they put down the liquid icemelt stuff before (that might be salt based). I have not ever seen any rock salt tossed onto the roads. I live and have family in Kansas & Missouri.

I am like you on the oil filter. If the angle will not cause the oil to run out I prefll but if the oil is going to run out during install I don't. I also disconnect the ignition and build oil pressure before I start following a change.

I thought my oil pressure switch was bad on my 2016 Chevy SS but found out the oil pump was replaced at 27k and they used a lot of silicone seal the pan. So of course some of it went through the engine and grenaded it! Thank God I bought a warranty and was replaced with a new LS3. Bone stock and I LOVE THIS CAR!!!!

I live in Missouri and in our city they use Beet Juice Salt. It requires less application so it saves the city money but more importantly is that it actually reduces corrosion over normal ice melt salt that other cities use.

Regarding the oil filter, if possible, i prefill but as you say, some angles dont allow for this. There is volume there and some companys will list how much oil you need whether you fill an oil filter or not.

Well, here you go! I have to eat my words about what I said of the swap of the two cars. Altho! You have spent a good amount to get the swap, to paint the hood (real nice job),various spray cans ,"of pretty in a can". And a new battery.
It shows that you simply have too much integrity and are not lazy enough. To make a go of the challenge to trade up, a paperclip to a house, and it's a credit to your character Alex.
The next step must prove very profitable!
