  • Everdell is a popular worker placement board game which ranks highly as one of Board Game Geek's top Euro Games amongst Wingspan, Ticket To Ride, Catan, Carcassonne.
Everdell has always had an appealing theme to it. Whilst the original game was highly accessible to most gamers, My Lil Everdell aims to please a younger audience or even a non-gamer audience. If you want to step into the world of board gaming but are feeling a little trepidatious, then this board game might just be for you!

Thanks for the review, I like the different scores for different audiences
BTW the dwelling combo/free critter mechanic might be simple, but it adds a lot of things that players need to keep track of. And with their texts and images being so small, it consumes more brainspace to do

Yes thats true. The combo free critter mechanic does take an extra step of explanation especially for a light version of the original game.
Thanks for the feedback on the scores, I may do the scores that way a little more often. :)

Thanks for this review!!! This is one of the few reviews I've seen for My Lil' Everdell with a focus on gamers who love Everdell but don't have kids, and it was really helpful! :)

I've played and enjoyed worker placement games, I remember really enjoying Agricola back in the day, but I find Everdell to be massively underwhelming. It just doesn't seem to have much player interaction. You just sit in your corner and build things, and then eventually, the game ends. Everyone I've played it with so far has basically finished it and said "Well, that was a game I guess."

Yes, the main interaction does come down to fighting for worker placement spots. It can feel a little solitaireish. Agricola is a different beast as the spaces open up over the rounds and theres way more depth to the cards you get in Agricola. I agree though! Maybe they could have added more red cards to promote more cross player interaction.

Finally got to play this version with my little critters and they did great. They picked up on the rules and the card interactions really quickly and well. I will say one thing that they did struggle with was how purple cards will score st the end of the game. They also still try and pick just the cards that they think are neat, over going for engines. Still overall had a great time all around.

Yes Its a game that kinda is on the border of being simple enough but a few extra frills in terms of the rules. Maybe with the purple cards, they'll become more familiar with them as time goes by? :) Thanks for sharing your experiences!

I love the idea of Everdell but I know that the people I play with would find the game too heavy and confusing. I might have to give this one a shot though. So cute! Thank you!

Yes. There is still a little bit of text and if you have never played a worker placement game before it might take a few explanations to get people to get their head around the concept too. I think the variety of card types might also be a hurdle for some as well.

    G'day friends!
What do you think of this DELL Light ful version of Everdell? Love the original. Feel free to contribute to the conversation below!
Correction: Princess Periwinkle on solo mode removes cards from the meadow making the drafting aspect a lot tighter! So really less options actually!

Or maybe Maple Valley, being a fellow "kiddified" version
