Started the game literally two days ago. Bone gunlance has been absolutely facerolling every single thing I can throw it at, no problems upgrading it, I'm still wearing kulu head and full leather, chapter 11... yeah this was a good time to catch up hahaha
I hope this won't get nerfed until I get to the point of getting the bone GL to +10. Also for the sake of the ever underpowered Gunlance it would be very pleasing to at least have one game where Gunlance is really strong.
I haven’t dug too much into World or Ice borne yet; but I thought it was reasonably strong there? Rise Break at least made it more silly in a fun way, though breaking into it takes getting to late game.
Got my Bone GL to level 7 and I love the damage. Reminds me of playing long in World. Can spam charged shells or if I have a long window I can do bursts. Wrymstake hits hard af too. Thank god the GL finally arrived!
I'm a lance main, but it seems that no matter what Monster Hunter game I play, I will ALWAYS end up switching to gunlance. And it seems Monster Hunter Now is no exception 😂 Great guide!
finally, the advice from the master gunlance it self! at first i've been only eyeing for jho GL, but my jho mats are already spent on my jho lance :/ i only use long style because its comfy to me.. and since i havent really understand to do other combes with other shelling type in now..oh but ijust found how to do slap stick boom with normal last night, its fun, but i dont think its efficient enough to do it on solo hunt before it reached G8> , otherwise long shelling style is my prefered playstyle
I would love to see a Focus comparison with side by side footage for 0, 3, and 5 points in focus (or all stages). Also, I love how quick you can dodge after a full burst. I also love that you can block or evade out of a bad wyrmstake.

IDK if I'll ever do "Raid" monsters like Jho or Kushala, simply because my phone's crappy performance, and that there's no other players where I live.
@XmortoxX1990 Also most Jho you will find in the field not raids. Only certain monsters can be Jho so it's pretty easy to narrow down. Just takes a bit of walking/traveling sometimes.
Each gunlance has a shell type. Normal has strongest fullburst but is the weakest at everything else and shell have the least range in all directions. Wide has the strongest uncharged shells and wyvern fire but is awful at fullbursting and only has 2-3 shells. Also has a wider hitbox but that is mostly useless in now. Long is in the middle of everything except charged shells being the strongest. Long is "better" in the sense that you can max damage with just artillery ( plus sneak attack or aggresive dodge for extra situational damage) and the bone gunlance only needs wyvern gem shards and bones and you can craft it hunting anything in the game and walking.
Do you think the rathian gunlance with (poison) is better then the bone gunlance or the bone is better? G10 vs G10 who wins? And other question is, can you play vs a 8 star monster with the bone gunlance "showing" your weapon lvl just to us have a comprision?
They play absolutely different because the shell types. Normal is based around the fb combo and melee attacks. Long excells at charged shells long distance attacks. I will do propper dps comparasions and formula once I get enough data. Rathiam should win vs monsters with very good hitzones or that are slow... but good luck trying to FB loop an high level odogaron, your best bet is quick reload, slam, fb but when is doing its combo forget about it. Long is much more versatile against all targets. I hope you understand where I'm going.

I am now committed to maining the gunlance. This thing does DAMAGE so easily. Just don’t go crazy with wild combos all the time. Save the high damage combos for when you have an opening.
The do it yourself demonstration is easy, pick 2 gls of the same shell type and rarity but different attacks snd shell, you get the same damage. I maybe will do a short demonstrating it
How do people even get 40 gems to upgrade their equipment to level 10? Do high tier monsters drop them like crazy? I got to the point where I couldn'r really upgrade any of my weapons past 4 because I can't get any gems to drop and all the relevant monsters I find are 3 stars and under. Love the game otherwise.
idk man, after the last update, i felt like WGS drop rate kinda dropped? i got a lot of WGS back in zineogre event, and can upgrade 2 of my bow gun to G9, and 3 of my lance to G8
@@rhealize I’m pretty much chilling at rank 8 field quests until I’m leveled up with both armor and weapons between CB and GL. That’s gonna be a good while for me. I kinda feel like after reaching a certain hurdle, using carves to double rarity 6 drops just chews away at the lifespan of the game.
You need 8* monsters unlocked they drop like once a day for me. Depends of how many monsters you hunt. If you think this is bad imagine the 90 you need to max a no pure shell gunlance
@@rhealizeI feel the same, I’ve killed like 100-200 8 stars over the past 3 weeks and gotten 1 WGS drop. To be fair I’ve had a few r6 mats drop from zinogre and jho and just got my first kushala one today, but I’m reeeeally needing the WGS for my other stuff, don’t even have a g10 weapon yet… Though to be fair that’s also on me since I’ve bumped like 4 armor pieces to g8 for driftsmelting 🥲
I have saw some japanese players killing at least two different 10*. He had several levels of aggresive aggro and perfect dodged most attacks. Not sure yet if can with the worst one.
They really made the transition to GL smooth. I have my palico following basarios non stop, we have to grind artillery!
Can confirm the bone gunlance has been my main, been treating it like a lanceless gunshield

I've been using the Pink Rathian Gunlance and it is pretty good. Finally able to put those Pink Rathian mats to use.
Status is very good with WS

I've been using focus level 5 in concentration level 2
What's the point of playing it without the lance, now it's just close range bowgun with shield.
Its like lbg with only sticky ammo with no recoil and with shield

Keep playing and you'll get there eventually

"ONLY" 40 gems...I have been wiping 8* since January...only have had a single wyvern gem drop...you read that correctly. ONE Gem in 5 months.
What an ungodly luck... now well, for maxing other weapon you need... 90.

No. Every skill that says in the description "increases attack power" do not work. If the skill says "increases damage" then is possible.
