      And if you look at all the modifications the film industry is doing to airsoft guns...incredible.....it might not be long before there's no use for a real firearm on sets.
      I think the only problem they haven't tackled (aside from airsoft replicas of EVERY gun not being made yet) is casing ejection from auto/semiauto replicas. But they're getting believable "smoke" and "muzzle flash" already without needing CGI.
      Wouldn't be surprised if there aren't already startups trying to develop that tech for film as we speak.

      Live ammunition never needs to be on set, true.
      Real firearms, tho, are a necessity until the VFX industry gets past a couple hurdles to eliminate that need.
      I'd say 5 years or less there'll be no real guns in movies, but there'll be smoke, muzzle flash, and fake shells ejecting from modified airsoft guns without CGI. All they'll add in post is the sound of the gunfire, which they do already.

    • @robwoodring9437
      @robwoodring9437 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @annmoss2 dubbing is the technique of adding/replacing sounds during the editing process of a movie. Example: you've NEVER heard a real gunshot in a movie. They're all pre-recorded individual gunshot sounds that are added later. If they were real (and at real-world volumes), every movie gunshot would destroy the speakers in every movie theater.....along with your ears

    • @robwoodring9437
      @robwoodring9437 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @annmoss2 well that applies too! An alternate-language cut must be "dubbed" with voice actors, true.
      But "dubbing" refers to any sound replaced in post-production. That includes gunshots, explosions, footsteps, clothing noise, punches & kicks landing, ambient noises like traffic, office sounds, crowd noise, machines, nature sounds, and on and on.......
      Literally any needed sound the on-set mics didn't catch cleanly, or any needed sound that didn't happen during the shot are dubbed in later, even lines of dialogue. Almost all on-set audio gets replaced in a modern movie. It gives the creative freedom to say "make that whispered dialogue a bit louder" without affecting every other sound. It'd blow your mind how much nerdy audio stuff has to happen just in a scene with two people having a conversation in a living room, much less a kinetic action sequence.

The issue is who had responsibility for that gun and what the policies are on set for safety for both actors and crew? There was a live round on set. How did that happen and what was done to prevent something like that from happening. Maybe they could have used guns that can't fire live rounds. Not sure if they exist. Why was there live ammunition even present? If Alec looked at the bullets in that gun, he’d see dummy bullets, should he be expected to know the difference? That’s what an armorer does. If there were already safety concerns and ignored, who’s responsible for safety? The Halls man pleaded and is out of the picture, he also accepted responsibility and had genuine remorse. Has Alec shown genuine compassion? I didn’t see it his police interview. It was like him sitting on a talk show. What is truly shocking was the fact that both the ground paramedics & the RN/flight medic team both attempted to insert an endotracheal tube & did not recognize that it was not placed in the trachea but was misplaced in the esophagus. So instead of ventilating the lungs with oxygen, she was getting NO/ZERO oxygen. But for these mistakes Ms. Hutchins might have survived. Im 45 yrs old and have been shooting guns since I was 6. My dad raised my 5 older bros and myself around guns and the very first time he handed me a gun, he handed it to me and told me, seconds later, asked me if it was loaded. I told him, I didnt know and he took it away from me and told me I couldnt shoot. As he turned away I asked him why I couldnt shoot.
    Id been looking forward to this moment in my life, I was finally going to get to shoot a real gun. My dad turned back to me and knelt down to look me directly in the eye. He said, "Any time, every time someone hands you a gun, ALWAYS assume its loaded!" He then told and showed me how to open a gun to see if it was loaded. It was a lesson he repeated, every time he took me shooting, until it was firmly in my memory to always check a gun.

They teach you "There's no such thing as a gun that isn't loaded." Even if you just took all the ammo out yourself, checked that there wasn't a round in the chamber -- you still treat that gun as if anybody you point it at might end up dead. when a gun is placed in the hands of a citizen, the only human being with special powers are police officers right? why would the LAW give an actor magical abilities to not be held accountable because they are making entertainment? Why don't we start handing out "get out of jail free" cards to Walmart staff or random people along the highway? it makes no sense to me how Hollywood thinks they are above the freaking law, yet again. One more time we're told because that person is so funny or was the star of your favorite movie or toilet advertisement they get a pass. The dude handing the gun to the actor is there to "HELP" with safety and make you understand what is needed for safety. It's to make the actor feel a little safer, but for gods sake, the actor is a human being and are the last line of defense because they are the first legal line of defense. Best argument I've heard is if Alec was playing a suicidal character he would not have given his trust to some random person he never met before two weeks ago, so why was he not giving the same respect to others around him?
