Happy Passover! A musical greeting from the Israel Philharmonic

- This Pessach, because each of us is celebrating separately, we prepared a special musical greeting, which we hope you'll enjoy.
On behalf of the orchestra, we wish all our subscribers and all music lovers in Israel a happy Passover and good health.

This is late, but I felt compelled to say thank you.
I was sitting in the cardiac intensive care ward of a big hospital in Toronto, Canada. I'd just suffered a massive heart attack and because of COVID protocols, was all alone, no visitors. In fact the ward was practically empty. I had pulled through and was recovering. It's the first night of Pesach and the first time in 64 years I am missing a seder - ours was to be a small one which my wife and I had planned - without our daughter who is self-isolating elsewhere. Missing my family was just too much. All I had was a cell phone and found this video. I started crying when I heard the very first note and cried through three subsequent viewings. I will never forget the comfort and joy I derived from these marvelous musicians - thank you all, from the bottom of my heart. /david

Peter, for too long we were told it is a Jewish holiday. Remember there were no jews then. God showed the world the value of freedom. Condemned slavery. Gave the people the Ten Commandments, the moral code to live by. That 3.5 thousand years ago. US abolished slavery only in 1863. That what happened, however Israelites were the only people who accepted God.
Open the book of Genesis, god has created universe and everything in it. He is God of everyone. Just open your eyes.

That was genius! It is weird to spend an important holiday all cooped up at home and without outside contact. In Ireland we had St. Patrick’s day in March, just when all the restrictions started. All parades were cancelled, all pubs closed.
But we’ll all just celebrate twice as much next year.

Thank you. I was born in NY in 1938... I remember WWII and I grew up with anti-semitism:
"I was a Jew but I was Different." "I was a Jew but I was "nice". Chased to be beaten up @ age 10 "because the Jews killed Christ." Never a word about Him dying a Roman death or that the Romans did nothing that wasn't to their benefit. It was preached in churches that it was our fault.
This made Passover for me this year
Thank you for bringing the spirit of Pesach to me. I now feel liberated from isolation.

@@ellynmacgregor8210 yup...I do and so do you...except I don't turn as DEAF EAR to His laws...and playing music on yom tov is desecration of his laws as are opening computers to listen to them...etcetera etcetera...I play by His rules( I try very hard) and I suppose, you make up your own based upon convenience.
