Mercury was so ill, and could barely walk, when the band recorded the song in 1990, that May had concerns as to whether he was physically capable of singing it. Recalling Mercury's performance, May states; "I said, 'Fred, I don't know if this is going to be possible to sing.' And he went, 'I'll f-cking do it, darling' - vodka down - and went in and killed it, completely lacerated that vocal.
Hustlermetalftw Oh he could walk around the time the vocals were recorded for Innuendo. Just look at his physical performance in the Headlong and Slightly Mad videos that were filmed after the album had been recorded.

For those of you who don't know, Freddie was just months away from dying when he recorded this song in one take. ONE TAKE. For someone who was so weak that he struggled to live on a daily basis, he sang this flawlessly in one take.
It wasnt months like some people think. The album was recorded between 1989-90, with sessions booked when freddie felt well enough to come in, the album was pretty much mixed by the end of 90 but they waited till february 91. Innuendo (single) was released in January 1991. Im going slightly mad followed in March. Headlong was released in May and in the uk they were the only songs released to promote Innuendo (THE ALBUM) in the UK Note (in the UK) The Show Must go on was the final single released in Freddies life time in October 1991 to promote Greatest Hits II. Days Of Our Lives was released as a double A-side with Bo-Rhap in December 1991. But all songs were either started (or re-visited) in early 1989 to late 1990, with some probably left over from The Miracle. The last songs freddie recorded were Winters Tale (last song he wrote and recorded in full) You Dont Fool Me (not enough lyrics to make a full song) Mother Love (his last vocal)
I really hate death & hate that it's almost always the very best people who leave so young. Be nice to find out they're just taken to a higher dimension because aliens wanted their talents.

The show must go on, yeah
Inside my heart is breaking
My make-up may be flaking
But my smile still stays on
Whatever happens, I'll leave it all to chance
Another heartache, another failed romance
On and on, does anybody know what we are living for?
I guess I'm learning (I'm learning learning learning)
I must be warmer now
I'll soon be turning (turning turning turning)
Round the corner now
Outside the dawn is breaking
But inside in the dark I'm aching to be free
The show must go on
The show must go on, yeah yeah
Ooh, inside my heart is breaking
My make-up may be flaking
But my smile still stays on
Yeah yeah, whoa wo oh oh
My soul is painted like the wings of butterflies
Fairy tales of yesterday will grow but never die
I can fly, my friends
The show must go on (go on, go on, go on) yeah yeah
The show must go on (go on, go on, go on)
I'll face it with a grin
I'm never giving in
On, with the show
Ooh, I'll top the bill, I'll overkill
I have to find the will to carry on
On with the show
On with the show
The show, the show must go on
Go on, go on, go on, go on, go on
Go on, go on, go on, go on, go on
Go on, go on, go on, go on, go on
Go on, go on, go on, go on, go on
Go on, go on
So glad he left this for all of us. He was so strong and made it through ... Vodka, Courage, Strength and "I'll fucking do it darling" ...One Take 💖💔
