We used this type of van in Atlanta GA when we would pick up students and take them to their hotel after classes and to lunch and it STRUGGLED just getting up a small hill every single time. I have shared this video with old coworkers that drove this along with me and we would have LOVED this setup on our old van! Paint chips and all!!!! Same color. Just grinning ear to ear with each of these videos.

This is ABSOLUTELY my work van. Just hit 245000 miles and pulled a 14’ enclosed trailer for more than half of those miles. The engine just developed a noise last month and we are hoping it’s just a broken flex plate. I would freaking love to make 550 whp with it! I love your videos so much, please keep up all the awesome work! We watch them all as a family and I live vicariously through you. You have done every single one of my dream cars so far.
Update: Apparently the front cam bearing walked out about 1/2”. It’s a 6.0 as well, anyone else heard of this?
This was an awesome turnout. I salute everyone involved. Good friend of mine who passed in a motorcycle accident had one of those vans that he used for work, transport, and had a SPL build in it. Versatile vans they are!

I'm entertained by all LSC videos over the past 6 years but this one was by far my favorite. From having fun with a crazy modded van to genuinely connecting with and giving back to the community.
These vans have Traction and Stabilitrak that work together. Even by holding the button and turning them both off, once you hit over 20-25, stabilitrak will kick back on. It's programmed like this because it's a top heavy vehicle and GM wanted to try to prevent rollovers. Once you pull the traction and/or stabilitrak fuses, you should be good to go as far as burnouts go. You should be able to leave ABS and your wheel sensors hooked up

Part of the reason the van is surprisingly quick is that it's a 3500. 1 ton axles and closer gear ratio for towing. The closer gears make it feel like it's leaping off the road I bet

My work van: AWD ‘09 Chevy Express with the 5.3L LMF, same patina as yours, I absolutely love it, more than my personal gmc truck. we’ve been through a lot together, many long trips off road, logging trails, uncharted rugged northern Canadian landscapes, extreme winter weather.. she’s never let me down. 250,000Miles and counting; runs incredibly well, doesn’t burn or leak oil. So many times it’s been overloaded both in the cargo area and at the hitch. Keeps going strong! My co wants me to trade it for a transit which doesn’t even come close.
You can modify the rear stock wheels in the rear to be wider. Probably only need to be an inch wider to fit a wider tire. That way it’ll still look stock. Should be easy to find a shop to cut it in half, add an inch section, and balance it if needed.
Great video! I've driven several different types of the same van (all Chevys) for 500,000 miles+. Now I need to talk my boss into supercharging the work vans.

When I was working for a major Window and Door Manufacture in Canada in the 11 years I was there I went through 3 of these vans. They are a solid work horse.
Personally I don't think wider rear tires would be too much of a give away that it has that much power. It would seriously reduce your launch time from 0 to 60.
Definitely a 1 tire fire for sure! Time for a limited slip rear axle assembly!

Dude that was a great episode and event. You did an amazing job.
Alex love the Van. There is a few things I would do with it. First take out the traction control and abs. Then put a big break kit on it. Next put some stock wheels but lightly modified to fit fat slicks. Take off the grill and lightly dust the intercooler with black spray paint to give it that brushes metal look then reattach the front grill. Now I would do a few safety things to it to lock it down and make sure it doesn’t get stolen. First install Miami locks there two plates of steel with rivet looking bolts that bolt up from inside the fit between the two doors and you have a huge round lock that secure both doors shut. Do this for both the back and side doors. Next knock out the back glass and weld in two sheets of steel to close up the window holes in the back of the van. Install a separate video monitor with a camera or a rear view Merror with a video screen attached to a back up camera that is alwase live. Don’t change the stereo leave that stock if you want better tunes just add amps a DSP and some better speekers leave it stock looking . Then install GPS tracker or low Jack. Then install a immobilizer. To kill ignition. Last put dark tints on it. Then go have some fun. I would not change the engine just tune it for more power if you want and add posit traction with a solid one peace drive shaft and a lower gears in the rear end. These vans are broken into all the time stolen for there tools , ladder raqs and interior tool raq . It only takes 3 min with a flat head screwdriver and a coat hanger and there gone. I have seen guys go as far as to install cameras in and out side the van and locators to track it. Have fun be safe make it a sleeper and just enjoy it. But don’t go to crazy . I would hate to see you put a lot into it and have it stolen or worse stripped out. I would like to see a conversion van like this with the same set up. 5-700 hp but sleeper with the razed roof sat tv and air ride I think they make them
With AWD too. Now you can take that to 1000 wheel HP. Best of luck.

My Dad had a 1978 3/4 ton Chevy Gaucho with the 350 4 bbl under the hood. It did great burn-outs with the stock engine.

Awesome video! Very cool food drive! Detail the interior to "like new" condition. Paint the van the stock white, but PPF it and Ceramic Coat it. Put wider new stock looking wheels with wider tires. Upgrade the suspension and sway bars. Upgrade the brakes with yellow painted calipers. Detail the engine compartment with ceramic coating of as much as possible. From a distance, it will just look like a clean white 12-passenger van, but it is a sleeper!

Very cool. Van is awesome. I used to drive a 86 Econoline E350 with a 460 and a 3 speed, it would do pretty nice burnouts when empty.
