In this tournament I wanted to maintain top control over my opponents and slowly approach the submission. I made several mistakes abandoning the position, luckily I was able to reverse and get the finish.
He was wide open for that O-uchi,I like how you didn't over commit to it,I have a tendency to go all in on throws and sometimes end up in a bad position when I hit the ground (Ippon mentality)
+Tim Neal That actually was a problem among fellow judokas in here. My advice is: avoid doing throws that give the back; like seoi-nages, harai goshis, etc.. bc BJJ guys are gonna capitalize on that and take your back easily. Instead try to develop your ashi-waza techniques that are low risk high reward in BJJ. Then slowly add upon that implementing other more "riskier" techniques. Cheers.
I agree I have been a Judoka for 37 years now and I found when I started doing Brazilian jiu jitsu to stay away from these techniques, but I actually found through my mistakes that I developed a very good back defence and also a few sneaky arm locks and wrist locks that I can do when people are trying to put a stranglehold on or trying to get a strategic grip so I'm actually quite comfortable now doing these techniques and if someone takes my back but it came with a lot of trial and error and humility along with perseverance

At the very start, I said the guy in the white gi was going to lose - BAD TECH! The second he reached his arm out! Never reach your arm out!
