- Today I'm reviewing THRIVE CAUSMETICS mascara, eye liner, and eye brightener... is it as good as the advertisements and reviews say!?!?

@@SydneyNicole1 Between chemo and radiation I never saw any free gifts at my chemo center. I believe they do it, just not to the extent that they allow us to think they do.
I now know why some people’s eyelashes look crazy. Who the heck blinks their eye like that when they are applying mascara? I’m 44 and I’ve never seen anyone do that.

You’re right. Not one single flake, and NO smudging. I love it!
I use this mascara. I start at the base of my lash and wiggle the brush a little there and then swipe upward. After I cover my lashes I go in for the top of the lashes lightly. I've noticed not only is it great about not transferring mascara on my undereye area throughout the day but my natural lashes get longer fast using this mascara. Like I notice when I don't have any makeup on that they are longer, stronger and healthier. I've been using it for at least 6 months and I don't think another mascara could make me happy again.
You need to swipe once and let it dry and then apply another coat. Also, curl your lashes AFTER your mascara is dry. Makes a huge difference. This is the only mascara that has never smeared or flaked off with my oily skin.

The fast blinking while applying mascara is strange 🤔 I love Loreal too that's been my go to forever. Very good and affordable.
I’m OBSESSED with this mascara!!! It’s the best one I’ve EVER used!!! It doesn’t smudge or flake and comes off SO easily at the end of the day. I’ve also noticed my eyelashes have grown and gotten stronger over time. This is the one!!!
P.S. you’re applying it wrong. Do long strokes, wait a few seconds and then do another coat the same way.

I don’t think that specific mascara is best applied with ... the “blink” technique? For those who buy this, best way to apply would be to start from the root underneath and slightly wiggle back and forth to the end of your eyelash then do a sweep on the top and run it through again like the first step. Have to do it Simi fast and not let it have time to dry and clump (this is with most mascara I have found) . I’m not a make up expert so I apologize for the wording, but hopefully that helps anyone trying it. Not all foundation/eyeshadow/blush/highlighter can be applied the same way. Sometimes it is legit your choice of how you apply that is causing it to not have the best results. Good luck!!
I absolutely agree! I think she was a little bit hasty applying, because thrive mascara and L’Oreal voluminous mascara are my two favorites, then they’ve worked for me for years! You have to do the light coat, wait, let it dry, the next coat, etc. to get the desired effect. I think she’s just messing a bit. But yes, love you, and I agree with all of it!
This is THE REALEST review on Thrive that I've seen. That eye is all jacked up and that highlighter is a ghost highlight because I don't see anything either. Thanks for keeping it REAL.

The first time I used the mascara it clumped for me as well but the next application I was aware and did it differently and I'm so glad I did because it's my favorite! The way it comes off is amazing

I tried it twice and followed their instructions. Still thought it didn't build enough and got very clumpy very quickly. I sent it back.
Before trying a new brand or formula, it’s a good idea to see how the company recommends application. I just watched Allie Glines full face (including new concealer) of Thrive and the results were amazing. I have finicky eyelashes and initially I didn’t like the mascara, but then I learned how to apply it. Now I have both the brown and black. Also, not every brand is for everyone 🙂

Try using just your hand and not blinking...give it a chance...it really is a magical mascara!

I've hesitated for months because I thought it was me when I look at the models and all I see is spider legs that are clumped together. Everyone falls for the obvious lie that their lashes look fantastic because they say they do. Instead of believing our own eyesight, we decide that a model wouldn't lie to us and a company wouldn't lie to us so it must be our failure to 'get it'. Thanks for being so honest.

I've used loreal Paris telescopic mascara for 15 year's, its by far the best!! 60% longer lashes, idk its that much but thats what it says on the cover, and my lashes turn out perfect every time. Its only $8

I love my thrive mascara. I have very oily lids and this doesn’t budge. I curl my lashes first though. Tubing mascara is great as I’m older because I don’t want to fight with my products to remove them. My under eye is sensitive
I will say, I guess I was a “women in need” as I got a free full size of this from a local cancer group in a care package after my breast cancer diagnosis. It’s GREAT that they do this. 😊 It does NOT come off till you take it off.

I'm so glad I watched your review before buying that mascara. My lash hair is fine and thin so any mascara that has a thick heavy formula will instantly weigh down my lashes and lose the curl and lift. I find that a primer coat of waterproof mascara helps a lot because waterproof dries faster and locks in the curl, so then I can bulk it up with a 2nd coat of a different mascara.

@@SydneyNicole1 I found this mascara to make my lashes stick together if I go over them to many times. I think its the wand though. It doesn't give me volume only length. I like more volume, so I tried dipping a different wand into the Thrive and it worked so much better! No clumping!

I have to have a spoolie ready to go right away to tackle any clumping before this mascara dries. I like it okay, but lots of mascaras pull my lashes straight and this is one of them, sadly. The BB from thrive isn’t mind blowing for me either. I will say, their powder eyeshadows are amazing and I use excellent quality shadows. Beautiful formula. I kind of wish they sold them in single pans for Zpalettes.

I think it also depends on your natural lashes. When I had short stubby lashes, No mascara in the world could make them look longer and volumized. After I started using grande lash however, this mascara worked wonders for me.

Some people do apply mascara with a blinking technique. Weirded me out the first time I saw someone do it, but it’s a normal application method for some people.

Why would she “sabotage” the mascara? She was very excited about it. And wanting it to work. You could see her disappointment..... everyone’s different. Some products work on one person and not on the next. Just the way it goes.

My favorite mascara!! Comes off super easy. Stays on all day and really does not clump. You just have to control the amount and the lashes and keep combing it out till you get the thickness and length and separation you want. Works fabulous for my thin lashes. Making them lush. I wear it everyday.
Legit took me half a tube to get used to it but I finally got it. Don’t know if it’s worth twice as much for my LOreal tho.
I absolutely agree with you about the thrive mascara. I bought the 3 pieces like you did. I like a natural look so I do like the eye brightener. I only wear eyeliner on special occasions so it's ok. But I do love a dramatic mascara that lifts and builds to a crescendo. The Lash Extension Mascara just didn't do it for me at all. I, like you get better results from my favorite drugstore mascara. I did send the mascara back for a credit and got another eye brightener. Good honest review!

I’m just seeing this video now and I’m shocked that any mascara would work with the blinking of the eyes method. I have heard of this but have never seen it. I have very thin and short lashes and I tried this mascara only once but it was fantastic. Slowly moving them from side to side as I’m moving my way up was the method I used.
The brightner looked great on you. It was visible on the camera.

This mascara is my holy grail. I feel like you're applying it while blinking way too fast. Slower strokes will definitely make it look better.

I came to TH-cam after trying it out and loving it. This is the third video I’ve seen where people fail to like it. 🥴 I applied it to individual lashes and it is like magic!
Maybe I will need to retry it!
Idk if this will help but id try to curl your lashes first then apply a coat and use a lash brush to separate your lashes while they're still wet! That'll help with the clump affect! Although no one wants to go through all these steps when doing lashes... but it might help if the results are worth it?! And I do blink my eyes while applying my mascara! I don't completely close my eyes when blinking but I roll the brush as I blink too bc it helps with application! Idk why some ppl are weirded out by the blinking method? I've always done it! Seems like the mascara is on the thick side.

@@SydneyNicole1 I just hold my eyes open and apply smooth light coats from root of lash to tip. I usually apply a second coat before it's fully dry. 🤷🏼♀️ If I apply*too* much it can get clumpy.
I love their eye shadow sticks and mascara. It is the only mascara I have found that doesn't smudge or smear all over. The only thing but th eye shadow sticks is the I can't figure out how to use the self contained sharpener.
Wonder if its Cuz I have super curled lashes naturally? Also..u can only do one coat without it looking clumpy
maybe that’s it!! my lashes need certain mascara in order to hold a curl.

Just threw out Rimmel and Clinique because of smudging. Purchased Thrive and figured for the price it would be good. It does not smudge at all, but my lashes do not stay curled and so what is the point. Going back to the drugstore.

It has really quick and you only need one coat the more coats you put on it clumps and does what it's doing so you can have to take it off and start over cuz I'm going to put on there the watches going to make them look because it's that like a synthetic tubing to it
The Stella champagne shade was invisible on me too. They now how a silver, a gold and a white one too that work great for inner corner. The white one works for me because I’m pretty pale. They are pretty great about returns so send back what isn’t working for you!
I'm not trying to be ugly but I tried this mascara and just like you I used the blink blink blink application and hated it! Thought I would never use it again. Until a friend showed me how. You have to go slow and kinda wiggle it back and forth from root to tip. I love it now. :) by the way I subscribed :):)

The pictures they use to advertise even look clumpy. It makes me wonder if most of the positive reviews are either paid or from people who sell from the company as well. Isn't it an MLM?

I love the mascara too! My lashes are thick and crazy long, it doesn’t smudge like most mascaras do on me, and it comes off so easily at night! That and L’Oreal voluminous are my favorites, by far.
I won’t purchase it again. It didn’t work for me. I tried applying it a few times but no good for me .
To be fair, most brand new mascaras put too much product on the lashes, so you usually need to wipe off the wand. It seems so wasteful, so I usually use a folded,piece of plastic wrap,and then instead of dipping the wand back into the tube, I use what’s on the plastic wrap for second and third coats. As for that cream highlighter stick, any light cream or powder champagne colored shadow will do the same. Not sure what the prices are on this brand, but thanks for this review. Makes me think twice about buying yet more products that I probably already have in some form and really don’t need.
Tubing mascara is generally known not to take a curl. Something about the chemistry of the product.

Ok when I first tried this I was like omg so thick and it didn’t turn out well. The thing is I always dampen my lashes slightly with water and use my finger to tap lightly on them. I didn’t do that with this mascara. SO! then I tried again and this time dampened my lashes with my finger, don’t get them soaked just lightly get them moist, I do this after I curl them. Then once I did that I applied the thrive again and went in with a very light hand as I applied it and omg!!!!! I felt like the girl from the add with long lashes it went on beautifully when you do this trick. I wonder if that’s what they are doing In the adds and not telling people that they are dampening their lashes first. Try it, it should do the trick I am in love! Best mascara ever!

So far, I’m four days in and I hate it. I’ve had exactly the same experience - it clumps my lashes together and combing them out doesn’t help. I usually have great lashes - L’Oréal is THE BEST drugstore mascara (if not absolutely the best period) and I also love butterLondon’s Double Decker lashes. I like a fluffy bottlebrush type of brush - the plasticky rubbery ones never work well for me. I like a one-coat-and-done mascara that doesn’t flake and comes off easily. For me, the Thrive mascara is NOT that. 😕

Less is definitely more with that mascara but I do like it. I liked it on your second try after two swipes. It is easy to over do it but the product lasts forever for me since I use so little.

I tried the mascara and eye brighter - didn't like either one. Like you, I kept trying the mascara. The only thing that helped was to wipe off the wand before applying the mascara. Still wasn't crazy about it, tho.

It didn’t work for me either same issues.
You need to swipe up words almost like you’re pulling your lashes up, then allow it to dry and apply another coat the same way and then maybe do a curling afterwards. You’re doing a lot of dabbing and that’s why you’re getting all the clumping.

I have the no smudge tubing mascara from Essence and it's not bad for 5$. Slightly drying after 5-6 hours. Give it a try, it comes off with warm water.

Honestly, it looked like that one spot on your right eye was missing lashes and maybe that's why it was giving you trouble
I have been dying to try both the Thrive and the Blink tubing mascara. I’m subscribed to several beauty boxes a month and they have featured bought those mascaras I just haven’t gotten them 😞. We get a lot of mascaras, therefore I refuse to buy yet another mascara especially at $34😳.

Base and wiggle in long strokes. Don't blink on the wand lol and you can hold your lid up instead of poking your eye with eyeliner if your doing waterline.
I think it's definitely your application method. Stop blinking your eyes and use the wand to sweep the mascara up. You should get HUGE lift.

I’ve been feeling the same way about this mascara, it gets super clumpy and flakes. I don’t think it’s worth the hype. I try to scrape extra product off the spoolie brush back into the bottle, it seems like less is more with this mascara.

I’ve never applied mascara like that. I just open my eye and apply the mascara from root to tip. The blinking isn’t the correct way. I’m a makeup artist and that’s just not the way you should use mascara.

Appreciate the honesty. I'm honesty surprised that you were unsuccessful. It looks like you didnt even learn, from the manufacturer, how it should be applied. Also, I doubt this mascara can be applied properly with you batting you eyes. Very interesting. I almost thought you purposefully applying it wrong, with the blinking, but now I see that's an actually idiosyncrasy of yours. Lols. Maybe try it with correct application technique and steady lids? Because, you know, of course a tubing mascara would clump up, like that, with you blinking like that.

when it arrives make sure to go the website to see how to apply because I believe they give you different instructions than how mascara is usually applied

Tbh I think this works for people with naturally long lashes, and I think on people with shorter lashes is it can clump really easily
I would be one to disagree with this statement. It’s based on how you apply. I don’t think the blinking method works. I have very straight lashes that look like I don’t have any. They are not long at all. I just got my mascara this week and I love it. I start at the base and lift up. I barely wear makeup, and work with children. This stayed perfect, with the method I did, all day long. Even into the next day because I fell asleep with it on. It didn’t budge.
I tried searching the brilliant eye brightner in Ulta, it rubbed completely away with very minimal effort. And I rub my eyes a lot. Then I went a head and bought the mascara, for that reason, and I’m not impressed. The formula was way too wet and weighted my lashes down. I only kept it because it’s so easy to remove. I have super sensitive eyes and I have to have a tubing mascara. It comes right off with warm water. But I also found a tubing Revlon mascara that preforms the exactly the same way. And it doesn’t weigh my lashes down. So I’ll be sticking to the Revlon over the Thrive.

@@SydneyNicole1 it’s the Revlon Mega Multipler in a blue green cap. It doesn’t say on packaging upfront, but in details. And I’ve used it and definitely preferred it to the Thrive.

You should apply the coat to your lashes using the wand to brush through your lashes not let the blinking grab what it can from the wand lol

Tight lining is a great way to develop dry eyes..MGD…look it up.
You can see a slight difference I think you should have got a different color because that's too much of your natural look so it's it's not going to brighten it like you want it to
I tried it several times and honestly it just doesn’t work for me. I even left a review on their site and said it doesn’t work for me, too wet and clumped and flaked. They wrote back giving me directions on best to apply. Honestly if it doesn’t work the first time, it’s not gonna work. So that’s my advice, let it go. The millions of positive reviews are probably half fake idk. I discovered Maybelline Sky High with awesome reviews and I tried it yes it works for me. I also luv the Maybelline Falsies.

It's user error on your part and isn't a scam. It's great mascara, but you're using way too much

I have this mascara and it’s awesome. You’re not putting it on right. Maybe a few more tries and you’ll get the hang of it.
I agree 100% this mascara is meh at best. I am also out the money. I'll either trash or pass on. I have no intention of using this stuff again back to the drugstore for me it works better.
