I came across Stranger in the summer of 1986. They were a cross between the L.A. hard rock that ruled the radio and great Southern Rock of the previous decade. I loved it. For the next 10 years, they took me and thousands of other Florida music fans on a non-stop party. Celebrating all of the amazing things life has to offer the young & young at heart. Due to bad management, bad contracts and bad luck, Stranger didn't get the recognition that they deserved and worked hard for. Greg, Ronnie, Tommy and John deserved to be superstars, even more so than many 'superstars' of the era. They were that good together. In 1996, we lost, not only a great guitar player and songwriter, but a great man in Ronnie Garvin. A guy that I looked up to very much as a musician and as a friend. To this day, this song, 'Clear Blue Morning', still makes me tear up. It makes me think about all of the incredible fun times had and the sometimes cruel way that life changes things. So here's to the finest purveyors of Florida Rock n Roll that ever were. RIP Ronnie and may Greg, Tom & John live long and happy lives. Thanks for the memories.

They would play anywhere any time saw them from the largest arenas in Florida to the smallest bowling ally bars That was the first time I ever saw them Ronnie was taking a break between sets and asked me why I wasn’t inside told him I forgot my ID he snuck me in the back room Astro lounge Sarasota Florida 1984 bowling alley bar held about 50 people standing room only good times for sure They would play several venues per night back in those days

They have more talent than 2/3rds of the bands that ever took the stage jay! Ronnie Garvin the guitar player was one of the best to ever play just ask the Florida bands that achieved the success Stranger didn’t betcha all of them know who he is as well as Stranger being one of the very best.
