    I love the way Lee doesn't do anything half assed. He uses what he can find and makes it work. Great vid guys.

    It would not be a proper boat work episode without Lee crammed into a locker. Nice job Captain!

    Installation of the backing plate for strength and reinforcement. 💪 Good job, Lee.

    Nice to see that the windlass was serviceable , though if I was in your situation , I’d probably be towing another boat full of spares and consumables 😉😃😂🍻

    Over kill is best for the windlass considering its your home and for piece of mind . Well done !

    Excellent job Lee, that backing plate will make it easier to sleep at night. It's always great to see Bella lending a hand to get things done. Thanks for sharing.

    Honest to God Lee, there is a huge difference in your countenance now that you aren't under the former pressure. I could tell you were actually enjoying yourself for a change. "You know you can't cut corners on a sailboat!" Tell 'em Lee.

    If it’s done like that from the beginning…I’d love to have a quiet chat with the Pearson Yard manager who looked after our builds. The toe rail is also fun…

    No such thing as over engineered Lee. No Samson post on that boat. Maybe add a massive cleat ahead of the windlass so the chain can never be on only the windlass. The chain gypsy is likely the weak point now.

    Another excellent piece of work. Going to be one well-built sailboat.

    It doesn't need to dry out if you removed all the rot otherwise you will chase it forever. The old saying that you should be able to crane the whole boat up by the samsom post. Liked

    The smaller model of those windless had a sacrificial hollow s/s pin in the shaft to protect the motor , It always gave up at the worst times so i replaced it with a solid s/s pin , Never had a problem just went by aer , If she started to work to hard just back off a bit & THe solid backing plate a MUST . Good job , Now to protect the electric connections ?

    I used old snow boards for the backing plate on my windlass. They are impervious to weather and near indestructible.

  • @ski69

    Question? You anchor with windlass only or do you use snubber to take the tension off ? Cause you said something about being anchored in 50 knot winds....just wondering. either way, this thing is a tank now!! niiice work sir

    • @lahoozer6694
      @lahoozer6694 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Snubber can break; then its a hard snapping pull onto the windlass as a Hail Mary
