A big help Colin - thank you! I am "pretty good / OK" with Photoshop for my hobby purposes, but still finding new tools, techniques, and settings everyday thanks to you and others! I have used the lasso tools to get into some of the tight corners rather than argue with the quick selection tool, but your refine edge tips will be easier in many cases.
Great Colin. Yes I did. It reinforced the fact that there are no quick fixes to get quality. Nothing just comes off the edge of a paintbrush (or mouse)!
I like the clue about the brush size. It usually does not work for me and I get frustrated with it. I will try again. So thanks so much again Colin. Notice under arm as well still had ocean inside. Magnifier is such a great idea for everything we do on photoshop/wacom. No rush any more. Keep up the great and transforming work in our lives. You are simply super.
The hard edge brush is something I haven't used - now I understand - and I have purchased that Selection secrets course! Very helpful - as always! You're the best! Thank you
Hard edge brush in the select and mask dialogue is a game changer for me. Never understood how to use it correctly/to its full potential. Awesome technique. Thanks for sharing!
In my opinion, if you are going to take that much time then you are MUCH better off using the pen tool. The QUICK selection tool is for those instances that are obvious and therefor are much more conducive for using the Quick Selection tool.
Houston Brown actually I’d use both since the pen tool can’t do the hair and the texture in the seat. I have a different tutorial on the pen tool. I like to focus on single techniques per tutorial so people can learn better.
Cheers Colin. Could you do a video on how to add an image or text to a can or mug? A real bonus would be adding the same image to a tapered cup. I've seen the 'create a 3D can' video you did but that didn't start with a 2D image.
Hi Collin! Let's say I want to create a library of foreground/backgrounds with complex selections. How would I add another image layer to it to complete it? do I have to re-select everything again to make that happen or is there an automated way of doing so? Is a PSD file require for PS to recognize empty space? PS, bought your selections tutorial just haven't got around to watching it.
This was very helpful, Colin, thank you. I also work with simulated people, as in Sims 4 and we do modelling with them in there and this will be invaluable for this type of activity also.
Awesome 😎 job Colin love ❤️ these tutorials. Hey 👋 Colin I would like to see a tutorial on making really awesome 😎 thumbnails for TH-cam. Like getting sun glare on a camera lens maybe some blur or distortion and also making the text look great with the image. Hope to see a tutorial on that. Can’t wait 😊.
Yeah, this is great! This is one of the things that makes me pull my hair out - and this will help me keep what little I have left. I'm one of those impatient folks that you were talking about! LOL Now I've got to go give this a try! 👍
First, I don't know why you illustrate using the selection tool to define your selection? Photoshop's "select subject" does a much better, faster and accurate job automatically. I stopped using the selection tool to remove those difficult small corner edges, etc. The pen tool works so much better and faster (and it isn't necessary to actually know how to use this tool well). Additionally, I stopped using the refine edge brush to remove areas inside and/or outside of the desired selection. This never gets rid of all of it, and leaves some residue (which you most likely are going to use yet another tool to get rid of it). Try what this tutorial suggests. If it doesn't remove those areas cleanly (which it won't), hit ctrl+Z and start over again using the pen tool. Just click around the area to be removed. Connect the start and end dot, then hit the "selection" button from the menu above, followed by an "ok" click. The only areas where I use the refine edge brush is around hair (and that may require the use of several tools for the near perfect results).
I am starting to get really pissed here. I have watched so many videos. Why does my photshop not do anything your phtoshop does?seriously? I select, hit mask and I get nothing.

Very useful for me. I didn't know you could have a partial transparency on a part of a cutout. Thanks, once again!
Another great one Collins! The hard edges refinement with the tool in the Select and Mask was very helpful.
your contents are very useful ✌️😘
Very helpful! Thank you!
This was helpful, especially the hard edge brush in Select and Mask. Thank you.

Thanks for another good video. I didn't know about changing the size of the quick select tool with pen pressure. That is a useful bit of knowledge.

Hi. At the moment 2:12, you asked to push what key?? Forgive me for asking.
Yeah, this is great! This is one of the things that makes me pull my hair out - and this will help me keep what little I have left. I'm one of those impatient folks that you were talking about! LOL Now I've got to go give this a try! 👍
Can this be done on an iPad with photoshop express?
The Beard Dream no it can’t. Only CC
Thanks, very helpful - please make more videos on what to do when the marketing hyped one-click solutions don't work :-)
I guess I'm one of the few odd people, who goes through the trouble, and selects everything manually with the pen tool.
braien334 I already did a tutorial on the pen tool, so this is a different one
I would switch to the Pen Tool to fine-tune the details for more accuracy. Again, it's just my preference. Great video!
👏🏻❣️

Not perfect selection man...believe in Pen Tool
Very useful! Thank you!
