Good advice Tim, especially on the textured papers, enjoying the brief sojourns every Thursday
    Kind regards, Mark

I'm so glad I found your channel! I've been researching about printers and now papers and though feeling a bit daunted your videos are a great help. I found this video helpful because you talked a bit about what some papers would be like and was surprised by the suggestion to just feel them first. That sounds like something I would do and find important, just like when I buy paint brushes, I always go with how the tip feels.
I will be printing fine art paintings mostly, do you think the Fotospeed Fine Art Matt Smooth test pack would be a good start? In your greeting card papers, is the Fotospeed Art Smooth 200 in any of the test packs? I'd love to try it first as I'll also be making cards.
Soon I'll be buying a printer, I'm leaning towards the Canon 200. I used to make my own prints at home years ago but I was always frustrated by color correcting. I'm hoping as I get back into it I can learn how to do it properly with correct ICC profiles. (Which I never heard of until Keith Cooper!)
Thanks for the videos, it'll be nice to get advice here as I progress!!

Hi Mary, yes the Matt Smooth test pack would be a great start and it does contain the Art Smooth DUO.
Glad the video was helpful, thank you for watching.

Sound advice, like most of your TH-cam videos. However, whenever I buy a test pack, I use test images downloaded from Northlight Images. These give me a good idea of how colour and monochrome images will print on each paper and how the dynamic range of these test images are handled.
    Kind regards, Maurice

It's just the first image that has a broken link. The second one works -- very interesting and curious!

Thanks for your video. I've downloaded the Art of Printing as you suggest, but when I clicked the download link on pg 16 for the grey rectangle, all I get is 'error 404'! My pdf opens in Edge, Windows 10. Do I need a seperate pdf app for this to work?

test packs should be given out by manufacturers for free or at least at a great discount.

Why does the canon print layout software let you choose media type "Baryta Photo Paper" but on the actual Pro-300 printer menu there is no option to choose "Baryta Photo Paper"? This in reference to Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Baryta as they state on the ICC instructions to select "Baryta Photo Paper" which is easy on the software but the printer doesn't have the option, would you choose "Baryta Photo Paper" on the software and "Platinum Lustre" on the printer? Thanks

I can select the Baryta option on my Pro-300 here in the office. It should be at the bottom of the list as Baryta. If not it maybe worth having a look at the media types installed through the media configuration too. I normally say to use the Semi-gloss setting as you will then be able to use the top fed and not limited to the manual fed tray. Tim

@@FotospeedUK Thanks - I got to the bottom of it! Baryta option only appears in the menu when you have put paper in the rear feeder. If I put paper in the top feed then it does not appear in the menu.

@@FotospeedUK When I insert the paper in the back the screen on the printer states A3+ Baryta Photo Paper - Perfect....but when I press register and it goes back to the screen it states Pro Luster as the option, so still not able to work out how to keep it on Baryta Photo Paper on the printer screen hmmm

Hi Tim, I have just purchased the Epson P700 from Fotospeed. Why are there only 3 papers available for roll printing on this printer please?

    Hi
Appreciate your efforts - but this video jumped about & confused me more !
It came across as unstructured &, if you review it, at the end you will see a fair degree of amelioration & lack of direction with regard to how to approach the subject without just throwing away papers that you don’t like !
Personally - I would pay a bit more for a pack of ‘bespoke’ types of papers that I am interested in !
