I think low G is the way to go because it allows you to play both high g and low g tunes, so might as well!

Hello, the ukulele in this video is a Honolua Tenor Deluxe but I currently play a custom made one. You can find links to the instrument I play in each video at the bottom of its description. For strings, I'm using D'addario Low G nylon string set
You should totally play again (classical or non classical). My classical Ukulele Fingerstyle Basics course is currently on sale for mother's day and is a great place to start. If not, pick a project and get picking :)

Checking in: Been practicing for a month nearly every day can play about half from memory mostly mistake free. Pacing still needs work. Every day is humbling.

have you heard the prelude from BWV 1008? its an entirely different beast when it comes to difficulty but is equally good if not better (in my opinion, much better!)

I was thinking about buying a ukulele here to learn songs with your videos, but the only ukuleles that I found here is the "Sopranos", so with this one I am not able to play this song for what I was reading here in your comments, right? What I could do if I can't find this kind of ukulele with low G. And by the way, your videos are outstanding! They are so good that made me start thinking about to learn to play

Depending on where you live you could try to order a Tenor ukulele online? my course offers 10% discount on Noah's Ukuleles for EU region and discount on Honolua Ukulele if you're in NA so think about it if you're interesting in learning fingerstyle using the proper technique
Besides that, I'd say for this particular arrangement you absolutely need a Low G set up, if you can't find a ukulele maybe ask your store if they string the Soprano with Low G set. Although I think it might not work for this purpose

Of course it will work out. Thats a Standard Tuning right with a lower G String.Any Soprano with Low G will make it.

Hello, I sadly don't know of a book that I trust that offers progressive lessons. You need to be able to see the teacher, see their hands, hear the melodies, understand the legato technique through exercises and demonstrations, a book will never be able to deliver that. Sorry I can't help you find the proper book, but send me an email to Mustafa@mkfingerstyleacademy.com and maybe I can offer you some help with my course :)

Hey, that's a grade 7 piece so it's not in UFB (grade 1-5). However, the entire suite (6 dances + the prelude) will be featured soon either in their own solo course or Ukulele Fingerstyle Pro course that I'm working on and will release at the end of the year or Q1 of 2024 ! lots of fun

Can I play this with an "normal" ukulele (G,C,E,A)?
not really this is tuned to Low G C E A...you can play 3 strings if you want and accept the higher octave but it won't sound the same.

This is for Low G, I don't think it will work but you can try...it's the same frets
I'd recommend a $10 low G string set and putting them on, or better yet get an independent ukulele tuned specifically for low G, preferably a tenor ukulele
