    Nice report, good stuff. I have been saying for years, that a significant percentage of the EV revolution is related to conversions. TSLA will never build a 911, or a 2000ti, or a Z car, or a GTO, or whatever ... Neither will Rivian, or Fiskar, or anyone else. But a LOT of us do not want an iPhone on wheels with an 18" screen ... We want a classic car with gauges and a shifter and - god forbid - a clutch. IF battery energy density can get to 2X, hot hatch's will be all the rage. I would love to have an eSirocco, or a 1986 Jag XJ6 (w/o the Lucas Prince of Darkness wiring and ECM issues). We'll be buying conversion kits and building stuff, just w/o the gas guzzler - yeah !!!!

      The xj6 is exactly why I found this video! too bad moment will charge $50k-$150k. Not saying it's not worth it, but it's not at all feasible.

    So glad we found you on TH-cam, Ricky. Love what you're doing. This could mean a huge renaissance in the restoration and restomod industry with the resurrection of hundreds of truly long-forgotten old designs. Thinking back thru my own & friend's ownership history we started salivating over those glory days moments. And just think - no maintenance!

      Oh no, you can so this for much less, just not though this company. There are plenty of forklift motors in 100-250hp range and batteries can be just about anything. Used hybrid car batteries are plentiful, for instance. You'll have to pay for quality controller and other parts, but still easily in under 5 figures.

    • @bawfuls
      @bawfuls 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nitroxdsm as someone who's done an ev conversion myself, it can probably be done for under 5 figures but I wouldn't say "easily" at all. Batteries are real tough to find cheap, even salvaged

    During Obama’s first term he signed a bill allowing cash for clunkers get paid a little bit more than scrap value for old classic cars and I Saw
    Thousands of complete,& running classic cars … crushed!….
    That could’ve been converted into electric vehicles…
    Electric vehicles have less than a dozen moving parts compared to gas and diesel engines that have hundreds if not thousands of moving parts…
    Electric vehicle stay clean !!
    they don’t have oil..grease and fluids dripped all over them…
    (And I know how to recharge them as you’re driving down the road)
    No plug-ins needed

    More and more cars have bolt-in kits available, with everything you need to install yourself. Beetles, Minis, Fiat 500s, Porsche 356, a lot of cars. When you consider how much it can cost to rebuild an engine for a fairly rare car where parts are hard to find ... I can see how going electric can be a good choice.

      I owned a classic BMW. Loved every moment of it. But it became a chore keeping it on the road. I drove it less and less and eventually practically gave it away.
      If I could, I would’ve converted it.

    This is an important point - EV conversions are far less energy intensive than new EVs as the body is already made.
    There should be a huge market for cheap off-the-shelf kits for all kinds of popular cars that anyone with a basic knowledge and access to tools should be able to fit. It's one thing to massively overengineer expensive beautiful parts for vanity, but the world needs mass market conversions quickly, and they need to know they need it!

    • @Ryukachoo
      @Ryukachoo 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @marcdavis9338
      @marcdavis9338 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You’re absolutely right - this is not a good alternative for efficient transportation, this is a way to drive an iconic classic car with close to zero headaches and dramatically better performance. This is about preservation of the classic driving experience. A modern EV will always be a more efficient and less costly way to get down the road.

    • @seanmccarthy8311
      @seanmccarthy8311 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Well, this classic car lover who only drives about 20 miles per day thinks these are cooler than a Leaf. That Cobra with a 4 or 5 speed will be pure joy to drive. (With drag tires and running gear, it would do wheelies on command. And, yes, I want my car to do wheelies. I'm not even kidding). Plus all of these cars, and the countless ones yet to be converted, are unique, rolling works of art.
