We will be doing a raw plug and play microphone test of both the SteelSeries Alias and Alias Pro.
I will also be bringing you into my game room and doing mic tests while plugged into my gaming pc and running SteelSeries sonar to show you some of the customization available for both mics.

UPDATE: below the clearcast section in sonar there are even more options I didn't show in this video. (noise gate, noise reduction, compressor) as well as how much noise cancelation you want. In this video I tested it at 50%, and it was very good!

The steelseries GG software recieved an update just a few hours after this was uploaded that seems to be more optimized for the new Alias microphones. There are multiple new presets for the microphones as well as some new features in sonar.

It's like they knew their headset mics aren't that great so they just decided to make a dedicated one

I have the steel series arctis nova 7p for the ps5 and it’s extremely great and clear. Also my brother has the arctis 7p for the ps5 and it’s extremely good.
@@hb-conner There are better microphones out there like on the Corsair HS80 or the Razer Blackshark V2 Pro. It is not "extremely good" it's just "fine".
Or they made the headset mics garbage on purpose so they can push people to buy these. 😮

I use this software for my Fifine K688 mic it's brilliant been using it for a very long time since everything was in early access.
as a fan of the hyperx solocast (mostly due to the easy and quiet tap-to-mute sensor, but also the low cost) and a fan of steelseries mice, keyboards and general aesthetic, this seems like a good choice for an upgrade
they're slick people gonna like this specially streamer doesn't like to complicated set up it is super friendly, i like your review 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

I heard that its good to use DT 900mpro x with amp/dac especially on console. But i am going to use it on my pc and i have really good motherboard which is Asus Z790 strix(current latest gen) would i really need an extra amp/dac even on this mobo?
Just got the base Alias. Using it on the desk now but I think it would be good if I could have it closer but then it would be in the way on the desk in front of the keyboard so that boom you have there looks like something I might want to check out. You said you were gonna put a link to it in the description but I guess you forgot =) What's it called?

For the Alias pro, which one did you buy? I saw on amazon that they have a alias pro that says its xlr only for 300 atm which doesn't make sense and then another alias pro that has USBC and XLR connectivity but for 500, Im not sure if the one for 300 comes without any usbc ports or if it does, im so confused
Is it worth replacing the elgato wave 3 for the the alias (not pro)?
I would be interested if they make the interface a standalone product. I'm personally more of a dynamic mic person than condenser so a device like that makes more sense to me since I wouldn't also need another microphone.
same im using a rode podmic so I dont need the mic but the interface seems really interesting. I hope it has similar performance to the elgato xlr at least because i think it looks a lot better

Very interesting move by steelseries to compete with hyperx and other dedicated mics
been using the sonar software for a while its S+ for making your mic sound super clean. also very good at canceling background noise. These mics sound very good

The actual capsule itself is hella clean looking. Love the fabric and overall style.
The only downer for me visually is that "claw" looking shock mount. Would have much preferred they do an in-built shock mount like so many companies are doing these days, and doing quite effectively I might add.
Other than that this looks and sounds really solid especially the USB version. Price is a bit too high but this would be a sick deal on sale one day for $150 or even $130. Nice job, Steelseries.
yeah I agree, the cloth covering looks so good! I also agree, they are expensive, but when you compile everything they offer I do think your getting your $ worth.

1: Which of the microphones is recommended if you already have the Nova pro Wireless with the associated DAC and want to use them together?
2: Or is that impossible because of the latency mentioned?
Would also love to see a video about the nova pro wireless with DAC and the both Alias Microphones. (the USB is my fav, don’t know why but gives me vibes it will work well.)

so the alias is just a more compact alais pro?
I prefer hardware controls vs software controls but the mics are very cool.
LETS GO!! Compare the wave 3! Oh you did that in this video lol. Wow the sound quality is solid. The X on the mute was pretty cool. It’s going to come down to the software though. Elgato software is tough to beat.

@@TheTechne the audio quality did sound really good. I think if I didn’t have a wave 3 I would be buying the Alias over it. I’m not sure it’s worth the upgrade though.. for me at least

Have you or anyone else noticed a huge difference between the Alias and Alias Pro? I know it’s universally said that. XLR mics are better but am I losing THAT much quality if I go with the Alias?
using the rgb as a monitor for noise balance etc is a pretty smart move, it eliminates the need to have any kind of app running and its simple enough for anybody who doesn't know a damn thing about audio to understand, $180 is a lot to stomach for the "Average" gamer wanting a mic but for people who do want that step up in quality i can see the value

What if you’re using the Nova Pro Wireless and have the Alias Pro? Does the DAC become useless for the Mic? And or for the Nova Pro’s?
Did you ever get an answer? I'm curious to see if I should get the mic or if my pro's should suffice
How did you manage to test the alias on a Macbook, if those products have usb C ports, and the Alias Pc end is A port?

For that price, you could of gotten a Lewitt LCT 440 Pure + a boom arm. All the money is on the RGB. Heck, even the Beyerdynamic M90 Pro X at similar price is all quality without the fluff.
If I were to spend 350 Euros, I would go out and spent 70 more and get myself the shure mv7 with the goxlr mini. But well I think the wave might be interesting too.

The Elgato is just a beautiful sound
Steelseries GG (the software) takes a lot of hate because it's too much bloated and while it is true, it also has cutting edge features like AI noise suppression and EQ presets for every popular game
It’s great for sure. But I really hate how all manufacturers software has become advertising platforms
Sonar is fucking incredible. The AI Noise Suppression is the BEST I've ever used across any software. It's phenomenal at retaining vocal clarity and quality.
Tbh i don't really notice the bloat. It takes less than a second after opening it to get to moments/engine when i need to. Worth having the inconsequential ADs on the homepage. Using nova wireless pro, aerox 5 wireless and apex pro. Def gonna get this Microphone to complete the steel series peripheral setup.

I love how their packaging is the same for all their products, and trying to make their product look like as if it's some kind of award winning device lol
Ah feel like tha Pro should have tha same lights on the front like tha UBS one so that ye can jus look on tha mic instead ah tha solid circle on tha controller. Tha solid circle on tha controller doesnae do as good ah job at giving visual cues as tha trailing lights on the front ah tha mic. Its an IMMEDIATE visual que, where as tha Pro ye have tae look down or over tae yer control box an all it does is like up green, but doesnae tell ye how loud intae tha green, even peaking at lowest in some cases. Ah feel like tha Pro needs ah wee more tweaking outtae tha box then tha USB one. Ah feel like the USB one has great features, good visual queues right away ah whas going on, sounds great also. Sounds comparable tae tha Wave 3 tbh.

I know this is mic review but have you ever reviewed Skullcandys new gaming headsets? I've been struggling with a headset. I've watched all ur reviews. I purchased the Razer Blackshark v2 and V2x and didn't like it. So I was looking at Skullcandy. 🤷♂️

Wish reviews like this would go through ACTUAL use... fire up a game, preferrably one with lots of key pressing and aggressive mouse handling and lets hear how it holds up.

I get complimented for my steel series Arctic nova pro mic all the time people think I’m a streamer and get shocked when I tell them it’s just a headset mic

better off getting a shure mv7 microphone with the boomstand for 330 dollars instead of paying 369.99
I want to point out that the software now does not shine with its uniqueness as before. Thanks to sonar and prisms, now every new device loses its signature feature. The question is, why buy this microphone? for the sake of the nameplate steelseries? If you connect any similar condenser microphone and tune through sonar, there will be no difference. The steelseries is everything to me. ended as a brand. I'm upset.

2e Steelseries Sonar is big crap it crash me brandnew PC Ryzen9 RTX 3060, Whitout Sonar no crashing
