+Cobra This is probably one of the only good documentaries vice has made. Every other one is full of their leftist opinion and you never see the full picture, ESPECIALLY if it has anything to do with social issues.

Because lots of ex gang members don’t want there face on camera specially when removing gang tats because gangs don’t take taking off their tats lightly it’s a form of betraying them.

You just figure even if you left the life youd still cause as much pain.
Real talk though? This is political. Offering job training and free tattoo removal is not something the current administration would support, especially when it comes to rehabilitating for ex-cons and gang members. Especially especially if those former gang members are Latinos.
what he is doing is really hard. just showing his face can get him in problems. this shows the ones with real strength real guts to actually admit being a gang member got him no wear and there is no point of doing this crab. good job Homeboy and vice.

Yeah the dude that wrote that book and started homeboy industries came to my college and they made us go listen to his speech, but it was well worth it good man 😊
Ik im late, but sometimes gang members are the only people you have to look up to. If you don't have a father figure, but you grow up in a place where almost all of the men in your neighborhood are gang affiliated, those become your role models. Those become the people you want to be. They sort of accept you and sometimes you feel that those are your family, and you feel obligated to join. So personally I don't think him wanting to be a gang banger is sad, but its sad that no one else tried takin him on a better path.
Man that’s heartbreaking what happened to that guy, he went through the psychological transition to step up and get them removed, then to be kidnapped and new tattoos put on him. I hope he’s ok
Good job, Vice. These types of social programs need to be more known, not only for people involved in similar situations, but for the public. Gangs are not the problem, they are a symptoms of a greater issue. This goes for your story on PTSD from gang violence. Fantastic. We are all human, and we all need to recognize crime suppression and mass imprisonment are not solutions. Homeboy Industries, and many other programs are the real solutions. Not enough people know this, even political figures. Vice, you are doing good not only with regard to entertainment, but for the good of society. Good shit.
That tattoo removal ain’t no joke... I had one taken off my arm and it took 2 years to get it totally removed cuz you gotta give it a couple months to heal in between treatments ... But the pain was worth it, well worth it!!!
There is nothing sweeter in the world than watching an individual change their life for the better. I’m happy for these few. So many are lost in so many ways.
