Talk about recording on deaths door? Mother Love is far closer. Recorded 6 months before his death, and is still able to hit amazing high notes. Greatest Lead Vocal ever!
Motherlove was closer. Freddie couldn't even finish the final verse of that song :( He passed away a week after recording his last lines of that song. Brian had to sing the last verse to complete the song :'(
The story goes Brian May was not sure Freddie could nail this as he was so ill. Freddie's response was to take a hit of vodka and nail it in one take....
Chiliholic just that part? Where did you see that? (I'm legitimately asking, I'm curious). But even if the story is just for that one line, I don't think that Freddie's body could've managed doing too many takes at that point in his illness, so it's still an amazing thing what he did.
Per Brian May interviews, Freddie was propping himself up on the mixing board in pain and unable to stand when he sang this part, downed a couple off vodka shots and let it rip. 🙌
Freddie Mercury's vocal performance in this song ...simply incredible...although he was so sick at that time he fucking killed it.The talent of this man is still unmatchable, even after 25 years from his death nobody can touch him. He'll always be one of the greatest legends ever.Goosebumps.
At 3:16 I literally want to cry, you hear a man who is knocking on deaths door yet he still finds a way through it, Freddie you will forever be remembered and you will forever be the best
3:19 the way he sings almost screaming at death and fate that he will never give up. so it was. because until today Freddie Mercury will remain immortal thanks to his music and his wonderful voice.
Discussing the vocal performance here is like talking about the video. This is beyond his (impeccable) technique. I feel sorry for who can't see/feel that.
Leandro If someone don't feel something on this song, they can't call themselves human beings! Freddie put a lot of emotion on this song, but we can't imagine what his body and soul were suffering!
Agreed. This is the first time I've heard this song as 'vocals only'. At the 3.16 mark is my favourite part of the song because of his energy and power. But to hear it without the music is truly chilling. Freddie was amazing, a true frontman and legend.
This is powerful, it gives me goose bumps all the way through, and to think how much pain he was going through and what he knew what he was facing is testament to his strength, he truly was a god that walked this earth and 1 in a billion, we will never see the likes of him again and that's why he's a bigger star now than when he was alive, as people realise how much he contributed to music and what a huge Miss he is. God bless you Freddie mercury.
It's pretty admirable how he kept singing despite being extremely sick. That shows us that he was a warrior. I think even the members from Queen were like hesitant if Freddy could perform this song, but he was capable, and really killed It, and gave us this amazing song. I think "The Show Must Go On" is my favorite song by Queen. I really love it.
Has always been my favourite Queen song, and this is single handedly the greatest vocal performance ive ever heard. I am a huge fan of Axl Rose, Myles Kennedy, Bruce Dickinson - Rock powerhouses - and this leaves them for dust.

Freddie Mercury is a pure proof and symbol that. No matter who you are or where you come from is just your mind that stop you from becomming whatever you want and always have faith in yourself😉 Always believie in what you do😉
You have to love the armchair critics...the men and women that couldn't hit a note if it were the broad side of a barn, yet describe his voice as 'weak'. They probably saw Rog say "It was an ailing voice - but still, he hit a note," and somehow interpreted that to mean Freddie's voice was weak. He recorded some of his most beautiful...some of his most powerful vocals while ill. Much respect to him.

You can't find any weakness in his voice. If you didn't know he was very sick back then, you wouldn't say that for sure. He made some of his best vocal performances in the last three albums, including in the material he left for Made In Heaven
Freddie knowing that it was his legacy and that he leaves us all his soul in these verses... ufff... hearing only his voice, it destroys me... long live Queen, long live Freddie!!!!
Unbelievable !! My wife sent me this, I had never heard it before. My GOD, the man was a powerhouse. Freddie is an Angel singing in GODs choir, lead vocals I’m sure. I can’t wait for the movie !!
Although, Freddie Mercury, to me, is Rock n Roll’s greatest vocalist, this, to me, is his greatest vocal recording. The man was dying from such a deadly disease, and he just put his heart into his final recording. A lot of today’s artists can learn a lot from him.
It is! What I especially love about it is the symbolism: the repeating ‘go on, go on’ echo is done without Freddies voice, just like the very ending… gives me chills everytime!

Waaaaaaawww, it 's like i' ve just hear it for the first time!!! I know it by heart of course, but... Il seems to me like I can hear Freddie beside me!!! Oh thank you so much...
Freddie was such a soldier. If someone today was dying of cancer or whatever, and still doing their music half alive, there would be music videos ''brave videos'' all over the fucking place. Freddie never wanted his illness to be a focus point.
Yes and yes. From a technical singing point of view, there are moments where you can tell that the notes are coming from a slighter-framed Freddie (especially in his "chest" voice); but that's all, it's not "weakness".
He was literally on death's door when this was recorded. Rock God
Talk about recording on deaths door? Mother Love is far closer. Recorded 6 months before his death, and is still able to hit amazing high notes. Greatest Lead Vocal ever!

Queen Lyrics
"The Show Must Go On"
Empty spaces.
What are we living for?
Abandoned places.
I guess we know the score.
On and on.
Does anybody know what we are looking for?
Another hero,
Another mindless crime
Behind the curtain
In the pantomime.
Hold the line.
Does anybody want to take it anymore?
Show must go on.
Show must go on.
Inside my heart is breaking.
My make-up may be flaking.
But my smile still stays on.
Whatever happens,
I'll leave it all to chance.
Another heartache,
Another failed romance.
On and on.
Does anybody know what we are living for?
I guess I'm learning.
I must be warmer now.
I'll soon be turning
'Round the corner now.
Outside the dawn is breaking,
But inside in the dark I'm aching to be free.
Show must go on.
Show must go on.
Inside my heart is breaking.
My make-up may be flaking,
But my smile still stays on.
My soul is painted like the wings of butterflies.
Fairytales of yesterday will grow but never die.
I can fly, my friends.
Show must go on.
Show must go on.
I'll face it with a grin.
I'm never giving in-
Oh-with the show.
I'll top the bill,
I'll overkill.
I have to find the will to carry on with the show.
On with the show.

God Bless Him ❤️❤️🎤🎤 🇬🇧 Still sings better than singers today, when he’s dying! My Legend! 👑🤩💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓
Thanks Freddy for this!! We miss you a Lot!! We love you
Waaaaaaawww, it 's like i' ve just hear it for the first time!!! I know it by heart of course, but... Il seems to me like I can hear Freddie beside me!!! Oh thank you so much...
One of darling Freddie's most powerful and impassioned vocals, recorded when he was so very, very sick...
Every time I hear this I get goosebumps
Brian May describes this 1st and only vocal take by Freddie as sounding like a laser through crystal... best and only description
Exactly and the performance is more striking because he knew what lay ahead for him...
Teetering on the brink, facing the abyss. And despite that still Freddie delivered one of the best vocal performances ever recorded.
I searched this because we needed the vocals for our instrumental show, now I'm sitting here both frightened and heartbroken...Such talent 💖
Holy shit, even towards the end, Freddie had an otherworldly voice!
